Microsoft has announced monthly Xbox Cloud Gaming allowances starting in November 2026: 15 hours for Game Pass Ultimate, 10 for Premium and 5 for Essential. As of October 3, 2026, the change is upcoming, not yet in effect. Microsoft says subscribers who use their included hours will be able to buy additional cloud playtime through the Xbox Store, but has not announced the price.
How many cloud gaming hours will each Game Pass plan include?
The announced allowances are monthly totals, not per-session limits. Microsoft has not described a daily cap.
| Game Pass plan | Announced cloud gaming hours per month | Scheduled start |
|---|---|---|
| Ultimate | 15 | November 2026 |
| Premium | 10 | November 2026 |
| Essential | 5 | November 2026 |
These are the allowances Microsoft announced on September 3, 2026. Microsoft’s Xbox Cloud Gaming page also presents a 15-hours-per-month limit and says monthly limits vary by Game Pass plan.
When does the 15-hour limit start?
Microsoft scheduled the limits to begin in November 2026. Until then, eligible subscribers can stream without these monthly hour limits, according to the company’s September 3 announcement. That announcement says Microsoft will share pricing and further details before the change takes effect.

What happens after you use your monthly hours?
Microsoft says subscribers will be able to purchase additional cloud playtime through the Xbox Store after using their included hours. The September announcement does not state the price, the size of any purchase bundles, or how usage will be counted. It also does not specify the monthly reset date or time, so those details should not be assumed.
Will the limit apply the same way everywhere?
Not necessarily. Microsoft says available hours, purchasing options and cloud-gaming features may vary by market. Its Xbox Cloud Gaming service page also notes that availability can vary over time and by region, plan and platform. The September announcement does not give a complete country-by-country list, so local Xbox information is the place to check when Microsoft publishes more details.

How many subscribers does Microsoft expect to be affected?
Microsoft estimated that the change would affect 4% of Game Pass subscribers. That figure is the company’s estimate in its September 3, 2026 announcement, not an independently verified statistic. Microsoft acknowledged the change for frequent cloud players, saying: “We recognize that introducing limits is a meaningful change, particularly for players who regularly spend more time gaming through the cloud.”
