The Zero Hour ship-repair puzzle comes in two different forms, and the older walkthroughs describe only one of them. The 2019 Heroic configuration quest used three colored keycards, SIVA Particulates, and Cryptarch Vault terminals to build toward Repair Schematics and a ship reward. Zero Hour returned in 2024 as a reprised Exotic Mission with new challenges and a different floor puzzle. Bungie’s official pages confirm that Zero Hour is available and that the 2024 reprisal exists. They do not confirm that the 2019 ship-repair chain still works as it did, so treat the old steps as a historical account until you verify them in-game.
Which version of the puzzle are you looking at?
Most of the confusion comes from mixing the two versions. Check which one you’re facing before you follow any step list.

The 2019 configuration quest (historical account)
The steps below reflect how players described the chain in 2019. Use them to understand the old logic and terminology. They are not current instructions.
Preparation route
- Complete Heroic Zero Hour.
- Pick up the configuration bounty, which the 2019 account describes as hidden within that mission.
- Collect the blue, green, and red keycards.
- Collect SIVA Particulates.
- Use the Cryptarch Vault terminals to solve the configuration.
- Complete all three elemental configurations (Void, Arc, and Solar) to finish the Repair Schematics objective.
The Void Configuration bounty and keycards
The 2019 Destiny.Bungie.org resource presents the Void Configuration as a bounty you find in Heroic Zero Hour, requiring the three keycards before the vault puzzle. Sources from that period do not give the exact locations of the keycards in the material reviewed for this article, so if you need precise pickup points, check a guide written for your own version of the mission. The same resource reported that the bounty could disappear from inventory. Treat that as a 2019 bug report, not a standing rule.

SIVA Particulates
In the 2019 account, SIVA Particulates were the progression material tied to the Void Configuration. Their rewards were limited per week at that time. Current official sources do not confirm whether particulates still drop, what they are used for now, or whether the weekly limit still applies, so do not plan around that limit without checking in-game.
Repair Schematics and the ship reward
The 2019 Reddit compilation says Repair Schematics required completing all three elemental configurations and led to the ship reward. Confirm the current objective in your Repair Schematics or quest text before you assume the chain is complete. The reviewed sources do not establish that the ship reward still exists in its 2019 form.

Reprised Zero Hour (2024)
Bungie reprised Zero Hour in 2024 alongside The Whisper. Its official announcement describes the reprisal as offering new challenges and a chance to earn two craftable Exotic weapons, Whisper of the Worm and Outbreak Perfected. The Zero Hour reward in that announcement is Outbreak Perfected.
The floor puzzle depends on your settings
The 2024 PC Gamer guide covers the reprised mission’s floor puzzle and states that its combination varies with difficulty and elemental threat. This is a different puzzle from the 2019 Cryptarch Vault configuration. Do not copy an old configuration answer into the reprised floor puzzle. Before you follow any solution, note the difficulty and elemental threat the guide assumes, and match them to your run.

Getting into Zero Hour
Bungie’s Activities page lists Zero Hour among currently available Exotic Missions. Bungie Help says available Exotic Missions can be found in their Destinations or in the Portal Ops tab in the Director. Bungie Help also notes that some Exotic Missions require unlocking related content or expansion progression, so if Zero Hour does not appear for you, check the Director and your progression before assuming a bug.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Checking what works in your game
- Open the Director and confirm Zero Hour is listed under Exotic Missions.
- Note the difficulty you select, because the reprised floor puzzle can change with it.
- Check your Repair Schematics or quest entry for the current objective text before following any 2019 step.
- If the 2019 Void Configuration bounty does not appear, the reviewed sources do not say it should. Do not assume a glitch, and do not spend time on the bounty without confirming it exists.
- Look for an updated guide dated after the mission’s 2024 return that matches your version of the activity.
Do you need anything beyond the game?
No purchase is needed to attempt the puzzle. The keycards, particulates, and puzzle steps are all in-game mechanics, and the sources reviewed do not connect any physical edition, guide, or peripheral to completing them.
