The Xbox app is to be integrated into LG’s webOS Automotive Content Platform (ACP), letting passengers stream games on a vehicle’s infotainment system. You’ll need a compatible Bluetooth controller, supported internet access and, for the hundreds-of-games catalog, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
How Xbox Cloud Gaming in a car is supposed to work
LG’s webOS Automotive Content Platform is software for vehicle infotainment systems. Under the announced partnership, the Xbox app will be built into ACP-equipped vehicles, where passengers can launch it, sign in to a Game Pass subscription and play streamed games using a Bluetooth controller.
This is cloud streaming through the vehicle’s connected infotainment system, not a promise that Xbox consoles will be installed in cars. Xbox says an automotive data plan is required for streaming services, and that services will operate in compliance with driving-safety regulations.
What you need to play
- A supported vehicle: It must have LG webOS Automotive Content Platform, an internet-connected infotainment system and the Xbox app. Not every vehicle with internet access—or every vehicle using LG software—is necessarily supported.
- A Game Pass account: LG describes the hundreds-of-games cloud catalog as available to Game Pass Ultimate members. Xbox’s setup instructions say to sign in to a Game Pass subscription, but the announcement does not clarify whether another tier will provide access to this in-car experience.
- A compatible Bluetooth controller: The announcements identify a controller as the required game input. They do not name specific controller models or describe the pairing screens.
- Supported internet access: Streaming needs a connection supported by the vehicle’s system. Xbox says an automotive data plan is required for streaming services; the announcement does not specify data allowances, connection quality requirements or whether other connection methods will be supported.
How passengers will start a game
- Connect a compatible Bluetooth controller to the vehicle’s infotainment system.
- Open the Xbox app from the internet-connected in-vehicle system.
- Sign in to the Xbox Game Pass subscription associated with the games you want to stream.
- Choose an available cloud game and play from the vehicle’s infotainment display.
Those steps follow Xbox’s setup description, published by Xbox Wire on September 9, 2025. The announcement does not provide vehicle-specific menus or troubleshooting instructions, so the exact screens may vary by manufacturer and vehicle.

Which cars support it—and when?
The Xbox and LG announcements describe support for “select” vehicles but do not provide a complete list of makes, models or trims. They also do not state which countries will receive the service, what it will cost consumers, or a firm public launch date. Xbox and LG said the experience was coming “soon”; that wording alone does not establish that it is available in a particular vehicle or market.
LG said it aims to supply its webOS-based ACP to 20 million vehicles by 2030. That is LG’s platform supply target, not a forecast or guarantee that 20 million vehicles will include Xbox Cloud Gaming. LG places ACP within PlayWare, part of its AlphaWare software-defined-vehicle suite, and says it is expanding ACP to commercial vehicles.

What games are included?
Xbox said Game Pass Ultimate members would be able to access hundreds of games through cloud gaming. Examples named in the announcement include Gears of War: Reloaded, Forza Horizon 5 and The Outer Worlds 2. Xbox also cited streaming select games subscribers already own, including Bugsnax, Don’t Starve and Mafia: The Old Country. LG separately named Doom: The Dark Ages and Forza Horizon 5.
These are announcement examples, not a permanent in-car lineup. Game Pass and owned-game streaming catalogs can change, and the announcements do not give a separate, fixed catalog for vehicles.

Who can play while the vehicle is moving?
The announcements say the services will comply with driving-safety regulations, but they do not specify how that will work in each vehicle. The experience is described for passengers using the infotainment system; the sources do not say that drivers can play while driving. Follow the vehicle’s restrictions and local road-safety laws, and do not use a screen or controller in a way that distracts the driver.
