Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →If a YouTube live stream keeps stopping on ACT Fibernet, first compare the same stream on another device, then compare Wi-Fi with wired Ethernet if possible. Those checks can help narrow the issue to a device, home Wi-Fi, or a wider connection problem—but they do not, by themselves, prove packet loss or an ACT network fault. This guide focuses on playback as a viewer; advice for broadcasting your own stream is different.
First, identify what is disconnecting
Note the channel, approximate time, viewing device, whether it is on Wi-Fi or Ethernet, and what happens when the problem occurs. Distinguish among buffering, playback stopping, and the device reporting that it has lost internet access. These symptoms are useful when comparing tests and when reporting the issue.
A high advertised plan speed does not identify the cause. A stream may be interrupted by a problem on one device, weak or interfered-with Wi-Fi, competing network use, or a broader connection issue. The available guidance cannot establish whether there is an ACT outage or packet loss at your address.
Run these comparisons in order
-
Try the same stream on another device
Use another supported device on the same ACT connection. Also try a different YouTube video or another service. If only one device has trouble, focus first on that device, its app or browser, and its connection to the router. If several devices or services fail, the issue may be broader, but this comparison still does not establish the root cause.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
-
Reduce Wi-Fi distance and competing traffic
Move the viewing device closer to the router, with fewer walls and other obstructions in the way. Temporarily pause large downloads and reduce other active network use, then see whether the stream behaves differently. If the problem changes, that is a clue about local conditions or network load—not proof of a particular fault.
-
Compare Wi-Fi with Ethernet
If the viewing device has an Ethernet port, connect it to the router with a cable and replay the stream. ACT describes Cat5e and Cat6 wired connections as an option and says a wired connection can provide consistent performance. Check that the cable is long enough and compatible with your device. If Ethernet works while Wi-Fi does not, investigate router placement, Wi-Fi interference, or home equipment; a cable does not repair an ISP-side fault.

Lower playback quality temporarily
Choose a lower playback quality in YouTube and compare. YouTube Help recommends a minimum connection speed of 7 Mbps for HD streaming on TV. That is general playback guidance, not a guarantee against interruptions or a diagnosis of packet loss. ACT also publishes bitrate figures for sending a live broadcast; those are upload figures for broadcasters, not download thresholds for viewers.
-
Restart and update
Restart the router and viewing device. Then check for updates to the YouTube app, browser, and device software. Retest the same stream after each change where practical, so you can tell whether a specific step made a difference.

Repeat at another time and record the result
Note whether the problem recurs at particular times, whether it affects more than one device or service, and whether Ethernet behaves differently from Wi-Fi. These comparisons can help support staff investigate; they do not independently confirm packet loss.
What the results can—and cannot—tell you
| What you observe | What to check next | What it does not prove |
|---|---|---|
| Only one device has trouble | That device’s app or browser, software updates, and Wi-Fi connection | It does not establish the exact device fault. |
| Wi-Fi fails but Ethernet works | Router placement, obstructions, interference, and home Wi-Fi equipment | It does not show that Ethernet fixed an ACT-side fault. |
| Several devices or services fail | Record times and comparisons, then contact ACT | It does not confirm an outage or packet loss without provider-side evidence. |
| YouTube alone has trouble | Compare a second YouTube video, another device, and another connection if available | It does not establish whether the cause is the particular stream, app, or network path. |

- Dates and approximate times when playback stopped or buffered.
- The devices tested and whether each used Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
- Whether other YouTube videos and other services had the same problem.
- Whether reducing other network use or lowering playback quality changed the symptom.
This information makes the symptom easier to describe without claiming a packet-loss result you have not measured. The available sources do not verify a current local outage, identify your router model, or provide an account-specific packet-loss test.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. If you meant your own YouTube broadcast
The checks above concern receiving and watching a live stream. A broadcaster’s upload connection is a separate issue: ACT’s published live-stream bitrates describe sending video, not watching it. Do not use those upload figures as a viewer’s required download speed. If your own broadcast disconnects, that is a different troubleshooting question from playback on your device.

Or let it run in the cloud
For a pre-recorded YouTube broadcast, StreamNeo is a cloud option rather than a fix for a viewer’s ACT connection. Upload your video, add your YouTube stream key, and go live; the cloud loops the uploaded video, so your computer and home connection do not have to stay on. It supports the uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream, and gives the first day free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo or start the free day.
