If Helldivers 2’s four-player teamwork, chaotic missions and alien-swarm combat are what you want more of, start with Deep Rock Galactic for a close co-op fit, Earth Defense Force 6 for huge bug battles, or Space Marine 2 for a heavier action-shooter feel. None copies the whole Helldivers formula: the best alternative depends on whether you care most about squad size, PvE focus, perspective, mission structure or tactical depth.
What makes a game feel like Helldivers 2?
Helldivers 2 is a third-person cooperative shooter for PS5 and PC. PlayStation describes squads of up to four players, while the Steam listing emphasizes friendly fire and teamwork as essential to victory (PlayStation; Steam).

For alternatives, compare the parts of that experience separately: cooperative player count, PvE versus PvP, first- or third-person camera, enemy-swarm scale, mission objectives versus exploration or survival, and how much classes, builds and coordination matter. A game can match one or two of those traits without being a direct substitute.
10 games to try after Helldivers 2
1. Deep Rock Galactic — for tight squad co-op and swarms
This is the strongest pick if you want a small team facing hostile alien hordes together. It is a first-person co-op shooter for one to four players, built around mining and exploring generated, destructible caves (Steam). Compared with Helldivers 2, the setting and core loop lean more toward cave exploration and resource gathering than strategic military missions.

2. Space Marine 2 — for weighty third-person action
Try this if you want a third-person view and forceful combat against alien enemies. It is a recommendation for players drawn to the action-shooter side of Helldivers 2, rather than a claim that the games share its exact squad structure or mission loop.
3. Earth Defense Force 6 — for oversized enemy waves
Earth Defense Force is a natural choice if the appeal is fighting swarms of giant bugs and other invading threats with friends. Its tone and scale make it a more knowingly over-the-top alternative than Helldivers 2; check the edition and platform available to you before buying.
4. GTFO — for deliberate, high-stakes coordination
GTFO suits groups that want cooperation to feel demanding rather than casual. Consider it when careful planning and communication matter more to you than the rapid, chaotic rhythm of a standard horde shooter.

- Mediterranean Horror: Explore the forsaken capital of an awe-inspiring archipelago. Do not let yourself be fooled by the gentle sea breeze, the Mediterranean vistas or the comforting summer sun. Since the Devil's Fevers pandemic ravaged the city, it was abandoned, and now only horrific nightmares await there.
- Survive your Nemesis: Someone is relentlessly hunting you. Suffer and agonize while you try to run away from the encounters with this strange stalker obsessed with you.
- Intense Challenges: Solve environmental riddles, physics puzzles and other similar challenges in an interconnected vertical world. Even while being chased and hunted.
- Accessibility and Photomode: Tweak more than 20 Accessibility settings to create a tailored experience for you. Use the Photomode to make perfect shots and unlock many secrets using it.
5. Remnant 2 — for co-op shooting with build depth
Pick Remnant 2 if you want cooperative shooting but also want exploration and character builds to shape the experience. Its appeal is broader than fighting waves in a mission-based shooter, so it is less of a one-to-one Helldivers replacement.

This recommendation is for players who like the pressure of hostile alien encounters but are open to a more tactical approach. It shifts the emphasis away from controlling a conventional co-op shooter character and toward directing a squad.
7. Back 4 Blood — for mission-based zombie horde action
Back 4 Blood is worth considering if you mainly want a cooperative campaign built around fighting through enemy hordes. Its zombies and setting differ from Helldivers 2’s galactic war, but it targets a similar appetite for teamwork under pressure.

8. The Finals — for players willing to trade PvE for competitive matches
The Finals appears on broader lists of games with some shooter overlap, but it is not a PvE substitute. Choose it only if you are happy to exchange cooperative alien missions for competitive multiplayer.
9. Risk of Rain Returns — for escalating runs and replayability
This is the most distinct pick here: a run-based action game rather than a third-person military shooter. It may fit if repeated runs, rising difficulty and cooperative play matter more to you than Helldivers 2’s camera and mission presentation.
10. Starship Troopers: Extermination — for large-scale co-op bug fighting
If you want a strict list of ten different games, this is the pick in place of the original Helldivers. PlayStation’s listing describes it as a 16-player cooperative first-person shooter (PlayStation). That much larger group and first-person view make it meaningfully different from Helldivers 2’s squads of up to four.

How to use this list
Start by deciding which Helldivers 2 feature you want to keep. For small-team PvE, begin with Deep Rock Galactic. For a different scale of cooperative combat, consider Starship Troopers: Extermination. If what you want is primarily a third-person action game or a tactical challenge, Space Marine 2 or GTFO may be a better direction. These are recommendation matches, not claims that every listed game shares the same multiplayer mode, platforms or mission design; confirm the current store listing for your platform and edition before purchasing.
