Riot Suppressor Mark VI is the signature W-Engine, but it is not required; four-piece Chaotic Metal is the general Drive Disc recommendation, with several viable slot 5 stats and accessible weapon alternatives.
How Zhu Yuan’s kit shapes her build
Zhu Yuan is an S-Rank Ether Attack agent in the N.E.P.S. faction. Her damage loop revolves around Enhanced Shotshells: she uses them in Suppressive Mode for enhanced attacks, and those attacks are especially valuable against Stunned enemies. Her kit also generates shells through actions including EX Special Attack, Chain Attack, and Ultimate. In practice, build or obtain shells, then spend them during the best available damage window rather than following a rotation that ignores energy, enemy stun timing, or the teammates you have.
Her Additional Ability grants 30% CRIT Rate for 10 seconds after an EX Special Attack, Chain Attack, or Ultimate when the squad includes a Support agent or another member of her faction. That condition makes a Support or N.E.P.S. teammate valuable not only for their own role, but also for activating this temporary bonus. When evaluating her CRIT Rate, distinguish the character sheet value from the value during that 10-second window.
Choose a W-Engine
Riot Suppressor Mark VI is Zhu Yuan’s signature W-Engine and the cited top fit for an Ether damage dealer who deals substantial damage through Basic Attacks. Treat it as an upgrade, not a build requirement: compare the Attack W-Engines you already own and their refinement levels rather than assuming a particular numerical gap.

| Riot Suppressor Mark VI | Signature option and the most directly tailored choice in Prydwen’s recommendations. Prydwen character guide |
| Cannon Rotor | Accessible alternative listed by Prydwen; a reasonable option when the signature is unavailable. Prydwen character guide |
| Starlight Engine | Another accessible alternative in Prydwen’s recommendations. Compare it with your other available Attack options and refinements. Prydwen character guide |
Gachabase’s in-game gear listing also includes Cannon Rotor and several Lunar engines, but the listing is not a controlled performance comparison. It does not establish a universal ranking among every weapon and refinement.
Drive Discs: start with Chaotic Metal
General setup: four-piece Chaotic Metal
Prydwen recommends four-piece Chaotic Metal as the general set. Its two-piece effect provides Ether damage, while the four-piece effect adds CRIT DMG and can gain further CRIT DMG as Corruption deals damage. This makes Ether application important: another source of Ether application, such as Nicole, helps the set make better use of its stacking effect. Pair the four-piece set with a two-piece bonus that improves useful stats; Woodpecker Electro is one cited option.

Conditional setup: four-piece Puffer Electro
Prydwen lists four-piece Puffer Electro as an alternative for Dialyn teams. Its value depends on sustaining Ultimate use through the burst cycle, which Dialyn helps facilitate. It is not the default choice for teams that lack Dialyn or cannot support that Ultimate frequency.
Main stats and substats
| Drive Disc slot | Recommended main stat |
|---|---|
| Slot 4 | CRIT DMG% or CRIT Rate% |
| Slot 5 | ATK%, Ether DMG%, or PEN Ratio% |
| Slot 6 | ATK% |
For substats, prioritize CRIT Rate, CRIT DMG, and ATK%, then PEN and flat ATK. Slot 5 is flexible: compare the actual substats on the pieces available to you and account for team effects instead of treating Ether DMG% as mandatory. Prydwen also publishes endgame stat targets, but these are guide recommendations, not game requirements; a single CRIT Rate target is misleading if it ignores Zhu Yuan’s conditional 30% bonus and other active team buffs.

Build a team around stun windows and passive activation
The following are Prydwen team recommendations; its team review marker is Patch 2.5. Choose according to stun timing, field-time needs, and roster access rather than treating one lineup as universal.
| Teammate | What the pairing offers | Best fit |
|---|---|---|
| Dialyn | Fast stun cycles and a burst setup that can support multiple Ultimate or Chain actions. | Players building around an Ultimate-heavy burst cycle; also the teammate linked to the conditional Puffer Electro setup. |
| Qingyi | A natural on-field Stun partner who can fill Zhu Yuan’s downtime, stun quickly, shares her faction, and increases damage against Stunned enemies. | A conventional Stun option that also activates Zhu Yuan’s same-faction Additional Ability condition. |
| Anby | Can fill the Stun role when Qingyi is unavailable, with less additional utility according to Prydwen. | A more accessible substitute for players without Qingyi. |
| Trigger or Pulchra | Lower-field-time Stun alternatives that can leave Zhu Yuan more time to attack and provide buffs. | Teams prioritizing Zhu Yuan’s field time. |
When choosing among them, weigh four practical factors: how quickly the team creates a stun window; how much time its Stun agent occupies; whether a Support or N.E.P.S. teammate activates Zhu Yuan’s Additional Ability; and whether a Disc choice depends on the specific teammate or Ultimate frequency. No one team is established here as best for every roster or encounter.

Skill investment priority
Gachabase’s displayed in-game guide priority is Core Skill first, then Basic Attack and Chain Attack, followed by Special Attack and Assist, with Dodge last. Prydwen likewise emphasizes Basic Attack and Chain Attack ahead of other active skills. Treat this as an investment order, not a requirement to maximize every skill immediately; progression and available resources determine how far to level each one.
What is established—and what is not
Prydwen’s Zhu Yuan profile reports a September 30, 2026 update, but its own update tracker says the build recommendation was last updated in Patch 2.4 and the team guidance in Patch 2.5. Gachabase labels its data view version 3.2.12 CREATOR and lists current in-game kit, gear, and skill-priority information. These guide recommendations are not independent damage tests.
