Xiaomi Game Turbo in August 2026: What Changed and How to Update Safely

The so-called August Xiaomi Game Turbo update is not a confirmed universal release. Here’s what the July-dated Security build and reported Game Space redesign mean for your phone.

There is no confirmed, universal August 2026 Xiaomi Game Turbo release. The update most often associated with the month is HyperOS Security version 12.7.6-260720.1.1, a build dated July 20 and described in current coverage as security and stability maintenance. Separately, reports say Xiaomi is gradually introducing a redesigned Game Space experience on some devices. Neither establishes a guaranteed August gaming-feature rollout or an FPS boost for every Xiaomi, Redmi, or POCO phone.

What the August 2026 update actually is

The label “August Game Turbo update” blends two developments that should be kept separate. One is a Security system-app package; the other is a reported gaming-hub redesign.

Claim What is established
Security 12.7.6-260720.1.1 Current reporting identifies this global Security build and associates it with the July 2026 security patch and stability maintenance. The “260720” build identifier points to July 20, 2026, not an August build date. Read the report.
A standalone August Game Turbo feature release Not established. Xiaomi’s official support material explains Game Turbo functions but does not provide a universal August 2026 Game Turbo changelog. Xiaomi’s Game Turbo guide.
Game Space redesign Late-July coverage reports a rollout that may replace or repackage Game Turbo on some builds. Global availability and a complete Xiaomi changelog have not been established. Read the report.
Guaranteed FPS, ping, or temperature improvement Not verified as a universal result. Xiaomi documents optimization controls, not a fixed performance gain for every model and game.

Xiaomi Security describes security research and vulnerability-reporting information at its Security Center; that page is not a Game Turbo release log. In practice, Game Turbo-related changes can arrive through Security or other HyperOS system components, rather than as a distinct package carrying the Game Turbo name.

Game Turbo and Game Space: why your phone may show different names

Game Turbo is the established gaming-optimization feature integrated with Xiaomi’s Security app or available through a system interface. Game Space is the name used in reports about a newer gaming hub. Some devices may instead label the feature Game Booster, Game acceleration, or a localized equivalent.

The names do not prove that two phones have the same software or options. Menus and Sidebar or Toolbox functions can differ by model, ROM region, HyperOS version, and system-app build. Xiaomi’s HyperOS user guide also describes model-dependent interface and Sidebar availability.

Late-July reports attribute automatic game collection, frequently played game prioritization, per-game profiles, and customizable gaming-themed layouts to Game Space. Treat these as reported additions, not a feature list guaranteed for every Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO phone. Chinese-language coverage also describes automatic game collection, profiles, and customization.

What Game Turbo can do—and what is only reported

Functions Xiaomi documents

Xiaomi’s official guide describes tools that may include WLAN and touch-response optimization, game sound and display adjustments, performance and temperature settings, memory exceptions, notification suppression, and mistouch prevention. Supported devices may offer per-game touch sensitivity and edge-suppression controls, visual enhancements, or 4D vibration. An in-game Toolbox can provide options such as screenshots, screen recording, casting, Do Not Disturb, storage cleanup, memory clearing, boost, or screen-off operation; the available tools vary by model. Xiaomi’s guide lists the documented controls.

Game Space additions reported in coverage

Reports describe automatic organization of newly installed games, prioritization based on play frequency, per-game performance profiles, and customizable gaming layouts. Xiaomi has not published a universal global changelog confirming these features across devices, so check your own interface rather than assuming they are present.

Performance claims the update does not establish

There is no verified fixed FPS increase, lower ping in every game, or guaranteed thermal improvement from this alleged August update. Specialized high-frame-rate, frame-insertion, or super-resolution options are model- and game-dependent. For example, Xiaomi’s POCO F8 Ultra FAQ limits such support to specified games; that device-specific information is not evidence of a Game Turbo-wide upgrade. See the POCO F8 Ultra FAQ.

Network optimization cannot fix a distant game server or an overloaded router. Higher performance settings can also raise heat and battery use. A peak frame-rate reading is not the same as stable frame pacing, and repeatedly clearing memory is not automatically helpful on Android: apps may simply need to reload.

How to find and update the gaming feature safely

Check what is already on your phone

  1. Open Security and look for Game Turbo, Game Space, Game Booster, or Game acceleration.
  2. If the option is absent, check Security’s shortcut edit or customize control, if available, and search the app drawer for “Game Turbo” or “Game Space.”
  3. Open Settings > Apps > Manage apps and search for related system components if the feature is not visible. The usual Xiaomi entry point is Security > Game Turbo, though the label can vary. See Xiaomi’s instructions.

Use Xiaomi’s normal update channels

  1. Open Settings > System apps updater, if your phone provides it. Check for updates to Security, System UI Plug-in, System Launcher, and other HyperOS system components.
  2. Open Settings > About phone > HyperOS > Check for updates and install any update offered for your exact device and region.
  3. Restart the phone, reopen the gaming feature, and check whether its interface or per-game options have changed.

