If your YouTube stream key stopped working after an Indian channel was transferred to a Brand Account, first confirm that you have selected the right channel in YouTube Studio, then copy that channel’s current key from Live Control Room and replace the saved key in your encoder. Also verify the server URL and protocol. YouTube’s guidance does not say that a transfer automatically invalidates a stream key, and it does not describe a separate India-specific fix.
Fix the key and encoder settings first
A stream key is a credential your encoder uses to send a feed to YouTube. YouTube compares the key and connection details with the stream settings for the channel receiving the feed. A key saved before a transfer may be stale or associated with a different channel, so check the current settings rather than assuming the transfer itself caused the failure.
- Select the intended channel. In YouTube Studio, confirm that you are working on the transferred channel, not another channel managed by the same Google Account. The key is managed from that channel’s Live Control Room.
- Open the stream settings. Go to YouTube Studio → Create → Go Live → Stream. Find the stream key for the intended stream. YouTube’s stream-key guidance explains how to manage, reuse, and reset keys.
- Copy the current key into your encoder. Replace the value in the encoder’s Stream Key field; do not rely on a key that was saved before the transfer or loaded from a previous stream. YouTube recommends retrieving the key from Live Control Room and updating the encoder when it reports an error (troubleshoot a live stream).
- Confirm the server URL and protocol. Use the Live server URL shown in Live Control Room. If the encoder is set to RTMPS, use the RTMPS URL and ensure the encoder supports RTMPS. Do not pair an RTMPS setting with an ordinary RTMP URL.
- Save the settings and retry. Start the encoder again and check whether YouTube receives the stream. If it still fails, use the symptom-specific checks below before resetting the key again.
If the key may have been reset, the old value will not be fixed by retrying it: an owner or manager must provide the current key and the encoder must be updated. YouTube describes keys as “like your YouTube stream’s password and address” (Manage live stream settings).
Check Brand Account ownership and channel permissions
A transfer and a stream-key failure are not the same issue. YouTube’s documented Brand Account-to-Brand Account transfer flow requires the Google Account performing the transfer to be the primary account owner. If the channel was using channel permissions, YouTube says it must be opted out of those permissions to complete the transfer; the flow may require removing channel-permission users first. After the move, access still depends on the user’s role. YouTube says viewers cannot access the stream key, change stream settings, or go live. Owners and managers can manage live streams, and only owners or managers can reset a key. If you cannot see the key or its controls, ask an authorized owner or manager to check the channel and key. YouTube’s pages on channel permissions and channel access explain delegated roles.
The official guidance documents transfer prerequisites and role limits, but does not establish that transferring a channel automatically invalidates its key. Check channel identity, access, and encoder configuration before treating the transfer as the cause.

RTMPS, eligibility, and stream limits
RTMPS connection errors
If the encoder reports an SSL error, open Live Control Room and copy the RTMPS URL specifically. YouTube says the encoder must support RTMPS; for a documented SSL error, try port 443. A connection timeout can occur when the encoder does not support RTMPS. Follow YouTube’s RTMPS instructions and use the protocol and server URL that match.
Channel eligibility
If the key and connection details are correct but YouTube still will not accept the stream, check that the channel is verified and has had no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. YouTube’s live-streaming requirements also state limits of 10 active streams per channel and 3 active streams per stream key. Those limits are useful checks, not proof that a limit caused a particular error.

Reused stream settings
When you reuse a prior stream, YouTube may load its previous settings, including the key. Confirm that the loaded key belongs to the intended channel and matches the current value in Live Control Room. YouTube’s encoder setup instructions cover creating a stream and reusing settings.
Troubleshoot by the error you see

Is there a different fix for Indian channels?
YouTube’s published guidance for transfers, permissions, keys, encoder setup, and eligibility does not identify a separate procedure or key format for Indian channels. Use the same channel-selection, role, current-key, and protocol checks. The fact that the channel is Indian does not, in these instructions, imply a different stream-key fix.
