What is Yooka-Replaylee?
Yooka-Replaylee is a 3D platformer built around exploring worlds and collecting items. Playtonic Games developed it, with Playtonic Friends and PM Studios as publishers. The game is single-player and rated E10+, according to Playtonic’s official game page. It launched October 9, 2025, for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2; PC availability includes Steam and the Epic Games Store. Playtonic’s launch announcement confirms those platforms.

The premise will be familiar to players of the 2017 original: Yooka and Laylee explore colorful locations, take on challenges and gather collectibles. Playtonic presents Replaylee as an enhanced and rebuilt take on that game, rather than a wholly new sequel. That framing sets up the key question for returning players: whether the changes make revisiting the adventure feel meaningfully different.
What has changed from Yooka-Laylee?
Playtonic and its publishing partners describe changes across movement, navigation, challenges and presentation. These are official feature claims, not independent assessments of how well each change works in play.

Other returning elements include Rextro’s isometric challenges. In its August 29, 2025 launch announcement, Playtonic said every move, mechanic and moment had been redesigned to make the game more modern, welcoming and joyful. That is the developer’s stated goal; it does not by itself establish whether the redesigned controls, camera or challenge flow are improvements.
Is Yooka-Replaylee worth playing?
Whether it is worth playing depends on what you want from a platformer and how the redesign feels to you. The official descriptions establish an expanded collectathon with new and revised moves, more content, customization and refreshed presentation. They do not establish how satisfying its movement is, whether the camera behaves well, how repetitive collecting feels, or how consistently the challenges are paced. Those are central questions for a review, and the available evidence does not support a hands-on verdict.
For someone considering a purchase, the practical distinction is between interest in the format and confidence in the execution. If exploring colorful worlds, collecting items and tackling varied platforming challenges is appealing, Replaylee’s stated feature set may be a fit. If you need to know whether its controls, camera, difficulty balance or technical performance are strong on your platform, consult an independent review that tests the version you intend to play. Playtonic’s own characterization of the game as joyful and its publisher’s description of it as a definitive collectathon are promotional claims, not independent quality assessments.

The game is available digitally on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. Physical editions were announced for PS5, Switch 2 and Xbox Series X|S. Playtonic’s December 18, 2025 announcement says each physical edition includes a keepsake map and stickers. It also states that the Xbox Series X|S physical edition is exclusive to North America.
