For a 720p, 30 fps YouTube music stream, set the encoder to 1280×720 progressive at 30 fps, use CBR over RTMP or RTMPS, and set a two-second keyframe interval. YouTube recommends 8 Mbps video for H.264 or 6 Mbps for AV1/H.265 at this resolution and frame rate. Before streaming Punjabi music around the clock, also confirm the rights cover the live broadcast and any archive: YouTube may interrupt a stream that matches unallowlisted copyrighted content.
Recommended YouTube Live settings for 720p30
YouTube’s current live encoder guidance gives these video bitrate recommendations for 720p at 30 fps. The minimums are lower, but the recommended rates are the appropriate starting point when your encoder and upload connection can sustain them.

These are YouTube’s published encoder recommendations, not a guarantee that a particular computer, encoder, or connection will sustain them. For codec-specific settings and current guidance, see YouTube’s live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions.
Set up the encoder and YouTube stream
- Create or schedule the live stream. In YouTube Studio, choose Create > Go live, then create or schedule a stream using the encoder workflow. For the current workflow and stream setup, follow YouTube’s guide to creating a live stream with an encoder.
- Choose the stream key and resolution behavior. YouTube’s default and recommended approach is automatic resolution and frame-rate detection. If you need to select resolution manually, create a custom stream key and enable manual settings; set the encoder to 1280×720 at 30 fps.
- Enter the encoder settings. Select a supported codec, the corresponding recommended video bitrate from the table, CBR, RTMP or RTMPS, and a two-second keyframe interval. Set stereo audio to AAC or MP3 at 44.1 kHz and 128 kbps, and use the SDR picture settings listed above when applicable.
- Connect the encoder. Copy the server URL and stream key from YouTube Studio into the matching fields in your encoder. Treat the stream key as a credential: do not publish it or share it with anyone who should not be able to broadcast to your stream.
- Test before going live. YouTube advises testing with audio and movement similar to the real stream, then checking stream health and any messages while live. Confirm that video and audio are arriving as intended before relying on a long-running broadcast.
How much upload speed does 720p30 need?
Measure outbound upload capacity, not just download speed. YouTube says the total streaming bitrate must fit within available upload bandwidth and recommends leaving 20% room; shared networks can reduce the bandwidth available to your encoder. Include audio and any backup stream in the total, not only the video bitrate. See YouTube’s streaming tips for its bandwidth guidance.

For example, an 8 Mbps H.264 video stream needs more than 8 Mbps of available upload once audio is included. If you interpret the 20% reserve as 20% of measured capacity, video, audio, and any backup feed together should use no more than 80% of sustained upload capacity. A wired connection and monitoring can help operationally, but the cited YouTube guidance does not prescribe a particular router, ISP, or failover product.
Plan for the limits of a 24/7 broadcast
Do not count on one 24-hour YouTube archive
YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived. If a stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all. YouTube recommends making a local recording as a backup. If an archive matters, plan how to record locally and consider shorter broadcast segments; do not assume that dividing a broadcast will preserve uninterrupted playback for viewers. Check stream health and recovery separately
A bitrate setting does not prevent a network or encoder failure. Decide how someone or something will detect a stopped feed, restore the encoder or connection, and verify that playback has resumed. YouTube’s general settings guidance recommends testing and monitoring but does not define a complete 24/7 failover design.
Clear the rights for every Punjabi track
YouTube scans live streams for matches with third-party content. If it identifies copyrighted material, it may replace the broadcast with a placeholder and warn the operator; continued use can interrupt or terminate the stream. - Check the actual rights for each recording and use. A song’s rights may involve the recording, composition, performers, label, publisher, and other royalty participants. Confirm the license covers the relevant territories and a live YouTube broadcast; separately check whether it covers an archived replay or other on-demand use.
- Ask about Content ID allowlisting. YouTube says a channel using licensed third-party content should ask the rights owner to add it to the Content ID allowlist. A license by itself may not prevent a live interruption if the channel is not allowlisted.
- Keep documentation and confirm scope. The necessary permissions depend on the works, territories, and license terms. YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions require the provider to have necessary worldwide rights for live content, including applicable music licensing rights.
Do not assume that a track is cleared because it is popular, available elsewhere online, or included in a playlist. The rights for a particular Punjabi recording cannot be determined without reviewing its license and the rights owner’s terms.