System-app distribution can be staged or regional, so two phones with the same HyperOS generation may not receive the same components at the same time.

Add a game and open the Toolbox

  1. Open Security > Game Turbo or the available Game Space equivalent.
  2. Tap Add game or the plus icon and select an installed title.
  3. Launch the title through the gaming hub or from the home screen. On supported models, swipe from the designated screen edge to open the in-game Toolbox.

Xiaomi’s HyperOS guide describes manually adding games and opening the Toolbox through the in-game Sidebar on supported devices. Consult the guide for model-dependent controls.

Settings to try without sacrificing stability

There is no universal best profile; start with the controls your phone actually offers and change one setting at a time.

  • Competitive shooters and MOBAs: Try optimized touch controls and notification suppression if available. Use performance mode for a short competitive session only if the phone stays comfortable to hold.
  • Open-world games: A demanding game may benefit more from balanced in-game graphics and a stable frame rate than from a maximum-performance profile that quickly heats the phone.
  • Long sessions or emulation: Favor balanced or temperature-priority settings. Lowering the game’s own resolution, effects, or frame-rate target can help sustain play where the device is thermally constrained.
  • Network settings: Test WLAN optimization against your normal connection. It may limit competing background activity, but cannot repair a congested router, weak signal, or server-side latency.
  • Background apps: Add essential apps to memory exceptions only if you need them to remain available. Broad exceptions can keep more activity running in the background.
  • Screen edges: Set mistouch or edge suppression conservatively. Too much can block legitimate corner taps.

For a documented example of a touch problem, Xiaomi advises POCO Pad 6S Pro 12.4 owners to reduce the Touch-resistant area to Small or None at Booster settings > Additional settings > current game. This path is model-specific, not a universal menu. See Xiaomi’s troubleshooting steps.

Troubleshoot missing features, touch problems, and heat

Game Turbo or Game Space is missing

The feature may be hidden in Security, renamed, unavailable on the model, or awaiting a system-app rollout. Update HyperOS and system apps through normal channels, restart, check Security’s editable shortcuts, then search the app drawer and Manage apps. Avoid packages from another ROM region: a Chinese Security or Game Turbo component installed on a global ROM has reportedly caused visual or touch problems on some POCO devices. That is anecdotal, but enough reason not to treat cross-region sideloading as a safe default.

The new interface does not appear after an update

A HyperOS update does not guarantee that every system-app redesign appears immediately. Game Space may depend on multiple components, and staged rollouts can leave phones on the same HyperOS version with different menus. Confirm the device model, ROM region, HyperOS version, and Security version before comparing your phone with another user’s.

Touch controls become unreliable

  1. For supported models, open Game Turbo > Booster settings > Additional settings > current game.
  2. Reduce Touch-resistant area to Small or None and turn down aggressive edge suppression.
  3. Test with optimized touch controls disabled, then restart the game.

Xiaomi documents the touch-resistant-area route for the Pad 6S Pro 12.4; your phone may use another path or lack the control. Model-specific Xiaomi instructions.

The phone gets hot or drains faster

Switch from performance to balanced or temperature-priority settings, lower the game’s graphics or frame-rate target, remove unnecessary memory exceptions, and avoid charging during demanding play. Test the game with Game Turbo disabled to see whether the setting is contributing. Do not use repeated memory clearing as a substitute for identifying the cause.

A sideloaded package breaks controls or crashes

If Xiaomi permits it, uninstall updates for the affected system app, restore the package intended for your ROM region, restart, and update through official channels. Back up important data before experimenting with system components, and do not mix Chinese and global Security packages.

Should you install it?

Your situation Practical choice
An update is offered by Xiaomi for your exact model and region Install through the normal updater if you want its maintenance fixes or available interface changes.
You want Game Space but do not see it yet Wait for the relevant system-app rollout; a HyperOS version alone does not guarantee the redesign.
The only package you found is from another region Do not install it on the assumption that it is compatible. Cross-region packages can cause problems, and the reports do not establish universal safety.
Your phone is stable and you expect a guaranteed FPS boost Do not update solely on that expectation; no universal FPS gain is documented.
Your game is limited by heat, hardware, or server latency Changing Game Turbo cannot remove those underlying limits. Test lower game settings, improve the local network where possible, or consider a hardware change only if the limitation is persistent and measurable.

If you compare results, record the exact model, ROM region, HyperOS and Security versions, game, and settings. Compare the same game under similar conditions; otherwise a frame-rate or temperature difference cannot be confidently attributed to Game Turbo.

Privacy note

Xiaomi’s Security privacy policy lists device, system-version, app, carrier, settings, identifier, IP-address, and request-time information among data categories associated with Security and Game Turbo functions. The policy describes data handling; those categories alone do not establish a security defect. Read Xiaomi’s Security privacy policy.
