The shortlist below is ranked for the US App Store using gunplay, mode variety, current support, device accessibility, competitive depth, controls and value—not App Store stars alone.
Availability, iOS requirements, controller policies, storage and update activity can change. The first five have the clearest current evidence; verify the US listing for ranks six through ten before installing.

That favors games that are enjoyable on touch, remain supported, offer a clear reason to return and run on a useful range of Apple hardware.

1. Call of Duty: Mobile — best overall
Call of Duty: Mobile is the safest single download. It combines quick Team Deathmatch, Domination and Kill Confirmed rounds with ranked play, battle royale, familiar Call of Duty maps and seasonal progression. Activision describes continuing seasonal content, while the US App Store listing supports iPhone and iPad and requires iOS 15 or later. Optional downloads can reduce the initial installation, but the complete game is much larger.
Touch controls are highly configurable, and compatible PlayStation, Xbox and MFi controllers are officially supported in multiplayer and battle royale. Controller matchmaking and input rules can differ from touch play, so check the current policy before choosing a controller-first setup. The larger iPad display gives the HUD more room, although large tablets can make thumb reach awkward.
It is free to download, with cosmetics, battle-pass-style seasonal content, advertising, messaging and randomized rewards. None of those systems makes a purchase mandatory, but the number of currencies and events can make the interface feel crowded. Choose it when you want one app covering several FPS styles.

2. Delta Force — best for large-scale warfare and extraction
Delta Force offers something most mobile FPS games do not: 48-player Warfare battles with land, sea and air vehicles, destruction-focused maps and an operator-based extraction mode. It is the recommendation for players who want a military shooter that feels broader than a 5v5 arena.
The US App Store lists iOS 12 or later, 2 GB RAM and an A10 processor or better as minimum guidance. It recommends iOS 14 or later, 4 GB RAM and an A13 processor or better—roughly iPhone 11 or iPad 9 and newer. Those figures describe eligibility, not guaranteed frame rate. Test a full match, temperature and battery drain; sustained play can throttle older or passively cooled devices.
Extraction adds gear loss, longer sessions and meaningful failure, while Warfare is more immediately accessible. The listing confirms in-app purchases but does not establish official controller support, so do not assume an Xbox or PlayStation pad will work. Keep substantial free storage for updates and additional assets.

Its innovative electromagnetic induction technology ensures drift-free operation, enabling precise character control in intense games and significantly extending this phone game controller durability

The lighting is vibrant yet eye-friendly. The built-in 600mAh battery provides up to 6 hours of battery life in brightness mode — enough for a full day of gaming
3. Rainbow Six Mobile — best tactical 5v5 FPS
Rainbow Six Mobile is for players who would rather win through information, breaching and sound than constant sprinting. Ubisoft’s mobile-specific tactical FPS uses attacker-versus-defender 5v5 rounds, gadgets and destructible environments. Map knowledge and coordinated timing matter more than raw movement speed.
The US listing requires iOS 16 or later and an A12 Bionic chip or later, making it a newer-device recommendation than lightweight competitive shooters. An iPad provides more space for a customized HUD and a clearer view of tactical information, but solo players should expect inconsistent teammates. Verify controller support and whether different input devices receive separate matchmaking before buying hardware.

It is free to download with the usual live-service progression. Its narrower mode selection is deliberate: this is a focused tactical game, not a replacement for Call of Duty: Mobile’s broad menu.
4. Critical Ops — best competitive classic FPS
Critical Ops is a mobile-designed competitive shooter built around compact 5v5 rounds, fast reactions and traditional team tactics. It is a strong choice for Counter-Strike-style players who want clear weapon roles and less seasonal clutter than the biggest military shooters.
The US App Store supports iPhone and iPad and requires iOS 15 or later. Its focused design makes it one of the more sensible older-device choices among the better-supported recommendations, although “can install” still does not guarantee a stable frame rate. Touch controls, sensitivity and HUD layout deserve manual tuning. Controller compatibility is not established by the cited listing, so verify it in the current build.
Free-to-play purchases are present, but the attraction is the competitive core rather than a large collection of modes. Pick it over Call of Duty: Mobile when a clean, round-based match matters more than battle royale or vehicles.

