If IBM shows the broadcast but YouTube does not, check the separately configured YouTube destination or integration rather than assuming the IBM-to-channel connection also publishes to YouTube.
Start by identifying what should appear on YouTube
“Feed” can mean a live broadcast, an IBM playlist, an IBM channel listing or player, or a route that sends video from IBM to YouTube. These are different workflows. IBM’s documented encoder setup covers ingest into an IBM channel; it does not, by itself, confirm outbound delivery to YouTube. Your account’s enabled features and the actual integration route are not established here.
- Encoder to IBM: An encoder sends video to an IBM channel using that channel’s server URL and stream key.
- Playlist or channel listing: The issue may be IBM publication or scheduling visibility, not a YouTube broadcast.
- IBM to YouTube: If this is the intended route, identify the separate YouTube destination or integration owner and verify its setup independently.
IBM’s Broadcast Settings guidance describes encoder-to-IBM ingest. It is not evidence that every IBM channel is automatically syndicated to YouTube.
Check the relevant stage of the workflow
1. Confirm the source and destination
Establish whether an encoder is sending the video to IBM, YouTube, or both. If it is intended to send to both, confirm that YouTube is configured as a separate destination or through an authorized integration. Note whether YouTube never shows the stream, or whether it appears and then drops; those symptoms point to different stages.

2. Verify IBM ingest, if the encoder is meant to send to IBM
- Open the intended IBM channel’s Broadcast Settings and locate its current encoder URL and stream key.
- Compare those values with the server URL and key configured in the encoder. Make sure the credentials belong to the intended channel and are current.
- Start the encoder and check whether IBM reports an active broadcast. If IBM does not receive it, investigate the encoder-to-IBM connection before treating YouTube as the cause.
IBM supports RTMP and RTMPS ingest settings. Keep the stream key private: anyone with the necessary URL and key may be able to broadcast to that channel. Do not include the key in a public post or unsecured support message.
3. Check playlist scheduling and IBM visibility
If “feed” means an IBM playlist or channel-page listing, check whether it is published and visible on the relevant IBM channel page or embed. A scheduled playlist is not ordinarily visible to viewers before its broadcast. If you want it listed as a regular playlist, check whether it needs to be unscheduled and published. IBM also states that only manual playlists can go live; scheduling may display “Please initiate a test broadcast” if the channel has not had a genuine encoder-based live broadcast. These checks concern IBM visibility and scheduling, not proof of a YouTube delivery problem. See IBM’s playlist overview.

4. Use monitoring and check for an incident
Open IBM’s Live Monitoring and Troubleshooting tool in the dashboard to examine broadcast performance, channel configuration and platform health. Then check the IBM Video Streaming Status page for a reported service interruption. Monitoring can help establish whether IBM is receiving the broadcast; it cannot, on its own, verify an independently configured YouTube destination.
Use the evidence to narrow down the cause

Also note the scope: one channel or video failing suggests checking that channel’s settings and route; multiple channels failing at once makes a broader service or shared integration issue worth checking. This is a diagnostic distinction, not a conclusion about your account.

When to contact IBM support
If IBM’s ingest or playlist behavior remains unclear, open a support case or live chat using IBM’s support contact guidance. Include details that let support identify the affected broadcast and its timing:
- IBM channel or video identifiers;
- the approximate time of the issue, with time zone;
- screenshots and the exact error message, if any;
- encoder name and version, and whether IBM itself displays the live stream.
Do not send a stream key in an unsecured message. If IBM shows the stream correctly but YouTube does not, contact the owner of the separate YouTube destination or integration as well.
