Xiaomi’s REDMI Game Controller is no longer just a preview: after a June 2025 demonstration on the REDMI K Pad, Xiaomi launched it in China on June 26 for 499 yuan. It combines into a conventional gamepad or separates around a phone or tablet, with Hall-effect sticks, configurable controls and Xiaomi ecosystem features. Its strongest confirmed use case is Xiaomi/Redmi mobile and tablet gaming; Xbox support is claimed, but the exact console compatibility and connection method remain undocumented.
What Xiaomi demonstrated
The controller first appeared during a Xiaomi/Redmi new-product livestream on June 18, 2025. Xiaomi product personnel then showed a hands-on setup using the controller with a REDMI K Pad, running Black Myth: Wukong through cloud gaming. The video demonstrates that the hardware can operate in a tablet-focused arrangement, but it is not an independent latency test, durability review or proof that the game runs natively on Android.
The demonstration also exposed a controller settings interface with controls for mapping mode, individual button assignments, joysticks, triggers, vibration, lighting, button testing, firmware information and factory reset. Xiaomi’s published material does not clearly establish whether this is a standalone app, a HyperOS gaming-space feature or controller-integrated software, so it should not be treated as a fully documented cross-platform companion app.

- Joined mode: the two sections form a conventional controller.
- Split mode: the sections sit on either side of a mounted phone or tablet for handheld play.
These are the product’s defining use cases, rather than an indication that every supported device or game has identical features.
Design, controls and hardware
A detachable white-and-gray chassis
The REDMI Game Controller uses a white-and-gray finish, large grips and two detachable halves. Each section has its own battery-status indicator. Retractable upper and lower clamps are designed to hold phones and tablets, and Xiaomi describes the clamps as having two-stage adjustment. The launch information does not publish a complete opening range or thickness limit, so physical fit still needs to be checked for a particular device and case.
Hall-effect sticks and interchangeable parts
The launch listing specifies Hall-effect joysticks and three interchangeable stick-cap heights. Hall-effect sensing is attractive to buyers concerned about the wear mechanisms used in many conventional sticks, but no independent long-term reliability or drift testing is available. The directional-pad component is replaceable or interchangeable, and the ABXY and shoulder buttons use microswitches. Xiaomi does not identify the switch manufacturer.
Lighting and battery
The controller has an RGB light ring with three reported lighting effects. Xiaomi specifies a built-in 600mAh battery, while the two sections can display their charge status independently. Runtime, charging time, connector type, standby drain and battery replacement procedures have not been published in the available product information.

Xiaomi’s China shop listing includes compatibility labels for Xiaomi MIX Fold, MIX Flip, Ultra and Pro Max phone families. Those labels are listing- and region-specific, not a universal promise that every Android phone will fit or expose every mapping function.
Physical fit can be the real limitation
- A rugged case may make a phone too thick for the clamps, even when the bare phone would fit.
- A large camera bump can collide with clamp or grip hardware despite adequate clamp width.
- Android version, USB-port placement and game-specific controller support can affect practical use.
- A successful wireless pairing does not guarantee that a particular game accepts controller input.
Xbox support needs careful qualification
Xiaomi promotional material says the assembled controller can connect to Xbox. That is a compatibility claim, not proof of Xbox licensing or a guarantee of the same behavior as an official Xbox Wireless Controller. The available information does not identify supported Xbox generations, whether Xbox Wireless or Bluetooth is used, whether an adapter is required, or whether headset and audio functions work.
Before importing one for console use, confirm the exact Xbox model and connection procedure in the regional Xiaomi listing or manual. Do not assume that ordinary Bluetooth pairing works with every Xbox console.
Wireless connection and software limits
The preview video does not show a visible USB port, suggesting wireless Bluetooth operation. However, that observation does not conclusively prove that wired play is impossible. Xiaomi’s launch information mentions Xiaomi Fast Connect and low-latency wireless behavior, but does not state a Bluetooth version, supported profiles, polling rate, wired mode or measured latency.

Cloud gaming adds further variables: controller response is affected by the wireless link, network, cloud service and display as well as the gamepad. The Black Myth: Wukong demonstration therefore shows a use case, not a controller-only latency result.

Xiaomi’s China shop continues to list the product at product page 19459 and product page 21131. No verified U.S. MSRP, global launch, international warranty coverage or official distribution outside China is established by these listings.
Do not convert 499 yuan directly into a U.S. retail price. Import shipping, taxes, reseller margins, returns, warranty and regional software can materially change the final cost.
Who should consider it?
Good fit
- REDMI K Pad owners and other Xiaomi/Redmi users who want an integrated mobile setup.
- Players who value a tablet-sized handheld arrangement and a controller that can also become a standard pad.
- Buyers interested in Hall-effect sticks, interchangeable stick heights and configurable mappings.
- Importers comfortable with China-market software, support and warranty limitations.
Reasons to wait or choose another controller
- You need guaranteed Xbox compatibility, headset support or official Xbox ecosystem behavior.
- You require an official U.S. warranty or straightforward local returns.
- You need verified PC, iPhone or iPad support.
- You prioritize a published battery-runtime figure, confirmed USB operation or independently measured latency.
- Your phone uses a thick case or unusually large camera housing.
What remains unknown
- Bluetooth version, profiles and polling rate.
- Whether any wired USB mode exists.
- Actual runtime, charging time and connector.
- The precise Xbox pairing method, supported generations and audio features.
- A complete phone and tablet compatibility matrix.
- Whether mapping works system-wide, only in supported games or through Xiaomi gaming-space software.
- Global availability, regional firmware behavior and international app support.
- Independent latency, durability and separated-mode testing.
Bottom line for buyers
The REDMI Game Controller is a released 499-yuan China-market accessory, not an unreleased rumor. Its strongest verified proposition is a flexible Xiaomi/Redmi mobile and tablet controller with split and joined modes, substantial configuration options and Hall-effect sticks. Xbox use is promising but remains a Xiaomi claim without enough technical detail to treat it as universal. For buyers outside China, import and support risks are as important as the hardware specifications.
