Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →YouTube does not publish a specific live-stream bitrate recommendation for 1080p at 50 fps. Its nearest official recommendations are 14 Mbps for H.264 at 1080p30 and 17 Mbps at 1080p60; for AV1 or H.265, they are 10 Mbps and 12 Mbps, respectively. Treat those as reference points, not an official 1080p50 target. Test your chosen setting with your encoder and upload connection, then monitor stream health in YouTube Live Control Room.
What bitrate should you use for a 1080p 50fps YouTube live loop?
There is no exact figure in YouTube’s live encoder table for 1080p at 50 fps. YouTube’s official table, checked on 2026-10-03, provides adjacent recommendations for 30 and 60 fps. It does not display a publication or update year, so these values should not be assigned a guessed year. YouTube’s live encoder settings list:
| Live video format | AV1 / H.265 minimum | AV1 / H.265 recommended | H.264 minimum | H.264 recommended |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1080p, 30 fps | 4 Mbps | 10 Mbps | 5 Mbps | 14 Mbps |
| 1080p, 60 fps | 4 Mbps | 12 Mbps | 6 Mbps | 17 Mbps |
These are YouTube’s recommended values for the listed codec, resolution and frame-rate combinations. They are not separate recommendations for 50 fps, and the table does not establish that a 50 fps stream should use a particular midpoint. Use the figures as context for a test rather than labeling an interpolated value as YouTube’s recommendation.
A looped video does not change the published table: YouTube does not specify a different bitrate for loops or mostly static images. Base the setting on the actual output format and test the loop under realistic conditions.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Why the upload bitrate advice is not the live bitrate
YouTube’s prerecorded-video upload guidance discusses high-frame-rate uploads, including 50 fps, but that is a separate workflow from live ingest. It does not supply the missing 1080p50 live recommendation. Do not take a bitrate from the upload page and present it as YouTube’s live target. See YouTube’s upload encoding settings for the distinct upload guidance.
Configure the encoder for a reliable test
Set your encoder to the intended 1920 × 1080, 50 fps output, then choose the codec and bitrate you want to evaluate. YouTube’s general live guidance supplies these additional settings:

- 5-in-1 USB-C Hub: Experience comprehensive connectivity featuring a Power Delivery input, two USB-A 2.0 ports, a USB-A 3.0 port, and an HDMI port. (Note: The USB-C power delivery input port is only for connecting an external wall charger to power your laptop and cannot power peripheral devices.)
- 90W Pass-Through Charging: Achieve optimal charging with 90W pass-through power to your laptop, supported by a total input of 100W, with the hub reserving 10W for operational efficiency. (Note: Wall charger not included.)
- Quick Data Transfers: Accelerate your productivity with rapid data transfers using a high-speed 5Gbps USB 3.0 port and two 480Mbps USB 2.0 ports.
- 4K HDMI Display: Enhance your visual experience with a hub capable of delivering 4K resolution at 30Hz in both mirror and extend modes. Please note that this hub is compatible with MacBook (macOS 12 and newer), Windows 10 and 11, ChromeOS, and laptops equipped with DP Alt Mode and Power Delivery. Note: This device is not compatible with Linux.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
- Protocol: RTMP or RTMPS; YouTube recommends RTMPS.
- Video codecs: H.264, H.265 (HEVC), or AV1.
- Bitrate mode: CBR (constant bitrate).
- Keyframe interval: two seconds recommended; do not exceed four seconds.
- SDR color: Rec. 709 color space and 8-bit depth are listed in YouTube’s advanced settings.
- Frame rate: YouTube’s live encoder guidance lists up to 60 fps.
These are platform-level encoder settings, not a promise that every encoder exposes identical labels or options. Confirm that the software is actually sending the resolution, frame rate, codec and bitrate you selected.
Test the loop and connection before going live
- Check the upload connection. Run a speed test on the same connection and, if possible, device or network path you plan to use. The available upload rate needs to sustain the stream; YouTube does not prescribe a fixed headroom percentage.
- Run a preflight with representative content. Include audio and movement similar to the actual stream, even if the loop is mostly static. YouTube advises: “Make sure to test before you start your live stream. Tests should include audio and movement in the video similar to what you’ll be doing in the stream.”
- Check Live Control Room. Review stream health and messages while the test is running. YouTube advises: “During the event, monitor the stream health and review messages.”
- Adjust based on observed delivery. If the connection or stream health is unstable, test a lower bitrate or a less demanding output configuration and check again. Do not assume that a setting is reliable simply because it falls between YouTube’s 30 fps and 60 fps recommendations.
Common bitrate and stream problems
- Unstable stream or dropped frames: The upload path may not consistently sustain the configured stream. Retest the connection, reduce the bitrate or output demands, and inspect Live Control Room messages.
- Soft or blocky video: The selected bitrate may not suit the motion and detail in the loop. Compare test runs at different settings while keeping codec, resolution and content consistent.
- Wrong frame rate or resolution in the live output: The encoder may be sending a different format than intended. Verify its output settings and confirm the resulting stream in Live Control Room.
- Using a prerecorded upload figure: Upload encoding guidance is not live ingest guidance. Use YouTube’s live encoder table as the live reference and recognize that it has no 1080p50 row.
Or let it run in the cloud
If the goal is to keep a pre-recorded video loop live on YouTube, StreamNeo can run it from the cloud after you upload the recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay running at home. It streams the uploaded file as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot regardless of quality, and can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly: $9.99 per month. StreamNeo is for YouTube streaming only. See StreamNeo, or start your free day.
