Three-cost Echoes are important, but they are not automatically the best Echo to farm or equip. Choose one when it fits your Resonator’s role, Sonata set, and required main stat; then compare its active ability if it will occupy your first Echo slot. The character list attributed to @Narushio and reposted on Reddit on April 29, 2024, is explicitly DPS-focused advice—not a universal ranking or a verified current build guide.
Why 3-Cost Echoes matter
Your Echo loadout has five slots, and the total cost limit starts at 10; Data Dock upgrades can raise it to 12, according to Prydwen’s Echo system guide, updated February 11, 2026. Cost 3 is the Elite class. A Cost 3 Echo can roll HP%, ATK%, DEF%, Energy Regen, or one of six elemental damage bonuses as its primary main stat; its class-fixed secondary main stat is flat ATK. Those options make Cost 3 useful when a build needs a particular stat, but the cost number alone does not make an Echo an upgrade.
Cost class and rarity are different things. A five-star Echo can still be the wrong choice if its set or main stat does not suit the Resonator. Cost 1 and Cost 3 Echoes can also be associated with multiple possible Sonata sets, so check the actual Echo and its set rather than assuming from its cost class.
How to choose a 3-Cost Echo
- Start with the Resonator and role. Decide whether you are building a damage dealer, healer, or another role. The Reddit-posted list is labeled for DPS and should not be treated as a support or universal ranking.
- Match the Sonata set. Check which set bonus the build is using and whether the candidate Echo contributes to it. Set bonuses depend on equipping multiple Echoes from the same set.
- Check the primary main stat. Compare the available main stat with the build’s needs—such as an elemental damage bonus or Energy Regen—rather than selecting by Echo name alone.
- Compare the active ability when relevant. The first equipped Echo slot provides the active Echo ability; the order of the other four slots does not matter for that purpose. If this Echo will be first, include its ability in your comparison.
- Account for progression. A useful interim Echo can be worth equipping while your build is developing. Do not treat a temporary pick as a permanent best-in-slot choice.
What the 2024 priority list says—and what it does not
The April 29, 2024 Reddit repost attributes a character-specific DPS list to @Narushio on X. The original X material was not directly accessible, so the list is best described as attributed advice reproduced in that post, not as independently verified authorship or a validated current build recommendation.

This is a snapshot of what the repost listed, not enough information to determine the best Echo for every player or build. For a question such as “Which one should I pick for Jiyan?” or whether to choose a five-star Carapace or Roseshroom, apply the build checks above: the source list alone does not establish a universal winner between candidates.
Is a 3-Cost Echo always better than a 1- or 4-Cost Echo?
No. Cost is part of fitting five Echoes under the loadout limit, not a ranking of overall usefulness. A Cost 3 can be valuable for its main-stat options, while a Cost 1 or Cost 4 may be the better fit for the Resonator’s set, role, or active ability. The available sources do not establish that every Cost 3 is more valuable than a compatible Echo in another cost class, or that Cost 3 Echoes are always rarer than Cost 4 Echoes.

What to make of the old Echo Summon event advice
The Echo Summon web event was a 2024 event, not a current selection opportunity. Its guide said the best pick depended on the characters a player planned to use, suggested a Gold five-star Cost 3 as a fallback, and noted that an event Echo could provide an early head start before being replaced by a character’s best-in-slot Cost 4 main Echo. Treat that as historical event guidance, not a live farming recommendation. The guide is available at WutheringWaves.gg’s Echo Summon event page.
