Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →A YouTube bitrate health warning means the incoming stream may not match the settings selected in Live Control Room, or the connection may not have enough upload capacity to carry it reliably. Start with the warning’s exact wording and timestamp: a message about audio bitrate needs a different fix from one about video bitrate. Then match the encoder to the selected resolution, frame rate, and codec, and lower resolution if the available upload bandwidth cannot support the chosen profile.
There is no single bitrate that can be prescribed for this playlist without knowing its actual stream profile and warning text. The checks below use YouTube’s current guidance, accessed October 3, 2026; YouTube does not specify a special bitrate for Hindi news streams.
Read the complete warning before changing settings
In YouTube Live Control Room, check the Health Indicator and read the full error message, including its timestamp. YouTube displays detected errors there. Red errors are critical and can prevent an event from starting or cause viewer problems; yellow errors are moderate and may degrade quality. A persistent error continues to appear until it is resolved. YouTube’s live streaming error guide explains the messages and their severity.
Do not assume every bitrate-related message is about video. YouTube’s error guide also includes warnings about audio bitrate and sample rate. Identify whether the message names audio, video, or another setting before making a change.

Match the encoder to the selected YouTube profile
- In Live Control Room, check the ingestion settings for the resolution and frame rate selected for the stream.
- Identify the video codec configured in the encoder.
- Use YouTube’s current encoder guidance to match the bitrate to that codec, resolution, and frame rate. The examples below are for H.264; other codecs have different guidance.
- If YouTube reports an incorrect bitrate, verify the encoder’s value against the selected ingestion profile. YouTube says that, unless using a variable resolution entrypoint, the encoder must use the exact bitrate for the resolution selected in Ingestion Settings.
For example, YouTube’s H.264 table lists 5 Mbps minimum and 14 Mbps recommended for 1080p at 30 fps, and 3 Mbps minimum and 8 Mbps recommended for 720p at 30 fps. These are examples, not a prescribed setting for this channel: its resolution, frame rate, and codec are not specified. See YouTube’s current encoder settings table for the profile you actually use.
Check upload capacity and headroom
The connection’s upload capacity must carry the stream’s total bitrate. YouTube recommends leaving 20% headroom, and warns that other activity on a shared network can reduce the capacity available to the encoder. Check upload speed rather than relying on download speed, and consider what else is using the connection while the playlist runs. YouTube’s streaming tips explain its bandwidth recommendation.

If upload capacity is insufficient for the selected profile, YouTube’s stated remedy for an incorrect-bitrate error is to consider lowering the resolution. Lowering resolution reduces image detail but can make a stable bitrate easier to sustain. Recheck that the encoder matches the new profile selected in Live Control Room.
| H.264 profile | Minimum ingestion bitrate | Recommended ingestion bitrate |
|---|---|---|
| 1080p at 30 fps | 5 Mbps | 14 Mbps |
| 1080p at 60 fps | 6 Mbps | 17 Mbps |
| 720p at 30 fps | 3 Mbps | 8 Mbps |
| 720p at 60 fps | 3 Mbps | 8 Mbps |
These are YouTube ingestion bitrate figures for the listed H.264 profiles, not guaranteed internet speed requirements. The connection needs additional capacity; YouTube recommends 20% headroom. Its full table varies by codec and profile, so consult it rather than applying these examples to another resolution, frame rate, or codec.

Verify the rest of the encoder configuration
A bitrate warning can coexist with other stream-configuration problems. YouTube’s encoder guidance and error guide identify settings worth checking:
- Protocol and video: YouTube lists RTMP/RTMPS and H.264, H.265, or AV1 video among its encoder options.
- Audio: YouTube lists AAC or MP3 audio; inspect the audio bitrate and sample rate if the warning mentions them.
- Rate control and keyframes: YouTube lists CBR encoding and a two-second keyframe interval, not exceeding four seconds.
- Profile consistency: Check that the encoder’s resolution and frame rate agree with the ingestion settings selected in Live Control Room.
Use YouTube’s encoder settings guidance for the complete current details. A video bitrate change will not fix a warning about audio, format, resolution, or keyframe frequency.

Test a 24/7 stream and its backup path
For continuous operation, verify the backup encoder as well as the primary. YouTube advises testing backup encoder failover; its error guidance says the primary and backup should match in resolution, codec, bitrate, frame rate, keyframe interval, and audio configuration for failover to work properly. A backup that sends a different profile may not take over cleanly.
Before changing a production stream, test with representative audio and video and monitor stream health and messages. YouTube recommends an unlisted test stream to check audio, video, and equipment, and Ethernet for computer-based live streaming. See YouTube’s encoder guidance and streaming tips.
Troubleshoot by symptom
| What you see | What to check | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| “Incorrect bitrates” or a similar video warning | The selected ingestion resolution, frame rate, codec, and encoder bitrate. | Match the encoder to the selected profile. If the connection lacks capacity, consider lowering the resolution and select the corresponding profile in Live Control Room. |
| The warning names audio bitrate or sample rate | The complete audio settings and the exact text of the warning. | Correct the audio setting identified by YouTube instead of changing video bitrate. |
| Settings appear correct, but stream health degrades | Available upload bandwidth, other network use, and whether the test was run on the same connection. | Measure upload capacity under realistic conditions, leave YouTube’s recommended 20% headroom, and reduce resolution if capacity cannot support the profile. For a computer-based setup, YouTube recommends Ethernet. |
| The stream fails over poorly | Whether primary and backup encoders match across video and audio settings. | Align resolution, codec, bitrate, frame rate, keyframe interval, and audio configuration, then test failover. |
| The warning remains after a change | The warning’s timestamp and whether the encoder change matches the profile still selected in Live Control Room. | Read the current full message again and fix the specific persistent error; check for another warning rather than assuming the original cause. |
Or let it run in the cloud
