Games for deep builds and long-term progression
1. Path of Exile
Choose Path of Exile if you want a free online action RPG built around a continuing stream of loot and character-system decisions. Its official site highlights item trading, leagues and events, item filters, and both passive and Atlas trees. That breadth is a strength for players who enjoy planning and refining builds, but it is not the simplest pick for someone seeking a straightforward, offline Diablo-like.
2. Path of Exile 2
Path of Exile 2 is another option in the same broad loot-focused action-RPG lane. GameSpot includes it among Diablo alternatives, but current early-access, edition, and platform details are purchase-critical and are not established here. Check the official site before deciding whether or where to buy it.
3. Last Epoch
Last Epoch is a strong fit if you want to shape a character by modifying skills as well as choosing a class. Its Steam listing describes 15 mastery classes and more than 100 skill trees, alongside dungeon crawling, loot, and crafting. It released on Steam on February 21, 2024. The combination makes it a natural choice for players who enjoy testing build ideas and improving equipment through a campaign and beyond.

Grim Dawn suits players who want darker fantasy, substantial itemization, and a dual-class system. Crate Entertainment also points to consequential quests, factions, and endgame activities. The developer describes it as “Known for its rewarding itemization, dual class system, choice and consequence questing, factions and rewarding end-game activities, Grim Dawn is sure to entice fans of the genre both new and old.”
Edition details vary by platform: the official site says the Xbox Definitive Edition bundles Ashes of Malmouth, Forgotten Gods, and Crucible. Titan Quest II brings the series’ mythic setting into a new action RPG. Its official page emphasizes Greek mythology, exploration, meaningful loot and crafting, and combat. Its build system lets you combine two masteries into a hybrid class, and the page describes online multiplayer.
