A 60 fps loop is within YouTube’s published limit of up to 60 fps for RTMP/RTMPS live streams. If Live Control Room warns that the frame rate is too high, check the encoder’s actual output and the selected stream configuration, then follow the specific limit shown in the warning. Also verify the keyframe interval: YouTube recommends one every 2 seconds, which at 60 fps means 120 frames.
First, identify which setting YouTube is warning about
Open the stream’s health messages in YouTube Live Control Room and read the exact wording. YouTube reports excessive frame rate and incorrect keyframe frequency as separate problems; a general stream-health warning alone does not tell you which setting to change. Use YouTube’s live streaming error messages to interpret the message.
- If the message says the frame rate is too high, compare the encoder’s actual output with the limit shown in that message and your selected stream configuration.
- If it identifies keyframe frequency, adjust the interval rather than assuming the loop’s frame rate is the cause.
YouTube’s general RTMP/RTMPS guidance lists video at up to 60 fps. That does not override a lower limit displayed for your selected configuration. The file or project may be 60 fps while the encoder outputs something different, so inspect the outgoing stream setting rather than relying on the video’s nominal frame rate.
Set frame rate and keyframes for a 60 fps stream
Frame rate
Use 60 fps only if the encoder’s output and the stream configuration support it. If Live Control Room gives a lower maximum, set the encoder to that limit and check whether the warning clears. YouTube recommends automatic resolution and frame-rate detection by default for custom stream keys; see its stream settings guidance for managing live settings.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Keyframe interval
Frame rate and keyframe frequency are different settings, although YouTube says they are linked. Its general recommendation is a keyframe every 2 seconds, with an interval no longer than 4 seconds. At 60 fps, a 2-second interval is 120 frames; at 30 fps it is 60 frames. The 60-frame example on YouTube’s error page refers to 30 fps, not 60 fps. YouTube warns that less frequent keyframes may cause buffering and says a closed GOP is required for optimal transcoding.
Choose bitrate for the incoming resolution and codec
Bitrate is based on the incoming resolution, frame rate, and codec—not on the fact that the content loops. YouTube’s live-encoder recommendations include these targets for 60 fps video:

| Incoming video | H.264 recommended bitrate | AV1 or H.265 recommended bitrate |
|---|---|---|
| 1080p60 | 17 Mbps | 12 Mbps |
| 720p60 | 8 Mbps | 6 Mbps |
These are YouTube’s recommended live-stream settings, not a guarantee that your upload connection can sustain the rate. Choose a bitrate your connection can deliver reliably and run a speed test. The full recommendations, including other resolutions and minimums, are on YouTube’s live encoder settings and bitrate page.
Check the remaining encoder settings
YouTube’s RTMP/RTMPS guidance supports H.264, H.265 (HEVC), and AV1 video, recommends constant bitrate (CBR), and recommends RTMPS as the secure extension to RTMP. Its advanced recommendations include progressive scan, two B-frames, one reference frame, and CABAC. Use options appropriate to your encoder and codec; do not change unrelated settings when the warning points to a specific issue.

Troubleshoot in this order
- Read the literal health message. Distinguish an excessive-frame-rate error from a keyframe-frequency error or another video warning.
- Inspect actual encoder output. Check the outgoing frame rate, resolution, and codec, then compare them with the selected stream configuration and any lower limit named in the warning.
- Set keyframes to two seconds. That is 120 frames at 60 fps or 60 frames at 30 fps. Keep the interval at four seconds or less, and select a closed GOP if the encoder exposes that option.
- Match bitrate to resolution and codec. Use the corresponding YouTube recommendation as a target, while accounting for connection reliability.
- Test before the broadcast. Use audio and movement similar to the planned stream, then monitor stream health and read new messages during the event.
YouTube advises streamers to test before going live and monitor health messages during the event. A static loop can be useful for testing settings, but test with representative movement and audio too.
