How this FM24 ranking works
Sortitoutsi describes a wonderkid as a player under 21 with high potential ability, while FMInside’s French shortlist uses a potential-ability threshold of at least 150 or -8. Those are source-specific ways of identifying prospects, not a single official game definition. Sortitoutsi’s displayed French list also includes some players aged 21, so its inclusion alone does not establish that every listed player meets a strict under-21 cutoff.
The order below is a practical editorial synthesis rather than a universal verdict. Club finances, tactical roles, database version and save setup all affect which player is the best signing. Positions should be checked in the database version you are playing.

The 10 best French wonderkids in Football Manager 2024
1. Warren Zaïre-Emery — central or defensive midfield
Zaïre-Emery tops this list for the combination of reported potential and immediate usefulness in midfield. FootballManagerBlog’s 2023 FM24 table lists him at age 17 with current ability 148 and potential ability 180. These are game-database ratings from that source, not measurements of real-world ability. His place in the midfield also makes him a flexible priority for clubs that need a young central option.
2. Eduardo Camavinga — left defense or defensive/central midfield
Camavinga offers unusually broad role coverage for this ranking, with the suggested pool including left defense as well as defensive and central midfield. FootballManagerBlog’s 2023 FM24 table gives him age 20, current ability 170 and potential ability 180. That high starting ability makes him a different proposition from a longer-term project: he can suit a side seeking a player who contributes sooner, though the best fit depends on your formation.

Yoro is a high-priority option if your squad needs a young center-back. He appears in both the Sortitoutsi French list and FMInside’s French shortlist, giving him support across sources with differing selection criteria. The supplied sources do not establish a comparable set of exact ratings or a transfer price for him, so assess his in-game profile and affordability in your save.

Tel is one of the attack-minded choices in a list otherwise weighted toward midfield and defense. The suggested roles are striker and wide forward, offering a route to cover more than one attacking position. He appears on Sortitoutsi’s French list; as with any high-potential player, his usefulness depends on opportunities to train and play rather than potential alone.

5. Désiré Doué — attacking midfield
Doué adds an attacking-midfield option for teams that need creativity behind the forwards. He appears on Sortitoutsi’s French list, and his inclusion gives the ranking a different profile from the deeper midfielders near the top. Check his exact roles and attributes in your database before deciding whether he fits your system.
6. Junior Kroupi — attacking midfield or forward
Kroupi is a versatile attacking option, suggested for attacking midfield or forward. He appears in both Sortitoutsi’s French list and FMInside’s shortlist, making him one of the candidates supported across the two differently defined lists. The right use for him will depend on which role your tactic needs and the player profile shown in your save.
7. Guillaume Restes — goalkeeper
Restes is the goalkeeper choice in this top 10. He gives the list coverage in a position the outfield-heavy candidates do not address. If goalkeeper is not a pressing need, an attacker or defender may offer more immediate value to your particular squad; confirm Restes’ in-game role suitability and development needs in your database.

8. Eliesse Ben Seghir — attacking midfield
Ben Seghir is another attacking-midfield prospect listed by Sortitoutsi. He is a useful alternative when your save calls for depth or competition in that area rather than another central midfielder. Compare the exact attributes and roles in your game instead of treating a shortlist label as a guarantee that he will develop into a first-team player.

9. Castello Lukeba — center-back
Lukeba strengthens the defensive side of the shortlist and appears on Sortitoutsi’s French list. He is worth considering if you want another center-back option alongside Yoro, particularly when role coverage matters more than selecting solely by potential. No exact rating or price for him is established by the sources used here.
10. Bradley Barcola — wide attack or striker
Barcola rounds out the list as a wide attacker or striker. His suggested role coverage makes him a candidate for squads looking for more attacking flexibility. He appears in Sortitoutsi’s French list; whether he belongs ahead of another name for your save depends on your formation, squad needs and the database profile you are using.

- Need a midfielder: Start with Zaïre-Emery for potential or Camavinga for a player whose reported starting ability is already high. Consider Doué or Ben Seghir if you specifically need an attacking-midfield option.
- Need a center-back: Compare Yoro and Lukeba in your save. The sources do not provide a directly comparable rating set that settles which one is better for every club.
- Need an attacker: Tel and Barcola cover wide attack or striker in the suggested pool; Doué, Kroupi and Ben Seghir are alternatives when attacking midfield is the need.
- Need a goalkeeper: Restes is the list’s goalkeeper pick; check whether your club can give him the training and match opportunities his development requires.
- Need a longer-term prospect: Treat potential ability as a ceiling, not a promise. Sortitoutsi’s definition text notes the importance of training and game time.
Why FM24 lists may disagree
Shortlists do not apply identical filters. FMInside’s French list uses a potential ability of at least 150 or -8, while Sortitoutsi describes wonderkids by age and high potential, and its displayed list includes some 21-year-olds. FootballManagerBlog supplies specific CA and PA figures for Zaïre-Emery and Camavinga, but those figures are source-specific FM24 database ratings. This means a player’s presence or absence on one list is not proof that another list is wrong; the sources are not necessarily measuring the same pool in the same way.
