Yes—Pearldrake Talisman Reduces Holy Damage (Here’s How Much)

Yes. Pearldrake Talisman reduces incoming Holy damage because Holy is classified as non-physical damage. It does not grant immunity: the base talisman is reported to provide 5% non-physical damage negation in PvE and 2% in PvP, with stronger versions reaching 11% in PvE. If you want the largest reduction against Holy alone, Haligdrake Talisman is the specialized alternative.

What Pearldrake Talisman does against Holy damage

Pearldrake Talisman’s effect is worded around non-physical damage rather than around one named affinity. Holy damage falls inside that non-physical category, so the talisman applies when an attack, spell or effect deals Holy damage. The same effect also covers the other damage types included in the game’s non-physical grouping, making Pearldrake broader than a Holy-only talisman.

“Negate” means damage reduction, not a complete nullification. A character wearing Pearldrake can still lose health to a Holy attack. The percentage shown for each version is the talisman’s reported reduction to eligible incoming damage; the final amount you take still depends on the attack and your other defenses.

Reported Pearldrake values by upgrade

The following percentages are item-effect values reported by the Elden Ring Wiki.gg community reference. They are not presented in an official publisher table, so treat them as reported game values and verify the current in-game description if a balance update may have changed them.

Pearldrake Talisman +2 9% 4% Non-physical damage, including Holy
Pearldrake Talisman +3 11% Not established in the cited source Non-physical damage, including Holy

The +3 version is the DLC upgrade listed in the reference. Do not infer a PvP percentage for it from the PvE figure; the consulted source does not establish one.

How much damage does that save?

Use the percentage as a proportional reduction to the eligible Holy hit. For example, if a PvE attack would deal 1,000 points of Holy damage before Pearldrake’s effect, the reported base 5% reduction removes 50 points, leaving 950 points from that portion of the hit. The reported +1, +2 and +3 values would remove 70, 90 and 110 points respectively from the same 1,000-point example.

In PvP, apply the separate PvP column rather than the PvE number. A 1,000-point eligible hit would be reduced by 20 points with the base talisman, 30 with +1 and 40 with +2, using the reported PvP values. These examples illustrate the percentages; they are not a promise that a particular weapon or spell will display exactly 1,000 points of damage in a real fight.

Many attacks combine damage types or involve additional modifiers. Pearldrake’s effect only addresses the non-physical component covered by its description. If an attack also contains physical damage, the physical portion is not transformed into Holy damage simply because Pearldrake is equipped.

Pearldrake versus Haligdrake for Holy protection

Haligdrake Talisman is the focused option when Holy is the threat you are planning around. The cited item reference reports 13% Holy negation for the base Haligdrake and 20% for Haligdrake +2. Those figures are also community-reported values rather than an official publisher specification.

Equipment Reported protection Scope Best fit
Pearldrake Talisman 5% PvE; 2% PvP All covered non-physical damage, including Holy You face several non-physical damage types and want broad coverage
Pearldrake Talisman +1 7% PvE; 3% PvP All covered non-physical damage, including Holy General-purpose non-physical defense with an upgraded talisman
Pearldrake Talisman +2 9% PvE; 4% PvP All covered non-physical damage, including Holy Mixed threats where Holy is important but not exclusive
Pearldrake Talisman +3 11% PvE; PvP value not established All covered non-physical damage, including Holy DLC PvE encounters with varied elemental threats
Haligdrake Talisman 13% Holy Holy only A fight dominated by Holy damage
Haligdrake Talisman +2 20% Holy Holy only Maximum reported Holy-specific reduction among the listed options

The choice is therefore about breadth versus specialization. Pearldrake can reduce Holy and other eligible non-physical damage at the same time. Haligdrake gives the larger reported Holy reduction in the versions listed, but it does not provide Pearldrake’s broader scope.

PvE and PvP values are not interchangeable

The reference separates player-versus-environment and player-versus-player effects. That distinction matters because using the PvE percentage to estimate an invasion or duel result overstates the protection. Keep the columns separate when comparing loadouts or calculating expected damage.

