If the link is valid and accessible, work out whether the problem is WhatsApp connectivity or Android opening the link in the wrong app.
Share the playlist link again from YouTube
- Open the playlist in the YouTube Android app. You can find it from the channel page under Playlists.
- Open the playlist’s more-options menu and tap Share, then choose WhatsApp. Or tap Copy link and paste the copied URL into the chat.
- After sending, tap the link yourself or ask the recipient to check what opens. This separates a problem sharing the link from a problem opening it.
YouTube documents this playlist-sharing workflow for Android. YouTube: Share videos and channels.
Confirm the link points to the playlist
A playlist link identifies the playlist; a video watch link may identify only one video that happens to be in it. On desktop, YouTube’s documented playlist URL pattern includes youtube.com/playlist?list=. If you are unsure, copy the link again using the playlist’s own Share or Copy link control rather than copying a video URL.
YouTube: Share playlists describes how to share a playlist and identify its URL.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
Check playlist visibility and private videos
A working URL does not guarantee that every recipient can watch the playlist. If it includes private videos, YouTube says viewers must be invited to see them. Check the playlist’s visibility and whether the recipient has the required access before troubleshooting WhatsApp.
If the link opens but YouTube says a video or playlist is unavailable, access or visibility is a more useful place to start than Android link settings.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
Choose the fix that matches what happens
| What you see | What to check next |
|---|---|
| The link is missing, incomplete, or opens one video instead of the playlist | Copy the playlist link from YouTube and send it again. Confirm that it is the playlist URL. |
| The playlist opens, but some videos are unavailable | Check playlist visibility and whether the recipient has been invited to view private videos. |
| WhatsApp also has trouble sending or opening other content | Check the connection and try the general WhatsApp steps below. |
| The link opens in a browser rather than the YouTube app | Check Android’s YouTube supported-link or default-app handling, if your device exposes that setting. The menu path varies by device; this is not a guaranteed universal fix. |
| YouTube shows an error while you try to share to WhatsApp | Try updating the apps, restarting the phone, and sharing from a browser for comparison before considering more disruptive app resets. |
When WhatsApp connectivity may be involved
If WhatsApp cannot send or open other content either, test the network rather than focusing only on the playlist link:
- Check that the phone has an internet connection.
- Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data to see whether the result changes.
- Restart the phone.
- Update WhatsApp and Android.
WhatsApp’s cited help concerns media files, not specifically YouTube playlist deep links, so these are general connectivity and app checks—not a confirmed fix for every link-opening problem. WhatsApp Help Center: Problems downloading or sending media files.

If Android opens the link in a browser
If the URL works in a browser but does not launch YouTube, inspect the device’s link-handling settings for YouTube, if available. Android manufacturers and versions use different menus, so there is no single supported path to give for every phone.

If YouTube itself errors while sharing
A separate May 2025 YouTube Community reply by a Product Expert suggests updating YouTube and WhatsApp, restarting the phone, comparing sharing from a browser, and checking VPN or system updates for an “Request contains an invalid argument” sharing error. That report concerns an error during sharing, not necessarily a recipient’s inability to open a playlist link.
The same community guidance suggests clearing YouTube cache or data, but treat that as a later step: clearing app data can remove downloads and sign you out. This is community advice, not confirmed official troubleshooting. YouTube Community discussion.

Do not confuse a missing preview with a broken link
A WhatsApp preview that does not appear is different from a link that cannot be opened. A historical Stack Exchange question discussed YouTube link previews in WhatsApp in 2020; it does not establish the cause of a current Android playlist-opening problem.
