Is the program 32-bit or 64-bit?
Historical metadata identifies this component as a Win32 application DLL. An old 32-bit program normally loads its private DLL from its own installation folder.Recommended: Crashes or Glitches? The message may say:
- “The program can’t start because 00003637.dll is missing from your computer.”
- “Error loading 00003637.dll. The specified module could not be found.”
- “Failed to load 00003637.dll.”
- “This application has failed to start because 00003637.dll was not found.”
- “The code execution cannot proceed because 00003637.dll was not found.”
Windows may instead display Archives.dll. That is important because available historical metadata strongly indicates that 00003637.dll is a cataloged or renamed alias for the old Gadu-Gadu archive component commonly identified as Archives.dll.

What 00003637.dll is
00003637.dll is not a normal Windows system file and is not a standard Microsoft runtime, DirectX component, .NET file, or device driver.
It is associated with Archiwum, the archive feature of the old Gadu-Gadu instant messenger. Historical information identifies the component as:
- Description:
Gadu-Gadu - Archiwum - Product:
Archiwum - Internal name:
Archiwum - Original filename:
Archives.dll - Company or publisher field:
n0ne
Those details come from old application metadata rather than a current Microsoft catalog or current official Gadu-Gadu installer. Treat the numeric-name relationship as strongly supported, but do not assume every file named 00003637.dll is genuine.

Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →The DLL is also separate from your saved conversation archive. Old Gadu-Gadu installations could store archive data in files such as archives.dat. Deleting or replacing the DLL does not recreate those messages.
Fix 1: Back up Gadu-Gadu data before changing anything
Do this before uninstalling, deleting folders, or using System Restore.
- Close Gadu-Gadu completely.
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
- Select any remaining Gadu-Gadu process.
- Choose End task.
- Open File Explorer.
- Search your old Gadu-Gadu installation and profile folders for files or folders containing:
archivearchives.datprofile- your old Gadu-Gadu number or account name
- Copy the relevant folders to an external drive or a new backup folder.
- If you are unsure which folder contains the messages, copy the entire old Gadu-Gadu data folder rather than deleting files selectively.
The exact location depends on the Gadu-Gadu release and Windows version. Do not assume the archive is stored beside the executable.
If the old installation is under C:Program Files or C:Program Files (x86), copy the data to a separate backup location before attempting repairs. Do not use the backup as a replacement DLL source unless you know it came from the same installation.

Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix 2: Repair or reinstall the matching Gadu-Gadu version
This is the most likely solution because 00003637.dll is an application component, not a Windows component.
Try the existing installation first
- Open Settings.
- Select Apps.
- Choose Installed apps on Windows 11, or Apps & features on Windows 10.
- Find the old Gadu-Gadu installation.
- Open its menu.
- Choose Modify, Repair, or the installer’s repair option if available.
- Complete the repair.
- Restart Windows.
- Launch Gadu-Gadu from its normal shortcut.
If there is no repair option, use the original installer or a trusted backup of the exact old release. The current official GG product is newer and should not be assumed to contain this obsolete archive component.
Reinstall safely
- Confirm that your Gadu-Gadu archive and profile data are backed up.
- Open Settings → Apps → Installed apps.
- Select the damaged Gadu-Gadu installation.
- Choose Uninstall.
- Restart Windows.
- Reinstall from the original installer, a trusted archival copy, or installation media you already know belongs to that Gadu-Gadu release.
- Keep the program’s original installation folder and architecture.
- Start the program from its installed shortcut.
Do not mix files from several Gadu-Gadu releases. A replacement from a different release may have the same filename but still be incompatible with the executable or its other dependencies.
Success looks like: Gadu-Gadu opens without the missing-file message, and the archive feature loads normally.
If it fails: Check whether the new message requests 00003637.dll or Archives.dll. Also confirm that Windows is launching the copy you repaired rather than a second Gadu-Gadu installation elsewhere.
Fix 3: Check Windows Security quarantine
Antivirus software may have removed an old DLL. Do not immediately download a replacement.
- Open Windows Security from the Start menu.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Choose Protection history.
- Look for an entry involving Gadu-Gadu,
00003637.dll, orArchives.dll. - Expand the detection details.
- Check the original file path.
Only consider restoring the file if it was inside the genuine Gadu-Gadu installation directory, the surrounding installation is trusted, and your security software indicates that the detection was a false positive.
If the file was in a temporary folder, startup location, browser profile, or unrelated application directory, do not restore it merely because the filename matches. Scan the entire installation and obtain a clean copy from the original installer instead.

