This list follows Metacritic’s 2026 ranking of Bond games by Metascore, then considers what each game does well and where its version-specific caveats matter. A critics’ score is one way to compare reception—not a measure of sales, player preference, or a universal answer to which game you should play first.
Metacritic says its franchise ranking reaches back to 1982 but excludes games released before GoldenEye 007 because it lacks reviews for those earlier titles. For games on multiple platforms, the ranking uses the version with the most reviews. Scores and order can change as reviews accrue, and the platform listed below is the version represented by each score.

10 best James Bond games, ranked by Metascore
-
GoldenEye 007 (Nintendo 64, 1997) — 96
Metacritic’s 2026 ranking puts the N64 original first, and its reputation rests on more than adapting a popular film. Its missions gave players objectives beyond simply clearing a room, while its multiplayer helped introduce console first-person shooters to a wider audience, as The Guardian has noted. Metacritic’s ranking description says, “GoldenEye has a much greater legacy as a video game than it does as a movie.”

It is the clearest pick here for Bond fans interested in the franchise’s landmark game and its mission-and-multiplayer legacy.

-
007 First Light (PS5, 2026) — 87
The newest game in this ranking offers a current-generation contrast to the older entries. Metacritic describes it as a new origin story with a new portrayal of Bond; Tom’s Guide praises its cinematic campaign. The 87 is the Metacritic score for the PS5 version shown in its 2026 ranking; it is a critic-reception snapshot, not a statement about every platform or a hands-on assessment here.
Choose this entry if you want the ranking’s contemporary Bond adventure rather than a retro classic. Its position reflects the score reported for the PS5 edition, not a direct comparison of identical versions across every platform.
-
James Bond 007: Everything or Nothing (Xbox, 2004) — 83
This is the list’s strongest alternative for players who want Bond as a third-person action hero rather than a first-person shooter. GameSpot highlights its strategic shootouts, original story, and high-speed chases; calling it the best Bond game overall is GameSpot’s editorial judgment, not a universal verdict.

Please review EULA and Privacy policy.Metacritic reproduces an Electronic Gaming Monthly review praising the action and co-op mode: “It’s been a while since I played a game with such engaging, pure, and thrilling action, and on top of the excellent single-player game, there’s a pretty cool co-op mode to nicely round out the package.” Its original plot and driving sequences make it a natural pick for players after a broader action-adventure take on the character.
-
GoldenEye 007 (Wii, 2010) — 81
This Wii release is a reimagining, not a faithful remake of the Nintendo 64 game. It recasts Bond as Daniel Craig and uses Wii motion controls, so its name and source material should not be mistaken for the same missions or feel as the 1997 original. A later PS3 and Xbox 360 release appeared under the title GoldenEye 007: Reloaded.
Rank #2
James Bond 007: Blood Stone - Xbox 360- Blood Stone, an explosive third-person action/adventure game from critically acclaimed developer Bizarre Creations, features Daniel Craig, Judi Dench and Joss Stone in an original story from the writer of GoldenEye and Tomorrow Never Dies.
- Your 00 status has you battling through land, sea and air in exotic international locations such as Athens, Istanbul, Bangkok and Monaco in a wide variety of environments including city streets, rooftops, casinos, oil refineries, dams and even hovercrafts
- Become Bond using authentic combat maneuvers such as punches, kicks, grabs, throws and the environment to finish off enemies with a fighting style inspired by a blend of martial arts
- Use offensive driving techniques to speed, reverse and handbrake-turn your way through explosive driving sequences on land and sea, doing whatever it takes to stay alive and reach your destination
- Trust No One: The UK's biggest secret is about to fall into the wrong hands. Nothing is what it seems as you track an enemy who cannot be seen
The 81 listed here belongs to the Wii version. If you are comparing releases or seeking the N64 classic, check the edition carefully: the title alone does not identify the same game experience.
-
The World Is Not Enough (Nintendo 64, 2000) — 81
The N64 edition was the first new Bond game for the system after the Rare classic. Metacritic describes it as fun, while noting that it is too similar to its predecessor—a trade-off for anyone hoping for a substantial change from GoldenEye 007.

