The 2026 “Xbox Game Pass Ultimate leak” was largely misidentified. The April leak concerned Xbox Game Pass Starter Edition, a limited benefit bundled with Discord Nitro—not a new standalone Ultimate tier. Xbox and Discord confirmed the arrangement on May 11, 2026. Separately, Microsoft cut U.S. Ultimate pricing to $22.99 per month but stopped promising future Call of Duty games at launch.
What leaked in April 2026?
Promotional material associated with Discord previews or data mining revealed a product named Xbox Game Pass Starter Edition. Reports described it as a Discord Nitro benefit offering more than 50 games, 10 hours of Xbox Cloud Gaming per month and Xbox Rewards. The discovery was reported by outlets including Pure Xbox.
The material did not establish a new Ultimate plan. It described a lower-access product connected to Nitro, and the information remained a leak until Microsoft and Discord published their own announcement.
Microsoft and Discord confirmed the leak
On May 11, 2026, Xbox officially announced that Discord Nitro would include a Starter Edition of Game Pass where available. Discord confirmed the core details: more than 50 PC and console games, downloadable games, 10 hours of cloud gaming each month and Xbox Rewards benefits. The announcement is documented by Xbox and Discord.

Ten cloud hours per calendar month
The cloud allowance is 10 hours per calendar month and resets at the start of each month. Downloaded games do not consume those hours. Discord also documents streaming a digitally owned Xbox game when that game is cloud-playable; the session still uses the monthly allowance.

Discord’s support documentation says the benefit can provide Xbox Rewards earning potential of up to $25 per year in the Store. This is a stated maximum, not guaranteed cash and not a replacement for the broader Ultimate feature set.
Who is eligible for the Nitro benefit?
- An active Discord Nitro membership is required; Nitro Basic and Nitro Classic do not qualify.
- You need a Microsoft account and residence in an eligible region.
- Discord says the offer is intended for people without an active Xbox Game Pass subscription, so current Game Pass subscribers may be excluded.
- Rollout can be gradual by region and account. A trial or gift membership may have different eligibility terms.
If Nitro is cancelled, Starter Edition ends when the current Nitro billing period ends. If the benefit is missing, check the Nitro tab again, confirm that the membership is full Nitro, and verify that no Game Pass subscription is active.

What changed for Ultimate in 2026?
The U.S. price fell

Future Call of Duty games are delayed in Game Pass
Microsoft says future Call of Duty releases will no longer enter Ultimate or PC Game Pass at launch. They are expected around the following holiday season, roughly a year later. Existing Call of Duty games already in the catalogue remain available. This is a policy change, not the removal of every Call of Duty title.
Core Ultimate benefits remain
- Hundreds of games on Xbox and PC
- Major eligible day-one releases
- Cloud gaming
- Online console multiplayer
- In-game benefits and other plan perks
Which subscription fits you?
Choose Ultimate if you…
- Use both Xbox and PC and want the broadest catalogue.
- Need console online multiplayer.
- Play through the cloud regularly.
- Want major Xbox releases at launch.
- Value EA Play and other Ultimate benefits.
Choose Nitro’s Starter Edition if you…
- Already want Discord Nitro for its communication, streaming and customization features.
- Are satisfied with a limited catalogue.
- Mostly download games and use cloud gaming occasionally.
- Do not have an active Game Pass subscription.
Do not choose Nitro solely as an Ultimate replacement if you…
- Need unrestricted cloud gaming, console multiplayer or the full catalogue.
- Expect every new Xbox release to be included at launch.
- Already subscribe to Ultimate, PC Game Pass or another active Game Pass plan.
- Are subscribing only for a game that is cheaper to buy outright.
For Call of Duty players
Compare Ultimate’s $22.99 U.S. monthly cost with the retail price of the specific upcoming game. Include the value of the rest of the catalogue, multiplayer, cloud gaming and perks, and decide whether waiting roughly a year for Game Pass access is acceptable.

Discord’s eligibility rules generally exclude people with an active Game Pass subscription, so it should not be treated as an upgrade or stacking mechanism.
Is the offer available everywhere?
No. Discord specifies eligible regions and account-based rollout, so availability can differ by country and account.
Are future Xbox games included on day one?
Starter Edition has no established general day-one entitlement. Ultimate retains day-one access for eligible releases, but Microsoft has specifically excluded future Call of Duty launches.
