Yarnhub Animation Studios, known for military-history animation, announced a move into game development in March 2025. Its first announced game, Brass Rain, is a co-op World War II combat title; Steam currently lists it as not yet available, with a planned 2027 release. The company funded part of the expansion through a community equity crowdfunding offering, which GamesBeat later reported raised $2.9 million from more than 5,000 fans.
Why Yarnhub expanded from videos into games
Yarnhub built an audience with 3D military-history animation. In March 2025, founder and CEO David Webb said the company had envisioned making games from the beginning, and that viewers were asking questions such as “What game is this?” GamesBeat also reported that the team already used Unreal Engine for its video production, giving it an existing tool pipeline to draw on as it moved toward interactive projects. The game division was led by Cyril Barrow, Yarnhub’s head of games.
Webb described the decision as an extension of the studio’s storytelling work: “Our audience has grown around our love for storytelling, and from the very beginning, we envisioned creating games. Today, our audience is demanding a Yarnhub game, and we’re thrilled to take this next step with them.” The SEC filing similarly records video-comment questions including “Is this a game? Where can I play this game?” Those examples show the kind of audience response the company cited; they are not a measured survey of demand.
Barrow argued that Yarnhub could use its existing reach to help people discover and stay with a game, saying: “For traditional game studios, acquiring and retaining players is both expensive and inefficient. Yarnhub is in a unique position to build a true cross-media experience, where our 35 million monthly views naturally fuel game discovery and retention.” That is the company’s strategic case, not independently demonstrated evidence that video viewers will become game players or buyers.

GamesBeat’s March 2025 report described Yarnhub and Blue Paw Print as military-history channels with an audience spanning the United States, Japan and major European countries. It also clarified that The Tank Museum did not endorse Yarnhub’s commercial ventures.
How the community crowdfunding worked
Yarnhub Animation Studios Inc.’s 2025 SEC Form C describes a Regulation Crowdfunding securities offering, not a donation or reward campaign. PicMii Crowdfunding, LLC was named as the offering intermediary. The filing set a $75,000 target, a maximum offering amount of $5 million and a June 1, 2025 deadline; those were terms of a past offering, not an open investment opportunity.

GamesBeat later reported that Yarnhub raised $2.9 million from more than 5,000 fans. Webb said of the completed campaign, “We raised $2.9 million and that was incredible.” This reported outcome came after the SEC filing’s offering terms and should not be confused with its $5 million maximum.

What Brass Rain is—and what is planned for launch
Brass Rain is Yarnhub’s first announced game. Steam describes it as a co-op, combined-arms combat game inspired by real World War II events. Its stated launch focus is infantry and tanks. The Steam page describes aircraft and naval play as possible later expansion, rather than part of the stated launch focus.
Although the game draws on historical events and locations, Steam says it is not intended to be a simulation. Its historical setting should not be mistaken for a promise of simulation-level realism.

Brass Rain release date and monetization status
As of October 4, 2026, Steam lists Brass Rain as not yet available and gives a planned release year of 2027. Yarnhub Animation Studios is listed as both developer and publisher. This is later than the early-access target for 2026 described in GamesBeat’s November 2025 report, so the current Steam listing is the relevant status for readers checking when they can play.
The 2025 SEC filing outlined a free-to-play plan with optional spending, including proposed passes and shop purchases. Steam currently marks in-app purchases as a feature, but the available listing does not establish final prices or detailed purchase terms.
