Windows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallOutdated Drivers Are Slowing You Down
One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchIf YouTube Live warns about your video’s frame rate, check the exact health message and timestamps first. If the source has variable frame timestamps and the event needs a steady cadence, convert it to constant frame rate (CFR) with FFmpeg, then verify the result and match your live encoder to the YouTube event settings. A VFR label by itself does not prove it caused the warning, and there is no single command that fixes every stream problem.
First identify what YouTube is warning about
Copy the full warning text and the time it appeared from YouTube Live Control Room. A frame-rate warning calls for a different response than a bitrate, keyframe, timestamp, resolution, or disconnect warning. Do not diagnose the issue from a health color alone.
Inspect the source file with a media-information tool. Note its dimensions, reported frame rate, average frame rate or time-base behavior if available, and audio and video codecs. Phone and screen recordings are common sources of variable timestamps, but how a clip was recorded does not establish that VFR caused the warning.
Choose the target frame rate before converting
Set a deliberate target that fits the YouTube event and the footage; do not assume every source should become 30 fps. If you use a custom stream key with manual resolution settings, make the encoder output match those configured values.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- 30 fps: A reasonable target for many lower-motion streams, if it matches the event and source needs.
- 60 fps: May suit fast movement, including gameplay, but requires more encoder capacity and usually a higher bitrate than 30 fps at the same resolution.
Converting cadence can mean dropping or duplicating frames. That creates a regular output cadence, but a large difference between the source and target rates can affect motion smoothness. Match resolution and frame rate to the content, encoder capacity, upload connection, and YouTube event configuration.
Convert a prerecorded file to CFR with FFmpeg
Option 1: Use the fps filter
FFmpeg’s official filter documentation demonstrates frame-rate conversion with an fps filter. This offline example targets 30 fps; change the target to the cadence you chose for the event:

ffmpeg -i input.mp4 -vf "fps=30" -c:v libx264 -preset medium -crf 18 -c:a aac -b:a 128k output-cfr.mp4
The filter changes cadence and requires video encoding. Do not combine it with -c:v copy, which copies the original video rather than applying the filter. This is an illustrative file-encoding command, not a tested universal preset. The crf value is a quality-based choice for file encoding; it is not the bitrate configuration for a live YouTube feed. Check which encoders your installed FFmpeg build supports.
Option 2: Request CFR output mode
FFmpeg documents -fps_mode cfr as dropping or duplicating frames to achieve the requested constant output frame rate. For a clear 30 fps target, an alternative example is:

ffmpeg -i input.mp4 -c:v libx264 -r 30 -fps_mode cfr -c:a aac output-cfr.mp4
Use one clear conversion approach and inspect its output. The exact behavior can depend on FFmpeg version, muxer, input timestamps, and target rate. FFmpeg’s auto mode chooses between CFR and VFR based on muxer capabilities; request CFR explicitly when constant cadence is the goal. Avoid combining timing flags casually. See the FFmpeg filter documentation and FFmpeg command documentation.
Offline conversion versus live conversion
Offline conversion creates a file you can inspect and test before going live. A live transcode avoids preparing a separate file, but adds real-time processing and pipeline complexity: the command must handle input timing, audio mapping, codec, rate control, keyframe/GOP interval, RTMP or RTMPS destination, and stream-key requirements. Do not publish or share a real stream key; treat it as a credential.

Match the live encoder to YouTube’s ingest guidance
YouTube’s current RTMP/RTMPS encoder guidance lists H.264, H.265/HEVC, or AV1 video; frame rates up to 60 fps; AAC or MP3 audio; and constant bitrate (CBR) encoding. It recommends a 2-second keyframe interval and says the interval must not exceed 4 seconds. Bitrate recommendations vary by codec, resolution, and frame rate, so use the current table for your chosen output rather than treating any single bitrate as universal. The guidance was checked on October 3, 2026; consult the current YouTube live encoder settings when configuring a stream.
| Output | H.264 recommended bitrate | H.264 minimum bitrate | AV1/H.265 recommended bitrate | AV1/H.265 minimum bitrate |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 720p at 30 fps | 8 Mbps | 3 Mbps | 6 Mbps | 2 Mbps |
| 1080p at 30 fps | 14 Mbps | 5 Mbps | 10 Mbps | 4 Mbps |
| 1080p at 60 fps | 17 Mbps | 6 Mbps | 12 Mbps | 4 Mbps |
These are YouTube’s listed encoding settings, not independently measured guarantees about your network. Choose a rate your actual upload connection can sustain, and check YouTube’s current table for other resolutions, rates, or codecs.

Verify the file and test the live feed
- Check the converted file: Confirm its cadence, dimensions, audio, and playback. Listen and watch for audio drift, stutter, or other sync problems.
- Check every playlist item: If you will play multiple files, inspect each one and review transitions for consistent cadence and other media properties.
- Configure the live encoder: Match YouTube’s codec, CBR, bitrate, and keyframe guidance, as well as the event’s resolution and frame rate.
- Run a representative test before the event: Use movement and audio like those in the planned stream. YouTube recommends testing before going live and monitoring stream health and messages during the event.
- Read the new timestamped message: Confirm whether the warning has changed or cleared. Check viewer playback separately if that is also a problem; a clean ingest indicator and an individual viewer’s playback experience measure different parts of the chain.
Troubleshoot by the exact symptom
| What you see | What to check | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| A frame-rate warning remains | Confirm the converted file’s cadence and that the live encoder and event use the same target. | Test the actual live output again and read the full, timestamped health message. Do not assume a VFR label alone explains it. |
| A bitrate warning | Check the live encoder’s rate control and the YouTube recommendation for the selected codec, resolution, and frame rate. | Use CBR and choose a sustainable rate for the upload connection. |
| A keyframe warning | Check the encoder’s keyframe/GOP interval. | Use YouTube’s 2-second recommendation and do not exceed 4 seconds. |
| A timestamp or synchronization issue | Inspect source timing and audio/video synchronization, then check the converted file’s playback. | Use one deliberate CFR method, inspect the output, and test the live feed. Timing behavior can depend on the FFmpeg version, muxer, and input. |
| A disconnect or unstable ingest | Look for the exact disconnect message and assess the live pipeline and upload connection. | Do not treat this as a frame-rate problem unless the message supports that diagnosis; test with a sustainable bitrate and monitor the new feed. |
| Ingest looks healthy but viewers report poor playback | Check viewer playback separately from the ingest indicator. | Test playback on the relevant device and connection; a healthy ingest does not establish that every viewer’s playback is healthy. |
Run a YouTube loop without keeping a computer on
For the separate job of keeping prerecorded videos live on YouTube, StreamNeo runs uploaded videos or playlists from the cloud. The CFR repair above is an FFmpeg media-preparation task; StreamNeo is an option for operating the ongoing YouTube loop.
Or let it run in the cloud