For the DLC +3 Pearldrake, only the 11% PvE value is established in the cited material. A PvP value should be recorded as “not established” rather than guessed from the upgrade pattern. If your decision is specifically for PvP, check the talisman’s current in-game behavior or a current, version-specific reference before relying on +3.

Do not confuse talisman negation with blocking Holy damage

Wearing Pearldrake and blocking an attack are separate mechanics. Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe’s Elden Ring version 1.09 notes, dated 23 March 2023, state: “Increased damage negation when blocking Holy damage and decreased damage negation when blocking damage from other affinities.” That sentence describes a change to Holy damage negation while blocking.

The patch note does not publish a new Pearldrake percentage and should not be read as a change to the talisman’s item effect. A shield’s blocking performance and a talisman’s non-physical damage reduction can both matter in the same encounter, but they are not the same statistic.

Which talisman should you equip?

Choose Pearldrake when threats are mixed

Use Pearldrake when the encounter can deal Holy alongside other non-physical damage types, or when you do not know which affinity will land most often. Its value is flexibility: one effect addresses every covered non-physical type instead of requiring a Holy-only choice.

Choose Haligdrake when Holy is the main danger

If a boss, area or opponent relies overwhelmingly on Holy damage, the reported Haligdrake values provide stronger Holy-specific protection than the listed Pearldrake versions. This is the straightforward defensive choice when coverage outside Holy has little value for the fight.

Use the correct mode for the calculation

For an invasion or duel, compare the PvP figures that are actually established. For an ordinary world or boss encounter, use the PvE figures. Do not carry a PvE number into PvP or assume the DLC +3 PvP value without verification.

Account for the attack’s damage mix

Before swapping talismans, identify whether the incoming attack is entirely Holy or combines Holy with physical or another affinity. Pearldrake’s reduction applies to its covered non-physical component; it is not a universal reduction to every part of a mixed hit.

How to check the effect in your current game version

  1. Open the talisman’s item description. Confirm that the equipped version is Pearldrake and note whether it is base, +1, +2 or the DLC +3 variant.
  2. Identify the test attack. Use an attack whose damage type is known to be Holy, and avoid comparing it with a mixed-damage attack unless you can isolate the Holy portion.
  3. Keep conditions identical. Use the same character defenses, equipment, buffs, blocking state and target for both trials. Changing any of these can obscure the talisman’s contribution.
  4. Record PvE or PvP separately. A result from an ordinary enemy is not a direct measurement of the PvP value, and vice versa.
  5. Compare multiple hits. Small display rounding or damage variation can make one hit misleading. Repeating the same test gives a more reliable indication of whether the reduction is active.

This kind of check is especially useful after a balance patch. The official version 1.09 note confirms a blocking adjustment, while the detailed talisman percentages come from a community reference; the two sources answer different questions.

Common mistakes about Pearldrake and Holy damage

  • Calling it immunity: the talisman reduces eligible damage; it does not make the wearer immune to Holy.
  • Using the PvE number in PvP: the reported PvP reductions are lower for the base, +1 and +2 versions.
  • Assuming +3 has a known PvP value: the cited material establishes only its PvE percentage.
  • Treating every hit as fully non-physical: mixed attacks can contain a physical portion that Pearldrake does not cover.
  • Reading the blocking patch note as an item buff: the version 1.09 sentence concerns Holy damage negation while blocking, not Pearldrake’s listed effect.
  • Comparing percentages without checking scope: Haligdrake’s larger figures are Holy-specific, whereas Pearldrake’s figures apply across covered non-physical damage.

How confident should you be in the exact percentages?

The classification answer is clear: Pearldrake’s non-physical protection includes Holy. The precise percentages in the tables should be treated as medium-confidence reference values because they come from Elden Ring Wiki.gg extracts rather than an official publisher table, and direct page access was unavailable for independent verification in the cited material.

That distinction does not change the practical rule. Equip Pearldrake for broad non-physical coverage, or use Haligdrake when maximizing Holy-specific protection is more important. Recheck the current item description and version-specific data if a later balance update is suspected.
