IGN revealed the WWE 2K25 roster on February 17, 2025, in a video published under the title “WWE 2K25 Roster Reveal – IGN FanFest.” The headline figure was more than 300 playable characters, and that count includes roster variants. IGN’s alphabetical list leaves variants out, so the list is not a tally of 300 unique wrestlers.
When and where IGN revealed the roster
IGN published the reveal as part of IGN Fan Fest, with the associated video going live on February 17, 2025. The video description poses the question the reveal sets out to answer: “Who’s on the WWE 2K25 roster?” It presents the names in alphabetical order and states that the list is variant-free.

How many playable characters were announced
Two 2025 sources give the same headline figure. Take-Two Interactive’s January 28, 2025 announcement describes a playable roster of more than 300. IGN’s reveal description says the 300 threshold is crossed once roster variants are counted. Both statements describe the game as announced in early 2025. Neither is a census of unique base-roster wrestlers.
What a variant is in this count
A variant is an alternate version of a character that is counted separately from the base wrestler it belongs to. Because the headline total counts those versions, one performer can contribute more than one entry to the 300-plus figure.

How to read the number
- Treat “more than 300” as a total that includes variants, not as a count of different wrestlers.
- Use IGN’s alphabetical, variant-free listing as the reference for who appears on the base roster.
- Do not assume that characters announced for later downloadable content were part of the launch roster.
Who was named on the roster
According to 2K’s framing, the roster draws from Raw, SmackDown, NXT, and WWE legends. The examples 2K gave were:

What 2K said about the game
2K quoted Greg Thomas, President at Visual Concepts, saying: “Our team welcomes the challenge of bringing the WWE 2K franchise to new heights each and every year.” In the same announcement, he added: “We are especially proud to offer our best gameplay and graphics to date in WWE 2K25, as well as all-new match type, mode, and storyline experiences that we’re confident players will love.” These are publisher remarks, not independent assessments.

Limits of what the announcements establish
- The reveal, the roster count, and the mode descriptions come from IGN and from 2K and Take-Two announcements. No independent survey or sales figure from these sources supports them.
- Edition prices, pre-order windows, and included items described in the 2025 announcements are historical. Check the current store listing before relying on any of them.
- The examples of named wrestlers are drawn from 2K’s announcement materials and do not establish the full roster.
