There is no single best talisman for every Monster Hunter Wilds weapon or build. The ten craftable charms below are useful starting points because each supplies a fixed skill, but the right choice is the one that fills a real gap in your set. For endgame hunters, randomized Appraised Talismans add another option: they can combine skills and decoration slots, but their rolls cannot be upgraded.
How to choose a talisman in Monster Hunter Wilds
Judge a talisman as part of the complete build, not in isolation. A skill that looks powerful may be redundant if your armor and decorations already provide it. A lower-priority skill—or useful decoration slots—may be a better fit if it lets you complete the rest of your set.

- Match the skill to your weapon and playstyle. Different weapons and builds prioritize different skills; a Lance recommendation is not automatically right for another weapon.
- Count useful skill levels. A charm’s listed skill and level are fixed, so check how much of the skill your set still needs.
- Account for decoration slots. Slots can ease pressure elsewhere in the build. For randomized talismans, assess the full skill-and-slot combination rather than rarity alone.
- Decide whether the goal is damage, utility, or comfort. A talisman chosen for part breaking or a deliberate skill setup is not necessarily a general damage recommendation.

This is a shortlist of build-specific candidates, not a universal ranking. The listed charm names and skill levels are reported by MHWILDSBUILD.COM and Phantom Brawlers; use cases below describe when each might fit, not measured damage results.

- Exploiter Charm III — Weakness Exploit 3. Consider it when Weakness Exploit fits your build’s affinity plan.
- Challenger Charm III — Agitator 3. A candidate when Agitator suits the build. The Lance guide also names it as a crafted fallback.
- Chain Charm III — Burst 3. Compare it against your set when Burst is among the skills you want to prioritize.
- Chainblade Charm III — Flayer 3. A Flayer option for builds that specifically want that skill, rather than a default pick for every weapon.
- Breaker Charm III — Partbreaker 3. A targeted utility choice when breaking parts is an objective.
- Phoenix Charm III — Coalescence 3. Consider it for a build that uses Coalescence.
- Foray Charm III — Foray 3. Choose it only if Foray complements your build’s approach to status or affinity.
- Fury Charm III — Resentment 3. A situational option for a set that can make use of Resentment.
- Counterattack Charm III — Adrenaline Rush 3. Weigh this counter-oriented skill against the playstyle of your particular weapon.
- Grit Charm IV — Heroics 4. A high-level, situational pick for hunters deliberately building around Heroics, not an all-purpose recommendation.
Why endgame Appraised Talismans change the choice
In a Director’s Letter announcing Ver. 1.021, Monster Hunter Wilds Director Yuya Tokuda said that hunters at HR 100 or higher can take on 9-star monster quests and earn Glowing Stones. After a quest, a Glowing Stone becomes an Appraised Talisman with random skills. Those rolls can include armor skills, weapon skills, and decoration slots for either skill type.

Tokuda also clarified that, unlike talismans crafted and upgraded at the Smithy, “Appraised Talismans cannot be upgraded.” That distinction matters: a craftable charm offers a known skill, while an appraisal is a random roll that may fit a finished build better but cannot be targeted to guarantee a particular combination. Icy Veins notes that high-rarity skill combinations can outperform craftable options and that a strong drop may free weapon-decoration slots.
What Lance hunters should look for
For Lance, Icy Veins highlights Offensive Guard, Master’s Touch, Guard, Attack Boost, and Critical Eye as skills to consider on endgame talismans. It identifies Challenger Charm III or Power Charm III as crafted options when a suitable drop is unavailable. A talisman with weapon skills may require decoration changes to preserve the armor skills you want, so evaluate the whole set rather than swapping charms in isolation.

Start with the skills your own weapon and build need, rather than copying another weapon’s priorities. How to get and assess randomized talismans
Earn Appraised Talismans
Capcom’s Ver. 1.021 announcement establishes the route: complete eligible 9-star hunts at HR 100 or higher to earn Glowing Stones, which become randomized Appraised Talismans after the quest. The announcement does not rank hunts by talisman efficiency, so it does not establish a definitive best farm.

Compare the complete roll with your build
For any candidate, check whether its skills and slots improve the build you actually want to use. A high rarity by itself does not show that a talisman is useful; its value depends on the skills, slots, and existing armor and decoration setup together. The craftable options above are most useful when their fixed skill addresses a specific need, while a random roll is worth considering when its combination works better for the full set.