Please review EULA and Privacy policy.Platform matters: the 81 is for the Nintendo 64 version, while the PlayStation edition received materially lower reviews. Do not treat one platform’s score as a rating of the other port.
-
007: NightFire (Xbox, 2002) — 78
NightFire tells an original story involving a corporation and a militarized space station. The Xbox version is the one represented by the 78 here; the PC release is not interchangeable with it. Metacritic says the PC game used a different engine, omitted features including driving sequences, and received much worse reviews.
That distinction makes the console edition the relevant choice for readers drawn to the fuller feature set described in the ranking. A review or score for the Xbox release should not be used to judge the PC version.
Rank #3

-
James Bond 007: Agent Under Fire (PS2, 2001) — 72
Initially planned as a film tie-in, Agent Under Fire became an original Bond story. Critics found elements of the plot appealing, but also criticized its short length, ease, and guided, linear levels. That makes it a more limited recommendation for players seeking a challenging or open-ended campaign.

-
From Russia With Love (Xbox, 2005) — 71
This period-set adaptation features Sean Connery’s likeness and revisits an earlier era of Bond. GameSpot notes that the game adds action and multiplayer; Metacritic’s overview describes it as generally enjoyable but less successful than Everything or Nothing.
The Xbox version is the one represented by the score. It is a useful choice for players interested in Connery-era Bond, though the available critical comparison favors the earlier third-person action adventure.
-
007: Quantum of Solace (Xbox 360, 2008) — 65
The console and PC game combines the Quantum of Solace plot with flashbacks to Casino Royale. That mixed-story structure drew criticism, although Metacritic describes the gameplay as moderately enjoyable. The ranking’s score is for Xbox 360, so it should not automatically be applied to other editions.

James Bond 007 Nightfire - Xbox (Renewed)- ESRB Rating: Teen
- Genre: Action/Adventure
It is best suited to players specifically interested in this era of film Bond; the reception suggests a more uneven package than the higher-ranked options.
-
James Bond 007: Blood Stone (Xbox 360, 2010) — 62
Blood Stone tells an original story starring Daniel Craig’s Bond. Activision’s release announcement describes cover-based firefights, hand-to-hand combat, driving, and online multiplayer. Metacritic’s overview says critics considered it competently made but not exceptional.
The 62 is for the Xbox 360 version in Metacritic’s 2026 ranking. Its mix of action styles may appeal to players looking for an original Craig-era story, but its lower placement signals a less favorable critic reception than the entries above it.
How to choose beyond the ranking
The score order answers which games ranked highest with critics in Metacritic’s consulted list; it does not settle which game fits a particular player. Use the style and edition that match what you want:
- For Bond-game history and multiplayer legacy: start with the 1997 N64 GoldenEye 007.
- For third-person action, an original plot, and driving: consider Everything or Nothing.
- For a new-generation origin story: look at 007 First Light on PS5, the platform represented in this ranking.
- For a specific era or actor: From Russia With Love features Connery’s likeness, while Blood Stone and the Wii reimagining of GoldenEye use Daniel Craig’s Bond.
- Before comparing or buying: confirm the platform and edition. The N64 and PS1 versions of The World Is Not Enough, console and PC versions of NightFire, and Wii GoldenEye and Reloaded are not interchangeable.
What this ranking does—and does not—measure
Metascore provides a consistent critic-led ordering, but it is not a popularity poll, sales chart, player-count measure, or universal recommendation. Historical influence can matter independently of review averages: GoldenEye 007 stands out for its legacy, while a player looking for third-person action may prefer the approach of Everything or Nothing. Platform-specific differences also mean that a title’s listed score is evidence about a particular release, not every version carrying the same name.