If the antivirus repeatedly removes the file after reinstalling, leave protection enabled and investigate the detection. Disabling antivirus protection to copy in a random DLL is not a safe repair.

Fix 4: Check whether the file exists but a dependency is missing
The phrase “specified module could not be found” does not always mean the named DLL itself is absent. Windows can display it when the requested DLL exists but one of that DLL’s dependencies cannot be loaded.
- Open File Explorer.
- Browse to the old Gadu-Gadu installation folder.
- Confirm whether
00003637.dllorArchives.dllis present. - Right-click the file and select Properties.
- Check the Details tab.
- Confirm that the file is located in the Gadu-Gadu folder, not in
System32orSysWOW64. - Open Event Viewer.
- Select Windows Logs → Application.
- Look for an error recorded at the time Gadu-Gadu failed.
- Note any additional module name shown in the event.
A dependency-analysis utility can identify which library the old component expects, but do not download replacement DLLs one at a time based only on a filename. The available evidence does not establish a specific Visual C++ version or other runtime required by this component.
Check the application architecture
Historical metadata identifies the archive component as Win32, or 32-bit. That means:
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute- A 64-bit replacement is not appropriate.
- A 32-bit program normally loads its private DLL from its own folder.
SysWOW64is used by Windows for 32-bit system components on 64-bit Windows, but that does not make it the correct home for this application DLL.- Installing a 64-bit runtime does not repair a missing 32-bit application file.
Do not copy the file to C:WindowsSystem32 or C:WindowsSysWOW64.
Fix 5: Check Microsoft runtimes only when the error identifies one
There is no verified evidence that 00003637.dll itself is a Visual C++, DirectX, or .NET file.
If Event Viewer or a dependency check specifically identifies a missing Microsoft runtime, install that runtime only from Microsoft. For a 32-bit legacy application, an x86 runtime may be relevant, but the required runtime version has not been verified for this archive component.
Do not install several runtime packages at random. That adds software without proving which dependency is missing.
Fix 6: Use DISM and SFC only for wider Windows corruption
DISM and System File Checker repair protected Windows components. They do not normally recreate a third-party Gadu-Gadu DLL.
Use them when other Windows applications are also failing or Windows reports damaged system files.
- Open Start.
- Type Command Prompt.
- Right-click Command Prompt.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
- Wait for it to finish.
- Then run:
sfc /scannow
- Restart Windows.
- Try Gadu-Gadu again.
Microsoft recommends running DISM before SFC. If both commands complete successfully but the Gadu-Gadu error remains, that is expected when only the application installation is damaged.
When manually repeating SFC and DISM leaves you guessing about what changed, Outbyte PC Repair can scan for problems and show what it finds; repairs are performed by the full version, but reinstalling the matching Gadu-Gadu release remains the definitive fix for this file.

Do not copy 00003637.dll into System32
Random DLL download sites sites are a poor solution here. A downloaded file may contain malware, target the wrong Gadu-Gadu release, use the wrong architecture, or simply fail because another dependency is missing.
Copying it into System32 can also cause Windows to load an unintended copy before the application’s private copy. It hides the original installation problem and can affect other programs.
If you have a known-good copy from the exact same Gadu-Gadu installation, placing it back in that application’s own folder can be a temporary recovery step. Reinstalling the application is safer.
Do not use regsvr32 for this file
regsvr32 is not a general missing-DLL repair command. It is intended for DLLs that provide a registration entry point such as DllRegisterServer.
Recommended Free Tools
An old private archive DLL normally loads directly when gg.exe starts. It does not normally need global registration. Running either command is usually inappropriate:
regsvr32 00003637.dll
regsvr32 Archives.dll
You may receive an error saying that DllRegisterServer was not found. That does not mean the DLL needs a different registration command. It means the DLL is not a self-registering COM or ActiveX component.

