The list below mixes direct control, roster appearances, boss fights and symbiote-driven stories—so “featuring Venom” does not always mean you play as him.
How to choose a Venom game
Start with the role you want. For substantial time controlling Venom, look first at Ultimate Spider-Man. For a modern story in which he is central but not a playable lead, choose Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. If you enjoy turn-based team tactics, Marvel’s Midnight Suns adds him as a DLC hero. The remaining picks include fighting-game roster appearances, team action and older toys-to-life or licensed releases.

1. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 — Venom as a major story villain
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is the strongest modern pick if you want a large-scale Spider-Man story built around Venom’s threat. You play as Peter Parker and Miles Morales, not Venom, so it is not a Venom-player campaign. PlayStation lists the PS5 game with an October 20, 2023 release date; Marvel’s game page also lists a PC version. Check the relevant regional store for platform and edition details.

Choose it for a contemporary, story-led take on Venom and the conflict he brings to both Spider-Men. PlayStation’s US product page and Marvel’s game page describe the game and its platforms.
2. Ultimate Spider-Man — a separate Venom storyline
Ultimate Spider-Man is the standout choice here for players who specifically want to control Venom. The game has concurrent Spider-Man and Venom storylines, with Venom’s sections emphasizing destructive power rather than Peter Parker’s style. It is a 2005 release; confirm the exact platform and whether a playable copy is available in your region before buying, since current availability was not verified.
Rank #2

3. Marvel’s Midnight Suns — Venom as a DLC hero
Marvel’s Midnight Suns is a turn-based tactical role-playing game, not a free-roaming action brawler. Venom appears first as a boss in the main game and becomes playable through the Redemption DLC. The add-on requires the base game; PlayStation’s US listing says it is included in the Season Pass. Check the store listing for your platform to confirm the add-on package and current availability.
PlayStation Store’s US Redemption listing states the base-game requirement and Season Pass inclusion. 2K’s Season Pass announcement identifies Venom as DLC Pack #2 and a playable hero.
Rank #3
- Be Spider-Man – An experienced Spider-Man with several years of crime fighting under his belt, Peter Parker has sheer mastery of his powerful spider-sense, dynamic skills, acrobatic abilities, and new suit.
- Original Story – An all-new Spider-Man universe featuring familiar characters in unfamiliar roles. Peter Parker deals with his complex dual life as a young adult with great powers, discovering how his many relationships evolve.
- Blockbuster Action in an Open World - Swing freely through Marvel's New York City as Spider-Man via cinematic set-pieces filled with a rich narrative and relatable characters.
4. Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes — playable fighting-game roster member
This crossover fighter lets Venom bring symbiote attacks to a fast, team-based fighting game. It is a good fit if you want to use his moves in matches rather than follow a solo Venom narrative. Because it is an older release, verify the supported platform and current purchase options for your region before planning to play.
5. Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 — Venom on a team
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 is a team-based action game, and Venom can be added to the roster. The appeal is assembling a superhero squad and using him alongside other characters, not experiencing a dedicated Venom campaign. Check the specific release and platform to see whether Venom is available in the version you can access.
Rank #4
- Marvel’s Wolverine is a new action-packed adventure from Insomniac Games
- Play as Wolverine and Ravage enemies with explosive brutality and unleash razor-sharp adamantium claws to deploy fast, fluid attacks and overcome impossible odds
- An Original, Emotionally Charged Story. Beneath Wolverine’s gruff exterior and violent temperament is a man fighting for a cause greater than himself
- A Global, Adrenaline-Fueled Journey where you slice into enemies across detailed locales such as the frosted Canadian Wilderness, the narrow streets of Tokyo, and the high and low districts of the island nation of Madripoor
6. LEGO Marvel Super Heroes — a lighter unlockable Venom
LEGO Marvel Super Heroes offers a more playful take on the Marvel roster. Venom becomes playable after you beat his mission, making him an unlockable character rather than the focus of the main story. Confirm the platform and edition before purchase, as character access can depend on the version.
7. Disney Infinity 3.0 — Venom in a toys-to-life game
Disney Infinity 3.0 includes Venom as a playable character, but playing may involve more than obtaining the game: the series uses physical figures and related accessories. Treat this as a historical or collecting option, and verify the required figure, platform hardware and game edition before buying. Current access and compatibility were not confirmed.

8. Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects — an older fighting-game appearance
This 2005 fighting game is a legacy pick for players interested in earlier Marvel-versus-Marvel matchups. Venom is listed as playable, but platform-specific details and present-day availability have not been verified here. Check the exact release and hardware requirements before seeking out a copy.
9. Spider-Man: Web of Shadows — a city under symbiote attack
Spider-Man: Web of Shadows belongs on a broader “featuring Venom” list because its story centers on Venom’s invasion of Manhattan with a symbiote army. The evidence for this entry establishes Venom as a story threat, not that you control him. Choose it for the symbiote crisis and Spider-Man-focused action rather than a Venom campaign.
10. Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes — classic playable Venom
This earlier crossover fighter features Venom as a playable character, giving fans another roster-based way to use him. It is a historical option, so check the original platform requirements and whether a legitimate current version is available where you live before making plans to play.
Which one should you play?
- For the most direct Venom storyline: Ultimate Spider-Man.
- For Venom as a modern, central antagonist: Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
- For playable Venom in a strategy game: Marvel’s Midnight Suns, with its Redemption DLC and base-game requirement.
- For fighting-game matches: Marvel vs. Capcom 2 or Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes.
- For an ensemble action game: Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2.
- For a lighter unlockable-character option: LEGO Marvel Super Heroes.
- For a symbiote invasion story rather than direct control: Spider-Man: Web of Shadows.
For any older release, check the exact platform, edition, required accessories and local availability; these details can differ across versions and are not confirmed for every game above.
