If YouTube Live Control Room reports that your stream’s audio bitrate is too low, check the encoder’s audio settings first. For stereo, YouTube recommends 128 Kbps at 44.1 kHz. Hindi music does not require a special bitrate: YouTube’s guidance differentiates by audio format and channel configuration, not language.
What to change first
- Open your encoder’s audio output settings. Set stereo audio to 128 Kbps. The warning concerns the audio sent to YouTube, not the video bitrate. YouTube describes both audio bitrates below and above its recommendation as incorrect: Choose live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions and Live streaming error messages.
- Check sample rate and channels. For stereo, set 44.1 kHz and two channels. Send one audio stream. YouTube’s error guidance supports one or two audio channels and warns that multiple audio streams can cause ingestion problems.
- Check the audio codec and bitrate mode. For RTMP/RTMPS, YouTube lists AAC or MP3 and recommends constant bitrate (CBR). Make sure the encoder is actually applying the settings to the outgoing stream, rather than only to a local recording or source track.
- Restart or reconnect the stream if necessary, then preview it. Check Stream health in Live Control Room for the warning and listen to the preview before relying on the playlist for a long broadcast.
YouTube’s settings table states: “Audio bitrate: 128-Kbps for stereo or 384 Kbps for 5.1 surround sound.” See YouTube Help’s encoder settings.
Does a Hindi playlist need a different audio bitrate?
No language-specific bitrate is given in YouTube’s cited live-stream settings. A Hindi bhajan, song playlist, or other Hindi-language stream uses the audio settings appropriate to its channel format. Do not raise video bitrate to address an audio-bitrate warning; YouTube’s video recommendations depend on video codec, resolution, and frame rate, and are a separate setting.
Choose settings for stereo or 5.1
| Audio format | YouTube-recommended bitrate | Sample rate | Codec notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stereo | 128 Kbps | 44.1 kHz | For RTMP/RTMPS, AAC or MP3 |
| 5.1 surround | 384 Kbps | 48 kHz | For RTMP/RTMPS, AAC only |
These are YouTube’s stated recommendations, not language-specific targets. If your playlist is intended to be stereo, use the stereo row; do not set 5.1 values unless you are actually sending 5.1 audio. Refer to YouTube’s encoder settings for the protocol and format guidance.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Check the warning and test the actual stream
Live Control Room’s Stream health area shows status and specific error messages. YouTube says errors are timestamped and recur while unresolved; critical errors appear in red and moderate errors in yellow. Use the message currently shown there rather than assuming the playlist language or video quality is responsible. See Live streaming error messages and See your live stream’s metrics.
- Test with audio and video similar to the actual stream, as YouTube recommends in Streaming tips.
- Listen to the Live Control Room preview and confirm the expected audio is present and in sync.
- Check the encoder’s own status and, if available, a local recording. If the encoder output itself is quiet, distorted, or missing, investigate its audio source and routing as well as the bitrate setting.
- Monitor Stream health while the test is live. After a stream ends, YouTube says post-stream analytics become available in YouTube Analytics within minutes.
If the warning remains: isolate the cause
- The encoder is sending less than 128 Kbps for stereo: confirm the selected bitrate on the active output profile, apply the change, and reconnect or start a fresh test stream.
- The configured value looks right, but YouTube still flags it: verify that the live output uses that profile, that it sends one audio stream, and that the channel count is one or two. Check for an unsupported codec or a missing audio stream, both of which YouTube lists among possible ingestion errors.
- Local audio is also poor or absent: inspect the audio source, routing, encoder errors, and CPU load. A local recording can help distinguish a problem created before transmission from one occurring during delivery.
- Local audio is healthy but the live stream is not: investigate outbound internet speed and connection reliability, including whether the network is shared. YouTube’s troubleshooting guidance recommends checking the connection and contacting the ISP if it appears to be the source of problems: Troubleshoot your YouTube live stream. Network trouble can affect the stream overall, but the low-audio-bitrate warning points first to the encoded audio bitrate.
If you are using HLS instead of RTMP/RTMPS
Do not apply RTMP/RTMPS codec assumptions without checking your protocol. YouTube’s HLS setup guidance lists AAC, AC3, and EAC3 audio, while retaining the 128 Kbps stereo and 384 Kbps 5.1 recommendations. HLS also has protocol-specific requirements: TS segments must be 1–4 seconds, and the rolling playlist must have no more than five outstanding segments. YouTube notes that HLS has higher latency than continuous RTMP ingestion. These HLS details matter only if your encoder is actually sending HLS. See Set up an HLS stream.
