For a 25p production, send YouTube Live a 25 fps progressive stream. Keep the source’s native cadence rather than converting it just to match a different nominal frame rate. If your source is 1080i/50, deinterlace it to progressive first: 50 interlaced fields per second are not 50 progressive frames.
Recommended settings for a 25p source
- Frame rate: 25 fps progressive.
- Scan: Progressive. Use square pixels and Rec. 709 for SDR.
- Codec and delivery: YouTube recommends RTMPS and lists H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1 as supported encoding options.
- Rate control: Constant bitrate (CBR).
- Keyframes: Set a 2-second interval; do not exceed 4 seconds.
YouTube’s live encoder guidance allows frame rates up to 60 fps, so 25 fps is within its stated ceiling. Its upload recommendations separately list 25 fps as a common rate and advise retaining the rate at which the material was recorded; that upload guidance supports preserving cadence but is not a live bitrate specification. What to do with 1080i/50 footage
Deinterlace interlaced footage before sending it as a live stream. In 1080i/50, the 50 refers to fields per second: the fields combine into 25 interlaced frames each second. That is different from 1080p25, which is 25 complete progressive frames each second. Do not label 50 interlaced fields as 50 progressive frames; choose a deinterlacing method in your encoder or production chain and check moving edges for combing or softness in a test.
YouTube explicitly recommends deinterlacing interlaced material in its upload guidance and identifies progressive scan as the recommended live frame type. The distinction between 1080p25 and 1080i/50 is also explained in a technical passage hosted in a TRAI CMS document; the passage’s author and original publication date are not established. - Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Choosing a bitrate when YouTube has no 25 fps row
YouTube’s current live bitrate table includes recommendations at 30 fps and 60 fps, but does not give a separate 25 fps value. Do not present an upload bitrate recommendation or a 30 fps live value as an official 25 fps setting.
- Choose your resolution and codec first.
- If you need a starting estimate, use YouTube’s 30 fps live recommendation for the same resolution and codec as a proxy, not as an official 25 fps value.
- Run a private or unlisted test stream and inspect the stream health, image quality, and audio before relying on that setting for an event.
- Keep the bitrate within the sustained capacity of your upload connection. A lower stable bitrate is preferable to a high setting that your upstream cannot maintain.
The 30 fps comparison is only a practical starting point because YouTube publishes no 25 fps live row. Upload recommendations are a separate set of guidance and should not be substituted for live ingest figures. YouTube live encoder settings

How to validate the stream before going live
- Set the encoder to the source’s intended resolution, codec, 25 fps progressive output, CBR, and a 2-second keyframe interval.
- For 1080i/50 input, enable deinterlacing and confirm the output is progressive at the intended frame rate.
- Send the test over RTMPS using the stream key configured in YouTube Studio.
- Include representative movement, such as pans or fast action, and audio similar to the real programme. Check for judder, combing, dropped frames, and audio problems.
- Monitor YouTube’s stream health and adjust bitrate or resolution if the connection cannot sustain the chosen settings.
YouTube says it will automatically detect resolution and frame rate by default; if you configure the encoder manually, still verify the actual incoming stream and its health during the test. Live output is transcoded by YouTube into multiple viewer formats, so the encoder’s ingest setting is not the only rendition viewers may receive. YouTube live encoder settings
Copyright and channel-policy checks
Frame-rate compliance does not establish that you have permission to stream the programme. Before broadcasting TV-style material, confirm that you own or have licensed the video, music, and other included material for live use on YouTube. A test stream also helps catch technical faults, but it does not guarantee that a stream will avoid copyright claims or satisfy YouTube’s channel monetization policies. Review YouTube’s current live-streaming rules and rights for the material you plan to use.
