Purchases are public, availability depends on the stream and location, and voluntary payments are generally non-refundable.
What Super Chat and Super Stickers do
Super Chat and Super Stickers are YouTube fan-funding features for eligible live streams and Premieres. A Super Chat attaches a paid message to the live chat. A Super Sticker displays a purchased animated image instead. Depending on the purchase value, YouTube may pin a Super at the top of chat and show a countdown; the stream or chat can end before the countdown does. A purchase does not transfer to another video.
They are designed for paid interaction in chat, not as a general payment channel. YouTube Help says, “Super Chat and Super Stickers aren’t crowdfunding or donation tools.” Users remain responsible for applicable laws.
How to send a Super Chat or Super Sticker
- Open an eligible YouTube live stream or Premiere and make sure its live chat is visible.
- Select the dollar-sign control in chat. If it is not shown, the feature may be unavailable for that video, account, location or device.
- For a Super Chat, choose or enter an amount and optionally add a message. For a Super Sticker, select a pack and then the sticker you want.
- Select Buy and send, then complete the purchase flow shown by YouTube.
New purchases made in the Android app may be billed through Google Play. YouTube says this billing change does not affect pricing or cost. Purchase options and amounts depend on the local purchase flow.

What viewers and creators can see
A Super purchase is public: the buyer’s channel name, profile picture, purchase amount and message or sticker can be visible in chat. The information may also be available to the channel through YouTube’s Data API. YouTube previews a purchase milestone before it is announced; the buyer can turn off celebration announcements in mobile app settings. Pinning depends on purchase value, so not every Super appears in the ticker.
YouTube’s Android purchase help says purchases under $5 USD (or local equivalent) do not appear in the ticker. Limits and billing details can change or vary by location; check the current YouTube Help page on buying Super Chats and Super Stickers before purchasing.
How creators enable Supers
Eligibility comes first
YouTube’s minimum fan-funding requirements include being in the YouTube Partner Program (YPP), being at least 18, living in a location where the feature is available, and meeting feature-specific requirements. The creator and any multi-channel network must accept and comply with the applicable terms, including the Commerce Product Module (CPM) or, for creators who already signed it, the legacy Commerce Product Addendum (CPA). Eligibility for YPP access does not guarantee that Supers will be available for every channel or video.

YouTube’s current monetization overview, accessed October 3, 2026, lists these YPP access thresholds for fan-funding features:
- Fan-funding level: 500 subscribers, 3 public uploads in the last 90 days, and either 3,000 qualifying public watch hours in the last 365 days or 3 million qualifying Shorts views in the last 90 days.
- Higher advertising tier: 1,000 subscribers and either 4,000 qualifying public watch hours in the last 365 days or 10 million qualifying Shorts views in the last 90 days. This tier includes Watch Page ads and Shorts Feed ads.
These are YPP access thresholds, not a promise of feature availability. YouTube also says views or watch time from paid ad campaigns do not count toward the cited thresholds. See YouTube’s monetization overview for current terms and eligibility.
Turn on Super Chat or Super Stickers
- Sign in to YouTube Studio.
- Open Earn, then select Supers.
- Accept the CPM if YouTube prompts you to do so.
- Switch on Super Chat and/or Super Stickers.
The Supers tab appears only for eligible channels. YouTube’s creator setup and eligibility guidance covers the current requirements.

Videos where Supers cannot be used
Even if a channel is eligible and Supers are enabled, neither feature is available on age-restricted, unlisted or private videos; videos marked made for kids; or videos with YouTube Giving fundraisers. Supers are also unavailable when live chat or comments are turned off. They can be used with Premieres as well as live streams.
How much creators receive
YouTube Help says creators receive the “majority” of Super Chat and Super Stickers revenue. The official pages reviewed do not state one universal creator percentage or a complete accounting of variations, so a precise share should not be assumed. Transaction method and location can matter; consult YouTube’s current terms rather than treating an unsourced percentage as a fixed rule.
Limits, moderation and refunds
YouTube’s Android purchase help lists a combined spending limit for Jewels, Super Chats, Super Stickers and Super Thanks of $2,000 USD per day and $8,000 USD per week (or local equivalent), plus a maximum balance of 120,000 Jewels. These limits and billing details are volatile and localized; check YouTube’s purchase help for the rules that apply to your account.

Super Chat messages and sticker graphics must follow YouTube’s Community Guidelines and may be moderated by the creator or YouTube. YouTube says a moderated or removed Super does not generate a refund. A viewer can remove a sent Super from chat, but removing it does not recover the payment.
YouTube describes Super purchases as voluntary and non-refundable. If you believe a charge was unauthorized, use YouTube’s official unauthorized-charge reporting process and contact the applicable billing provider as directed. An unauthorized-charge report is different from requesting a refund because you changed your mind.
Supers can be viewed on computers and supported mobile apps, but not on mobile browsers, according to YouTube’s purchase-details help.

Can you use Supers on a 24/7 prerecorded stream?
A creator may use Supers on a live stream only when the channel and the specific video meet YouTube’s eligibility and availability rules, including having live chat enabled. A continuously looping prerecorded stream does not remove those requirements. YouTube’s rules about Supers also do not grant rights to copyrighted music, video or other material: use content you own or are authorized to stream, and review YouTube’s applicable copyright rules before broadcasting.
