Xbox Gaming Copilot (Beta) began rolling out to Windows PCs through Xbox Game Bar in September 2025. Xbox described it as an AI gaming assistant for gameplay help, recommendations, and information about achievements and play history. The rollout was gradual, so the announcement does not establish that every Windows PC player can access it now.
What Gaming Copilot can help with
Xbox presented Gaming Copilot as an assistant for questions about games and a way to get help while playing. In Voice Mode, it can use what is happening on screen to inform its responses. Xbox’s examples included asking how to handle a newly encountered enemy, learning about an NPC, getting game recommendations based on favorite genres or play history, and asking which achievement to pursue next. These are examples of announced capabilities, not independent test results.
Xbox’s September 29, 2025 update highlighted deeper in-game assistance, push-to-talk, and improved recognition of screen activity. The sources do not provide performance measurements for these features.
How to open Gaming Copilot on a Windows PC
- Install the Xbox PC app on your Windows device.
- Press Windows logo key + G to open Xbox Game Bar.
- Select the Gaming Copilot icon in the Home Bar to open its widget.
- Sign in to your Xbox account for the full experience.
These are the steps in Xbox’s September 18, 2025 announcement. If the Gaming Copilot icon is not present, the feature may not have reached your account or device yet; the announcement described a gradual rollout, not an immediate release to every PC player.

Choose how to interact while playing
Voice Mode
Voice Mode lets you ask questions while playing. Xbox did not specify a required microphone or headset; a headset with a microphone is optional if you prefer that setup.
Push to talk
On PC, Xbox described a configurable push-to-talk shortcut under Hardware and Hotkeys. It can suit players who want to speak only when they press a key rather than leave voice interaction continuously available.

Pinned mini mode
Xbox also described a pinned mini mode that keeps a voice conversation available while you return to gameplay. The announcement did not compare these interaction options by speed or performance.

Taylor O’Malley, Principal Program Manager at Xbox, announced Gaming Copilot (Beta) for PC on September 18, 2025, saying that players would begin seeing it in Game Bar as the feature rolled out over the following weeks. Xbox’s September 29 update said the expansion to Game Bar on Windows PC had officially started; Microsoft’s Windows Experience Blog also described the integration on September 19.

The September 18 launch post described eligibility for players aged 18 and older and regional support everywhere except mainland China. Those were terms stated for the 2025 rollout, not a verified current eligibility or country-by-country availability list. The available announcements do not confirm whether those details have changed or whether the feature is accessible to every Windows PC user today.
