YouTube’s announced YPP changes take effect on February 1, 2027. If you earn through YouTube Partner Program features, check YouTube Studio for the applicable updated monetization modules and accept the ones you need by January 31, 2027. YouTube says missing the deadline stops earnings from the associated features, but does not by itself remove your channel from YPP; accepting later restores access to those features.
These are changes to monetization agreements and program rules—not a newly announced replacement for YouTube’s general Terms of Service. The distinction matters: creators may need to accept a feature-specific module even if they have already accepted the general Terms.
What creators need to do by January 31, 2027
YouTube says creators should sign in to YouTube Studio, find the terms notification on the dashboard or in the Earn tab, review the applicable module or modules, and submit acceptance. For most previously accepted online agreements, the standing lookup is YouTube Studio → Settings → Agreements. The modules shown can vary by account and monetization features, so check the agreements displayed for your channel rather than assuming every creator has the same list. (YouTube Help, 2026 announcement.)
- Watch Page Monetization Module: Review it if you earn through monetized watch-page videos.
- Shorts Monetization Module: Review it if you earn through Shorts monetization.
- Commerce Product Module: Review it if it applies to your commerce or fan-funding features, including certain creators still using older terms.
You may accept some or all of the modules offered to you. If you do not accept a module by the deadline, YouTube says earnings from the features associated with that module stop on February 1, 2027. You can accept later to restore access to those feature earnings. YouTube says this missed deadline does not itself change your YPP channel status.

Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
If an MCN manages your channel
YouTube says the managing MCN must accept the updated terms by the deadline for an owned-and-operated channel. An affiliate channel must accept its own applicable modules. If you are unsure which arrangement applies, check with your MCN and review the agreements visible in Studio.
What is changing on February 1, 2027
YouTube’s 2026 announcement describes future changes to Premium Lite, Shorts earnings, YPP entry and channel activity. These are announced rules, not rules already in effect as of October 3, 2026. The thresholds below measure different things and should not be collapsed into one general “monetization requirement.”

| Rule or feature | Who it concerns | Announced change |
|---|---|---|
| YPP entry for new creators | New applicants | From February 1, 2027: 1,000 subscribers and either 8,000 qualified watch hours in the previous 365 days or 20 million qualified Shorts views in the previous 90 days. Existing YPP status is not affected by this entry change. (YouTube Help, 2026 announcement.) |
| Shorts Creator Pool monthly earnings | Creators seeking monthly earnings from the Shorts Creator Pool | Maintain 10 million qualified Shorts views over the prior 90 days to earn from the pool each month. Missing this threshold does not remove a creator from YPP or affect other YPP earnings, such as long-form video earnings. (YouTube Help, 2026 announcement.) |
| Earlier earning features | Creators seeking fan funding, YouTube Creator Partnerships or YouTube Shopping | YouTube says the eligibility thresholds do not change in this update: 500 subscribers and either 3,000 qualified watch hours in a year or 3 million qualified Shorts views in 90 days. (YouTube Help, 2026 announcement.) |
| YPP channel activity | Existing YPP channels | From February 1, 2027, YouTube will count a channel as active if it meets any one of these: 1,000 qualified watch hours in 365 days; 1 million qualified Shorts views in 90 days; or two long-form videos or five Shorts uploaded every 90 days. If a channel falls below the activity standard, YouTube says it has an additional 90-day window to meet either the watch-hour or Shorts-view activity measure. (YouTube Help, 2026 announcement.) |
Do not confuse the two Shorts thresholds
The 20 million qualified Shorts views figure is one route for a new creator to meet the announced YPP entry threshold, alongside the subscriber requirement. The 10 million figure is the announced recurring 90-day threshold for monthly Shorts Creator Pool earnings. Meeting one does not mean the other has been met, and the pool threshold is not a replacement for YPP entry rules.
Premium Lite and additional Shorts opportunities
Premium Lite revenue pools
YouTube says it plans to expand Premium Lite to all countries where Premium is available. Under the announced model, creators will share in a pool representing 60% of net subscription revenue for Premium Lite and 30% for Premium views. YouTube says Premium Lite earnings will appear within standard YouTube Premium metrics in Analytics. These are percentages for YouTube’s announced pools, not a guaranteed percentage of an individual subscriber’s payment for any particular creator.