5. Blood Strike — best fast-moving battle royale FPS
Blood Strike centers on aggressive movement, slide-and-shoot fights and a mobile-native battle royale pace. It is a better fit than PUBG MOBILE if you dislike waiting, prefer constant engagements and enjoy character abilities.
The US App Store explicitly says “Controller Supported” and lists iPhone and iPad availability. The search listing shows roughly 730 MB, but post-install maps, textures and events can increase storage use. Touch players can customize controls; iPad owners gain visibility but may need to adjust button placement for reach.
It is free with in-app purchases and a 13+ rating. Event collaborations can change the tone, so judge the core game rather than temporary branding. Controller support is documented here more clearly than for most entries, making it a sensible choice for a pad-first iPhone setup.
6. Arena Breakout — best hardcore extraction shooter
Arena Breakout is the specialist choice for extraction: enter a raid, search for equipment, manage weight and inventory, then escape alive. Unlike respawn-based multiplayer, carrying valuable gear makes every sound and doorway consequential. Delta Force includes extraction as one mode; Arena Breakout makes it the central experience.

That focus creates friction. Raids can take longer, failure can permanently remove carried equipment, and a weak connection or low storage headroom is especially unwelcome. Verify its current US App Store availability, iOS/iPadOS requirements, controller policy, account system and update activity before installing. It suits deliberate solo or squad players, not people seeking five-minute matches.
7. PUBG MOBILE — best traditional battle royale gunplay
PUBG MOBILE remains the conventional battle royale choice: large maps, looting, vehicles, squads and a more grounded rhythm than Blood Strike. It is the alternative for players who want positioning and survival to matter more than hero abilities or nonstop movement.

