Yes, the Xbox controller shaped like Deadpool’s backside was real. Xbox announced the custom Deadpool Cheeky Controller on July 17, 2024, as a promotional prize for Deadpool & Wolverine. It was offered through a global sweepstakes—not announced as a normal retail product you could buy.
What the Deadpool Cheeky Controller was
Xbox presented the gamepad as a novelty custom controller modeled after Deadpool’s rear, with the character’s red-and-black suit styling. Xbox Global Partnerships & Consumer Products general manager Marcos Waltenberg described it as being “Modeled after Deadpool’s much-discussed, perfectly rounded tush.”
The announcement tied the controller to Marvel Studios’ Deadpool & Wolverine promotion. Despite the familiar Xbox shape and controls, this was a one-off promotional design rather than a new controller platform or a special retail edition of an existing Xbox pad.
Can you buy the Deadpool butt controller?
Not through the ordinary Xbox store based on the published offer. Xbox said one lucky fan could enter for a chance to win the Deadpool Cheeky Controller in a global sweepstakes alongside other custom Xbox hardware. Windows Central likewise reported on July 31, 2024, that the official Cheeky Controllers were obtainable only through sweepstakes.

- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Because the announcement and reporting are from 2024, they do not establish a current retail listing, resale price, or an active way to enter in 2026. Any existing listing claiming to sell the official sculpted controller would need independent verification.
Deadpool controller items that are easy to confuse
| Item | What it is | Status described in 2024 coverage |

| Wolverine Cheeky Controller | A separate custom controller made for Wolverine | Announced by Xbox on July 22, 2024, also promoted through a sweepstakes |

The separate Cable Guys promotion
Xbox’s July 17 announcement also mentioned a Deadpool-themed Cable Guys Controller Holder by EXG Pro. This was not the sculpted Cheeky Controller. On July 22, 2024, the first 1,000 purchasers of an Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 – Core from the Microsoft Store were to receive the holder while supplies lasted. Xbox stated that promotion was for North America and Canada.

That was a dated 2024 offer, so it should not be treated as current stock or an ongoing bundle.
What the Wolverine announcement changed
On July 22, 2024, Xbox announced a Wolverine-themed Cheeky Controller and a separate sweepstakes. It confirmed that the Deadpool design was part of a broader promotional series, but it did not turn the original Deadpool controller into a retail product or extend its original offer.

Unofficial 3D-printable alternatives
Windows Central discussed a third-party 3D-printable cover for existing Xbox controllers as an alternative for fans who wanted the visual concept without winning the official hardware. A printable file is not an Xbox-made controller: it requires access to a suitable 3D printer, finishing and assembly, and a compatible donor controller. Check the file’s current availability, license and fit before downloading or printing it.

The viral “Xbox controller shaped like Deadpool’s ass” was an authentic Xbox promotional creation, officially called the Deadpool Cheeky Controller. Its documented route to ownership was a 2024 sweepstakes, not a conventional store launch. The Cable Guys holder and printable cover were different products and should not be presented as substitutes for the official custom gamepad.
