If your YouTube 24/7 stream stops while you’re on BSNL broadband, the connection may be involved—but the interruption alone does not prove BSNL caused it. First capture YouTube’s Live Control Room status or error, check the encoder and its source, then compare sustained upload capacity with the stream’s total bitrate. Contact BSNL if those checks point to a connection fault.
What to check first when a YouTube stream stops
Use the evidence from the moment of failure to separate a YouTube ingest issue, an encoder or source issue, and an outbound connection problem. YouTube’s live-stream troubleshooting guidance recommends checking the encoder and outbound connection; it does not identify BSNL as the cause of any particular interruption.
- Note what happened: Write down the stop time and whether your encoder disconnected, YouTube ended the event, or the event remained open but stopped receiving video.
- Read the Live Control Room: Check the stream health or status indicator and record its exact message and instructions before changing or resetting anything. YouTube says the status area provides specific errors and instructions.
- Inspect the encoder and source: Check the encoder preview, logs, CPU load, and the video and audio being sent. If you record locally, note whether the archive file continues to grow.
- Test outbound upload: Measure upload under conditions similar to the live stream, and repeat at another time if results vary. Compare the available upload with the encoder’s total bitrate, not only the video bitrate.
- Isolate the connection if needed: If the encoder and source appear healthy but upload or connectivity tests fail, repeat a controlled test. A short test stream on an independent connection can help identify whether the problem follows the network path.
Keep the timestamp, YouTube error text, encoder logs, and upload-test results together. They make a support request more actionable than a report that the stream simply stopped.
Check encoder health and the material being sent
Make sure the encoder is current, then inspect its own preview and logs at the time of the interruption. Check whether its CPU is overloaded and whether the local video or audio source stopped, froze, or changed format. If you record locally, a growing archive can help show that the encoder is still receiving or processing material, though it does not by itself prove that YouTube is receiving the stream.

YouTube identifies format, bitrate, and audio configuration problems among possible ingestion errors. Its guidance is to check image and sound directly in the encoder; if the encoder output looks healthy, investigate the outbound connection next. The Live Control Room status and error details help determine which branch to follow.
Compare sustained upload with stream bitrate
Test upload, not just download: YouTube notes that inbound bandwidth is often greater than outbound. Its streaming tips recommend leaving 20% bandwidth headroom above the stream bitrate and warn, “A disruption on your connectivity could mean a broken stream.” The stream’s total bitrate must fit within available upload bandwidth, with room for other network traffic.

For H.264, YouTube lists these recommended video bitrates at the following settings. They are encoder recommendations, not a guarantee of line speed, sustained throughput, or uninterrupted streaming.

For example, applying YouTube’s 20% headroom guidance to a 5 Mbps video bitrate gives a simple target of at least 6 Mbps of available upload for the video payload. Audio and other network use add to the total; this arithmetic is not a BSNL plan promise or a measured result.

Run an upload-oriented speed test while other household or office traffic is representative of stream time. Repeat it if results vary, and compare the sustained result with the encoder’s configured total bitrate. A single speed-test peak does not establish that upload will remain stable through a long stream.
Adjust settings only after checking the evidence
If YouTube reports insufficient bandwidth for the selected stream or upload is marginal or unstable, lower the resolution or bitrate to a setting the connection can support, then monitor stream health during a realistic test. YouTube recommends lowering the selected resolution when bandwidth is insufficient. Do not assume that a particular BSNL plan or access type has a universal usable upload speed.

Before a long broadcast, test with realistic audio and video movement rather than a static screen alone. Monitor Live Control Room health during the test, and check whether a configured backup encoder failover is working. A steady source and an encoder that remains healthy do not rule out an upload-path fault, but they narrow what to investigate.

If the encoder and local output look healthy but outbound upload or connectivity tests show a fault, contact the ISP with the time of each interruption, test results, the YouTube error text, and relevant encoder logs. YouTube’s troubleshooting guidance says: “If you find issues with your internet connection: Contact your internet service provider to troubleshoot.”

BSNL lists 1800-4444 for Bharat Fiber, broadband, and landline customer care. Its official self-care portal also supports complaint booking and status checks. Ask support to investigate the connection based on the fault and evidence; an interruption’s timing or the fact that you use BSNL is not, on its own, a diagnosis.
Check your actual plan and service terms
Do not infer your subscribed upload speed from a plan example or a headline tariff. The provider, access type, circle, eligibility, fair-use terms, and current plan conditions matter. For context, official BharatNet tariff pages list examples including Rural Entry at 25 Mbps up to 700 GB, then up to 2 Mbps; Fibre Home WiFi at 40 Mbps up to 1,400 GB, then up to 4 Mbps; and Fibre Value Plus OTT at 150 Mbps up to 5,000 GB, then up to 10 Mbps. These are tariff-page examples, not universal BSNL plans or evidence of your own subscribed service; another official BharatNet page lists different examples. Check the applicable area and current terms for your specific connection.
Let the evidence choose the next step
- Keep the current settings if sustained upload is stable with headroom, encoder output is healthy, and YouTube reports no relevant health problem.
- Lower bitrate or resolution if YouTube reports insufficient bandwidth or your sustained upload cannot comfortably support the configured total bitrate.
- Troubleshoot the encoder or source if its preview, logs, CPU load, local archive, or YouTube’s format, bitrate, or audio error points there.
- Escalate to BSNL if outbound connection tests show a fault while the encoder and local output appear healthy.
- Compare another connection with a controlled short test if practical. It can help isolate the path, but it does not prove that the alternate connection can support 24/7 use.
