For YouTube Live at 1080p and 25 fps, use 14 Mbps video bitrate only as a starting reference if your Airtel connection can sustain it. YouTube’s current H.264 guidance gives 14 Mbps as the recommended bitrate for 1080p at 30 fps, not 25 fps; its table has no separate 25 fps row. Test your actual upload under broadcast conditions and lower the bitrate if the stream is unstable.
What bitrate should you use?
YouTube’s current H.264 live-encoder guidance lists 5 Mbps minimum and 14 Mbps recommended for 1080p at 30 fps. Because the published table does not include a 1080p 25 fps entry, treat those figures as the closest frame-rate reference—not an exact specification for 25 fps. YouTube’s live encoder settings guidance recommends testing upload bitrate rather than assuming a connection can sustain a chosen setting.
If a sustained test at your broadcast location and time supports 14 Mbps, it is a reasonable initial video bitrate to try. If upload speed fluctuates, other people or devices use the connection, or YouTube reports poor stream health, reduce the bitrate until the stream is stable. The right amount of headroom depends on actual variation and competing traffic; an Airtel plan’s advertised speed alone cannot establish it.
Recommended encoder settings
- Resolution: 1920×1080.
- Frame rate: 25 fps, if that matches your production workflow.
- Codec: H.264 is the codec for which the closest YouTube bitrate reference above is given. YouTube’s current guidance also lists H.265 (HEVC) and AV1 as supported codecs; do not assume the H.264 bitrate figures apply identically to them.
- Rate control: CBR (constant bitrate).
- Keyframe interval: 2 seconds; YouTube says not to exceed 4 seconds.
- Video bitrate: Start with 14 Mbps only if your test supports it; reduce it if the connection cannot sustain the rate reliably.
Test Airtel upload before going live
- Test the connection you will actually use. Run a sustained upload test at the venue and around the time you plan to stream. A result from another location or time does not guarantee stability for your broadcast.
- Use the real stream conditions. YouTube advises testing before going live with audio and movement similar to the intended broadcast. Include the kinds of scenes and motion your stream will contain.
- Start with a bitrate the test can support. If the upload varies or the household connection is shared, lower the video bitrate until the encoder and YouTube’s stream health indicate a stable result. Do not treat a speed-test peak as sustained capacity.
- Check YouTube Live Control Room. Monitor stream health and messages during the pre-stream test, then keep monitoring while live. If health deteriorates, reduce bitrate and check whether other traffic is consuming upload capacity.
- Repeat when conditions change. Retest if you change networks, move from Ethernet to Wi-Fi, stream at a busier time, or add other upload-heavy activity.
Why an Airtel plan speed cannot pick the bitrate for you
Airtel’s published terms describe plan speeds as maximums associated with the selected tariff and say actual speed may vary because of congestion and technical or other circumstances. The plan name or advertised speed therefore cannot establish the sustained upload available to your encoder. Your local connection, network setup, time of day, and other household traffic all matter.

- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Airtel’s current terms accessed in 2026 list a fair-usage threshold of 3333 GB per billing cycle, after which speed is reduced to 1 Mbps. Confirm that this condition applies to your particular plan before relying on it: Airtel broadband terms. Airtel also publishes a test-setup-specific typical 10th-percentile download/upload result of 18 Mbps / 8 Mbps. That is a population and test-setup figure, not an individual customer guarantee, and should not be used to predict your line’s live-stream capacity: Airtel broadband speed information.
TRAI’s broadband FAQ addresses fair-speed usage and minimum prescribed broadband speeds, but it does not establish an upload guarantee for your Airtel service.

Troubleshooting unstable 1080p streaming
- YouTube reports unstable or poor stream health: Lower the video bitrate, retest, and watch stream health again. If other devices are uploading, pause or limit that activity during the broadcast.
- The encoder cannot hold the selected bitrate: Use a lower CBR setting and repeat the test with representative motion and audio. Do not raise the bitrate solely because the tariff advertises a higher maximum speed.
- The stream works at one time but not another: Congestion and other changing conditions can affect actual speed. Test near the planned broadcast time and choose a bitrate that remains stable under those conditions.
- Monthly data use is unusually high: Check the fair-usage terms for your plan, including whether the listed threshold and resulting speed reduction apply to you.
Or let it run in the cloud