- 1000Hz Polling Rate on PC: Experience ultra-responsive gaming with a 1000Hz polling rate on PC, available through both wired and 2.4G wireless connections. This ensures instantaneous input registration, reducing lag and optimizing your performance for the most competitive gameplay.
- GameSir Nexus App: The G7 Pro is compatible with the upgraded GameSir Nexus app, which brings a significant upgrade over the original. It introduces powerful new features such as gyro settings, stick curve adjustments, and button-to-mouse mapping, giving you deeper customization and more control than ever before.
Keep storage in mind. Optional high-resolution textures, maps and other assets can make the final footprint much larger than the initial App Store download. Performance varies with device, server, graphics setting and region. Verify the current US listing, supported iOS version, controller behavior and frame-rate options; PUBG MOBILE is not interchangeable with BGMI or the PC/console PUBG ecosystem.
8. Combat Master Mobile — best lightweight arcade alternative
Combat Master Mobile targets players who want very fast arena matches without committing to the largest live-service installations. Its appeal is immediate movement and short sessions, making it a useful alternative when Call of Duty: Mobile feels too busy.
Depth, update cadence, monetization, controller support and any offline or bot modes should be checked in the current US version rather than inferred from community posts. It has less franchise scale and less established breadth than the top five, but can be the right fit for a speed-first player or an older device that struggles with heavier games.
9. Standoff 2 — best minimalist tactical shooter
Standoff 2 is a leaner competitive option for players who want traditional rounds without battle royale, vehicles or hero systems. It belongs beside Critical Ops as a focused tactical alternative, not beside Delta Force as a large-scale war game.
Before downloading, verify the exact US App Store listing, current iOS requirement, update date, controller support, matchmaking and purchase model. Its smaller mode and progression scope can be an advantage for players who prefer clarity, but it offers fewer reasons to switch between playlists.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.10. Warface GO — best approachable PvP/PvE hybrid
Warface GO combines competitive multiplayer with cooperative missions. Its App Store description lists seven maps, four game modes, more than 20 rotating mini-events, over 200 customizable weapons and equipment items, and four-player co-op raids. That makes it the most useful recommendation here for someone who wants PvE as well as PvP.
Best Value
- Officially licensed by Xbox. Bluetooth connection. Supports Xbox Cloud Gaming.
- Officially supported by Apple. Compatible with Apple and Android devices. Stretchable design fits most phones (100–170mm in length).
- Hall Effect Joysticks and Triggers - Upgraded. Robust and long-lasting. Offering higher precision and sensitivity.
- Tactile bumpers and D-pad, 2 Pro back paddle buttons, Xbox button, and wear-resistant metal joystick rings for more ways to play.
- Support 8BitDo Ultimate Software V2 on mobile.
It is free with in-app purchases on iPhone and iPad. The older service may have a smaller or less consistent population than the leading games, and progression can create pressure to spend for faster advancement. Treat that as a value consideration, not proof that competitive wins require payment. Check recent updates and matchmaking activity in your region.
Choosing by play style
| If you want… | Start with… |
|---|---|
| Arcade multiplayer | Call of Duty: Mobile or Combat Master Mobile |
| Battle royale | Blood Strike for speed; PUBG MOBILE for traditional pacing |
| Extraction | Arena Breakout for specialization; Delta Force for a broader package |
| Tactical 5v5 | Rainbow Six Mobile, Critical Ops or Standoff 2 |
| Large-scale vehicles and warfare | Delta Force |
| PvE and co-op | Warface GO |
| Older supported hardware | Critical Ops, subject to current compatibility |
Touch controls, controllers and iPad play
Every game here is designed for touch input, but quality and customization differ. On iPad, enlarge or reposition the fire, crouch and reload controls before judging a game; the extra screen area can improve visibility while making thumb reach worse on a large Pro model. Gyro aiming, opacity, sensitivity and aim assist are game-specific settings that should be checked in the current build.
Call of Duty: Mobile and Blood Strike have explicit controller evidence. Delta Force, Arena Breakout, PUBG MOBILE, Standoff 2 and Combat Master Mobile should not be advertised as controller-compatible without a current official confirmation. An Xbox Wireless Controller or DualSense with an iPad stand is practical for long sessions; a Backbone One is aimed at iPhone and requires the correct Lightning or USB-C model. Controller support can include separate input rules or matchmaking, so read the game’s policy rather than assuming a level playing field.
Official accessory pages: Backbone One, Razer Kishi Ultra, Xbox Wireless Controller and DualSense.
Performance, storage and network checks
- A minimum iOS version or processor means the app may install; it does not promise stable frame rates in a full match.
- Leave meaningful internal storage free. App Store size excludes some later maps, textures and seasonal assets.
- Test a 20–30 minute session for heat, battery drain and thermal throttling, especially on passively cooled iPhones and iPads.
- Check the current 60 fps, 90 fps or 120 fps options for your exact device instead of assuming high-refresh support.
- All of these live-service recommendations require network access; unstable Wi-Fi or cellular service can matter more than peak hardware.
- Confirm how progress is saved through Game Center, Apple login or a publisher account before deleting an app.
Monetization and privacy
All recommendations are free downloads or free-to-play services rather than paid upfront games. Purchases may include cosmetics, seasonal passes, randomized rewards, starter bundles, operators, weapons or progression boosts. The presence of purchases does not by itself establish pay-to-win competition; evaluate whether paid items change power in the current version.
Live shooters commonly include accounts, chat and usage diagnostics. Delta Force’s App Store privacy label identifies categories including usage data, identifiers, purchases, user content and diagnostics. Review each listing’s current privacy label and use parental controls for child accounts.
What is not on this list
Older recommendation lists often include Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile. Search evidence indicates it was removed from the App Store and stopped receiving updates in 2025, but an official Activision announcement should be checked before making a definitive service-status claim. It is not included as an active 2026 recommendation here. Regional editions also matter: PUBG MOBILE, BGMI and other country-specific releases are separate listings and services.
The Bottom Line
Download Call of Duty: Mobile if you want the best all-purpose package. Choose Delta Force for scale, Rainbow Six Mobile for tactical 5v5, Critical Ops for focused competition, Blood Strike for fast battle royale movement and Arena Breakout for uncompromising extraction. Check the current US App Store listing, storage burden and controller policy before committing—especially for the lower five.