Other Shorts programs
The announcement describes possible Shorts incentives for YouTube Shopping bonuses, production credits for brand deals and cultural-trend activations. It also says eligible creators may earn a direct 45% share from ad placements when an advertiser targets a group of five or fewer channels, in addition to standard Shorts Creator Pool earnings. These program descriptions do not guarantee that a particular creator will qualify or receive an offer. YouTube has not established an average individual creator’s earnings from these future changes.
Creators still using older fan-funding terms
If you enabled features such as memberships or Super Chat before 2023, you may still be covered by the Commerce Product Addendum. YouTube says affected creators need to accept the current Commerce Product Module by January 31, 2027 to keep earning from the associated features after February 1. YouTube says this migration does not change eligibility thresholds, how the features operate or their revenue share. Check the module and notice shown for your account rather than assuming the older addendum applies to every creator.

General Terms of Service are different from YPP modules
YouTube’s earlier general Terms of Service update addressed facial-recognition restrictions, YouTube’s right to serve ads in additional areas—including videos, the homepage masthead and search results—and treatment of YouTube payments as royalties for U.S. tax purposes, with withholding as required by law. YouTube’s FAQ said those terms took effect in the United States starting in November 2020 and outside the United States starting June 1, 2021. That historical update is separate from the announced 2027 YPP module changes; its tax statement is not personalized tax advice.
YouTube described its approach this way: “At YouTube, we periodically update our Terms of Service to make sure they are clear, easy to understand and meet the needs of our partners, advertisers and viewers.” (YouTube Help, Updated Terms of Service FAQs.)

Other rules that continue to apply
Accepting a monetization module does not replace the other rules governing content or features. YouTube says use of its service is subject to the Terms of Service, Community Guidelines and Platform Policies. Feature rules may also apply to monetization, live streaming or Shopping. Paid promotions are subject to advertiser policies; monetization also involves AdSense Program Policies, YouTube monetization policies and advertiser-friendly content guidelines.
“Inauthentic content” is a monetization-policy clarification
On July 10, 2025, TeamYouTube said the “repetitious content” monetization policy was being renamed “inauthentic content” to clarify that mass-produced or repetitive material was covered. TeamYouTube described this as a clarification of the existing requirement for original and authentic YPP content, regardless of how the content was made. It is a monetization-policy clarification, not a change to the general Terms of Service.
AI disclosure guidance is also a separate policy matter
In a May 27, 2026 post, TeamYouTube described an updated creator-led disclosure model for content made with or meaningfully altered using AI, and said creators who consistently fail to disclose may face penalties. An August 3, 2026 update described how to find automatically labeled videos in Studio and correct some labels; some automatic labels cannot be removed. Treat this as disclosure-policy and Studio-tooling guidance, not as a verified general Terms revision.
If you received a separate-contract transition notice
A notice that YouTube is moving your separate contract to the general Terms applies only to the affected partner accounts; it is not a notice all creators should expect. YouTube’s transition FAQ says the change can follow low activity over the preceding year or infrequent use of Content Manager tools. For affected accounts, YouTube says the transition happens automatically. Existing channels and videos remain on YouTube, but Content Manager access and some Analytics or Content Manager reports may be lost.

- Download any reports you want to retain before the transition.
- Check the notice for the transition details that apply to your account.
- After transition, eligible partners can apply to YPP if it is available in their country.
Keeping a prerecorded YouTube stream running is a separate task
Terms acceptance does not make a stream compliant with copyright, reused-content or other YouTube policies. If you separately run a prerecorded 24/7 YouTube stream, StreamNeo is a cloud option: StreamNeo plays uploaded videos or playlists and keeps the stream running without a home computer staying on. It does not stream from a camera or to platforms other than YouTube.
- One flat price per slot for any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps, without re-encoding or quality tiers.
- Each slot includes one always-on stream, 10 GB storage per slot pooled across active slots, looping and playlists, automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream, and StreamNeo team support.
- The first day is free with no card, one free day per account. Billing options are a day, a week, a month, six months or a year; cancel any time. UPI and cards are available in India, and card checkout is available worldwide. For five or more slots, contact support.
Monthly: $9.99 per month. If this separate cloud-streaming setup suits your channel, start with StreamNeo’s free first day.
