To get started in Zombie Frontier 4, learn how its stage-based first-person combat works, choose weapons for the encounters in front of you, and develop both your weapons and survival gear as you progress. The game’s official descriptions establish the main systems, but do not identify a universally best beginner weapon or a required spending route.
How does combat work?
Zombie Frontier 4 is a first-person mobile shooter built around stages, varied zombie encounters, boss fights, and event stages. The official Apple App Store listing and Google Play listing describe enemies and settings ranging from pouncing zombie dogs and tentacled zombies to Lickers, Chargers, and the Mother Worm boss, across locations such as snow, desert, and caves. Expect encounters to vary rather than assuming one approach will work everywhere.
Which weapon should a beginner use?
The official listings name pistols, automatic rifles, shotguns, sniper rifles, grenades, and heavy weapons. They describe different weapon styles—not a ranked list of the most effective choices. The Apple listing, for example, points to aiming pistols at vulnerable areas and distinguishes the firing approaches of automatic rifles and shotguns.
| Weapon or option | Documented role or note |
|---|---|
| Pistols | The Apple listing highlights aiming at vulnerable areas. |
| Automatic rifles | Named as an option with a distinct firing style; comparative damage and efficiency are not stated. |
| Shotguns | Named as an option with a distinct firing style; comparative damage and efficiency are not stated. |
| Sniper rifles and heavy weapons | Included in the official weapon selection; a universal beginner ranking is not stated. |
| Grenades | Listed as an available combat option; exact best-use situations are not stated. |
Use the available weapon roles as a way to think about an encounter, not as proof that one gun is best for every stage. The official listings do not publish head-to-head damage, handling, or progression-efficiency data, nor a complete chart matching each enemy to a counter.

How do weapons, armor, and survival items fit into progression?
The Apple listing describes collecting materials and blueprints to forge weapons, then upgrading or modifying weapons and selecting armor. It also names First Aid Kits and Adrenalines as purchasable consumables. These are separate pieces of the game’s development and survival systems; the listing does not provide a complete crafting recipe, resource economy, or exact early-game upgrade priority.
A concrete upgrade threshold is documented for weapon Modules. In an older official Help Center article, the stated rule is to upgrade a gun part to level 6 before using blueprints to unlock that part’s Module feature. The article says Modules can be obtained through Defense Stages or Preparation Chests. If the current game interface differs, follow the live in-game requirements.

How do you advance through the campaign?
An older Traditional Chinese Help Center article describes boss stages opening after players clear specified main stages in an area. It says the first boss-stage clear grants rewards and unlocks the next area. This supports the general progression pattern—advance through main stages, then take on an area’s boss—but it does not establish one fixed stage count or a complete map for all current content.

The Apple listing labels the game free with in-app purchases, and Google Play flags ads and in-app purchases. Store offers and metadata can change. The presence of paid packs does not establish that payment is necessary to clear a particular stage; the official sources do not document a mandatory purchase for campaign progression.

What should you keep in mind as you start?
- Expect weapon roles and enemy encounters to vary; treat official descriptions as options, not a definitive counter guide.
- Develop weapons and consider armor and consumables as part of survival, while checking the game for the current costs and requirements.
- For Modules, the documented Help Center rule is a level-6 gun-part prerequisite, with Modules available from Defense Stages or Preparation Chests.
- Use main-stage and boss-stage progression as the broad campaign framework; do not assume an older help article defines every current unlock threshold.
