For a 1080p60 gaming rerun sent to YouTube Live, use 17 Mbps for H.264 or 12 Mbps for AV1/H.265, with constant bitrate (CBR) and a two-second keyframe interval. Those are YouTube’s live-ingest recommendations, not settings for uploading a finished video. A normal 1080p high-frame-rate SDR upload has a separate recommended bitrate of 12 Mbps.
YouTube does not publish a special bitrate profile for “rerun” streams. The live settings below apply when previously recorded gameplay is encoded and sent as a live broadcast; that is an operational interpretation of YouTube’s separate live and upload guidance.
Recommended 1080p60 settings for a live rerun
Use the settings for the codec your encoder sends. YouTube’s current live encoder guidance, checked October 3, 2026, gives these recommendations for 1080p60:

These are YouTube’s published ingest settings, not a guarantee that every connection or encoder can sustain the target. YouTube transcodes live streams into multiple output formats for different devices and networks. Test with audio and motion similar to the planned broadcast, check your available upload capacity, and monitor stream health. YouTube’s guidance says, “Make sure to test before you start your live stream. Tests should include audio and movement in the video similar to what you’ll be doing in the stream.” YouTube Help: Choose live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions.

Choose the right bitrate for your codec and connection
If the encoder sends H.264
Set video bitrate to 17 Mbps for YouTube’s 1080p60 recommendation. The listed minimum is 6 Mbps, but it is a floor rather than the recommended target. If your connection cannot sustain 17 Mbps, first test whether a lower bitrate remains stable; expect a trade-off in the signal you send, especially in fast-moving gameplay.
If the encoder sends AV1 or H.265/HEVC
Set video bitrate to 12 Mbps, YouTube’s recommendation for these codecs at 1080p60. The listed minimum is 4 Mbps. Confirm that the encoder and your chosen live workflow actually support the codec before selecting this setting.

Do not size the connection from its advertised peak
The encoder needs stable upstream capacity for the stream, not merely a brief speed-test maximum. Test at the bitrate you intend to use while including representative motion and audio, then check YouTube’s stream health. If the ingest is unstable, reduce the outgoing bitrate or address the upload connection before relying on the stream for a complete replay.
Live ingest bitrate is not uploaded-VOD bitrate
A rerun can mean either rebroadcasting recorded gameplay through YouTube Live or uploading a rendered recording as a regular video. The settings differ because the first is a real-time live feed and the second is a file upload.

For a rendered SDR VOD uploaded normally, use YouTube’s separate 12 Mbps recommendation for 1080p high-frame-rate content. Do not substitute that upload figure for the live encoder bitrate. See YouTube Help: Recommended upload encoding settings.
Plan for the replay archive
YouTube can automatically archive a stream that is under 12 hours. A stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all, so do not depend on one continuous broadcast to preserve a complete long rerun. YouTube recommends making a local recording as a backup. The space required depends on the recording settings and duration; an external SSD is one possible place to keep local recordings, but YouTube does not specify a required device or capacity. Reuse stream setup without treating it as a bitrate preset
YouTube’s Live Control Room can reuse settings from a previous stream, including metadata, settings, and the stream key, and lets you change settings for the new stream. Reusing those details can simplify setup, but it does not create a special rerun bitrate profile: check the encoder’s codec, bitrate, CBR, keyframe interval, and other output settings for each broadcast.
