What was Zombie Doom?
Zombie Doom was a Windows Phone first-person shooter developed and published by Gamer Bear. Its premise casts the player as a human defender fighting an alien invasion in which people are turned into zombies. Microsoft included the game in a Windows Phone zombie-games roundup, describing its enemies as alien zombies (Microsoft News).
The title evokes Doom, but the available records do not identify it as an official id Software or Bethesda franchise game. Its alien-and-zombie premise is its own, rather than a documented part of the Doom universe.
What did the HD version advertise?
Gamer Bear described Zombie Doom HD as an improved version that used the capabilities of newer phones. The developer’s feature list included:

These are the developer’s advertised features, not independently verified performance findings. The page does not establish that online play still works today (Gamer Bear’s Zombie Doom HD page).
Was it a patch or a separate HD release?
The clearest description is an enhanced HD edition, but its precise relationship to the original game is unresolved. Gamer Bear called it Zombie Doom HD and described it as returning in an improved form. MobyGames groups Zombie Doom, Zombie Doom FPS and Zombie Doom HD under one game record, and records a Windows Phone release on September 25, 2014 (MobyGames overview; release record).

That catalog has no patch information, and the surviving material supplies no formal changelog, version number or precise update date. So “HD upgrade” describes the developer’s enhanced edition, not a confirmed numbered patch with a documented list of changes (MobyGames patch record).
Which Windows Phones were compatible?
The surviving records give different requirements that may refer to different editions. MobyGames lists Windows Phone 8 as the minimum for its cataloged release, along with landscape orientation, touch controls and one-player offline play (MobyGames specifications). A 2014 TecMundo roundup listed the original game as compatible with Windows Phone 7.5 and later and requiring 512 MB of RAM (TecMundo’s 2014 roundup).

Those specifications should not be merged into a single guaranteed requirement: the roundup may describe the original edition, while the catalog entry may describe the HD-era Windows Phone release.

The historical release is documented, but the available sources do not establish a working official download today. The old Windows Phone Store is not a normal, supported modern app marketplace, and a discoverable listing or old store link would not by itself prove that the game can still be installed. A 2024 Reddit discussion mentions a Microsoft Apps listing, but that user report is not confirmation of current availability (Reddit discussion).

For someone who already owns a compatible phone, access may depend on whether the game remains installed or can be retrieved through that device and account. Compatibility may also differ between the original and HD editions. Treat unofficial archived packages cautiously: their presence does not establish that redistribution is authorized, that a package is unmodified, or that it will run on a particular device.
