What this list does—and doesn’t—mean
These are characters the comparison identifies as appearing in WWE 2K24 but not WWE 2K25. It is not a complete list of everyone absent from WWE 2K25. The same article separates current WWE talent who were missing from the new game, including Motor City Machine Guns and Penta, and other absent legends. Those categories should not be confused with characters removed from the previous game’s roster.
The comparison includes some suggested explanations or affiliation notes, such as a possible expired legend contract or references to performers being with AEW or TNA. Those are the article author’s annotations, not verified explanations from 2K. The available official announcement covers release and game features, not the reasons for individual roster omissions.

When WWE 2K25 came out
2K announced that WWE 2K25’s Standard Edition would release worldwide on March 14, 2025, with digital Deadman and Bloodline editions scheduled for March 7, 2025. The SmackDown Hotel comparison appeared on February 17, before release. At that time, it reported 281 day-one characters and noted that alternate versions and DLC details were still outstanding. That early count is not a final roster total.
The SmackDown Hotel’s currently updated roster page lists 436 characters, including later roster and DLC updates. That updated aggregate has a different date and scope from the pre-release day-one figure; neither number is a count of characters removed from WWE 2K24.

Can you still play WWE 2K24?
2K Support’s notice, published August 21, 2025 and updated April 3, 2026, says WWE 2K24 and older games outside the current lineup have been discontinued and are no longer available for purchase. Existing owners can redownload the game and play offline modes. Online multiplayer, online modes, Community Creations, MyFACTION, and earning VC are no longer available.