Windows Features and drivers are not default fixes
Do not enable random Windows features to repair this file. Use Control Panel → Programs → Turn Windows features on or off only when the application’s own documentation or an error message explicitly names a Windows feature. There is no evidence that DirectPlay, .NET, or another optional Windows feature is the default requirement for this archive component.
Drivers are also not the normal cause. If the error is actually reported by another program that identifies a hardware or display driver, update that driver through:
- Right-click Start.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand the relevant device category.
- Right-click the device.
- Select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for drivers.
- Restart Windows if a driver is installed.
Do not use Device Manager to search for 00003637.dll. It is an application file, not a driver.
When checking many devices manually becomes a matter of hunting versions and guessing which driver is stale, Outbyte Driver Updater can scan and identify driver issues; installation of updates is handled by the full version, and drivers will not replace the missing Gadu-Gadu component.
If reinstalling does not restore the file
Work through these checks:
- Read the exact filename in the new error.
- Search for multiple Gadu-Gadu installations.
- Confirm which
gg.exethe shortcut launches. - Check whether antivirus immediately quarantines the restored file.
- Confirm that the installer completed without errors.
- Check the application directory for the DLL.
- Look in Event Viewer for a missing dependency.
- Try the program under a new Windows user account if the failure appears profile-specific.
- Check whether the old program is compatible with your Windows release.
Do not grant broad write access to Program Files. If the application needs old profile data, preserve it separately and use the program’s supported data location.
System Restore may help if the file disappeared after a recent cleanup or installation and a suitable restore point exists. Back up the Gadu-Gadu profile first.
When to stop repairing the old client
A correct DLL does not guarantee that old Gadu-Gadu will function on modern Windows. The client may depend on obsolete network protocols, certificates, permissions, or services that are no longer available.
If the matching installer cannot be trusted, the archive data cannot be preserved, or the program remains incompatible after a clean reinstall, stop adding random DLLs and runtimes. Use the current official GG application or web service where possible, and keep the old installation backed up for archive recovery rather than running it indefinitely.
Frequently asked questions
Is 00003637.dll a Windows system file?
No. Available historical evidence associates it with the old Gadu-Gadu Archiwum component. It should not normally be installed in System32 or SysWOW64.
Is 00003637.dll the same as Archives.dll?
Available metadata strongly indicates that the numeric name is an alias or cataloged name for the component whose embedded original filename was Archives.dll. The reason for the naming difference is not officially documented.
PC Slower Than It Used to Be?
A free scan shows the junk files, broken settings and background clutter dragging Windows down - then fixes them in one click.Free scan · Windows 10 & 11Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteShould I download the DLL separately?
No. Restore the matching Gadu-Gadu installation from its original installer or a trusted backup. Random DLL downloads can be unsafe, incompatible, or incomplete.
Should I install Visual C++, DirectX, or .NET?
Not as a default response. There is no verified evidence connecting this file specifically to those packages. Install a runtime only when a dependency check or error identifies it.
Why does Windows say the module is missing when the file exists?
The named DLL may have a missing dependency, may be the wrong architecture, or may not be in the directory used by the launching executable.
Can SFC restore this file?
Normally no. SFC and DISM repair protected Windows components, not old third-party Gadu-Gadu application files.
Is the file malware because its name is numeric?
Not necessarily. The historical evidence connects this name with an old Gadu-Gadu archive component. Verify the path, source, signature information, and antivirus results rather than judging the file by its name alone.
What should I do with my old messages?
Back up the Gadu-Gadu profile and archive data before uninstalling. The DLL is not the archive itself, and reinstalling the program does not guarantee that old messages will be preserved.
