Act I mixes explicit League of Legends connections with subtler worldbuilding and visual callbacks. The clearest include Janna’s temple, Heimerdinger’s “brambleback” code phrase, a blink-and-you-miss-it Teemo image, the Black Rose’s move against Ambessa, Viktor’s champion-skin design influence, and the return of “Get Jinxed.” The remaining entries are best read as production context or interpretation—not as ten equally confirmed champion cameos.
What counts as an Easter egg in Act I?
Arcane is based on Riot Games’ League of Legends, and Netflix identifies Season 2 as the show’s final season. Act I comprises Episodes 1–3: “Heavy Is the Crown,” “Watch It All Burn,” and “Finally Got the Name Right.” Netflix’s season guide confirms the episode titles and season context.
This list is a curated guide, not an official Riot ranking. Some details are explicit references or production-confirmed design links; others are scene readings and broader franchise context. That distinction matters: a recognizable image, a character’s species, or a visual resemblance does not automatically mean a champion has appeared in the story.
The clearest League and Runeterra connections
1. Janna’s temple recalls an old story Vander told the sisters
Episode 3’s temple is dedicated to the ancient spirit Janna, and Jinx sets her trap for Vi among its ruins. Netflix’s production feature confirms the temple’s dedication. A report republishing Polygon’s Act I coverage also describes a Janna statue and the story Vander told the sisters about Janna rescuing miners as the air ran thin. That account gives the location emotional history, but it should be treated as the show’s recalled tale rather than a verbatim official champion biography.

2. “The brambleback has left the jungle” is Heimerdinger’s code
In Episode 2, Heimerdinger uses “the brambleback has left the jungle” while he and Ekko break into Jayce’s former lab, according to the Act I report republishing Polygon’s coverage. A brambleback is a neutral jungle monster in League, commonly associated with the red buff. The line works as a discreet bit of gamer shorthand: it sounds like a coded warning in the scene and a familiar game term to players.
3. Teemo appears in Jinx’s hideout art—not as a character
The same Act I report notes a brief image of Teemo among mushroom-like art on a wall in Jinx’s hideout. It is a visual cameo in the artwork, not evidence that Teemo walks into the episode or joins its plot. The mushrooms help make the reference legible to players familiar with the champion’s recognizable imagery.

4. The Black Rose reaches Ambessa
In Act I, Amara attempts to attack Ambessa; a black rose dissolves from her hand, and Ambessa recognizes the danger. The Polygon-republishing report connects the moment to the Black Rose and Noxian lore, including champions associated with Noxus. The scene opens a door onto a wider power network in Runeterra, but does not explain the organization’s full history or motives.
5. Viktor’s transformation echoes a League champion skin
Netflix’s making-of feature says the show’s Viktor design takes cues from one of his League champion skins. In Arcane, however, the Hexcore-driven transformation has its own narrative purpose; the production connection is a design echo, not a claim that the game skin’s story is being reenacted. It is one of the strongest links in the list because the production feature directly identifies the inspiration.

The familiar “Get Jinxed” tune plays during the Episode 2 fight with Sevika. Netflix’s soundtrack feature credits Arcane co-creator Christian Linke with writing the song in 2013. Its return connects the series to Jinx’s League-era musical identity while giving the fight a recognizable franchise callback.
Details that add context, but are not separate confirmed champion cameos
7. Smeech is a Zaun-linked yordle
Fortiche’s production discussion describes Smeech as a yordle associated with Zaun and discusses his Chemtech augmentations. That makes him useful worldbuilding: it brings a familiar Runeterra species into Arcane’s industrial underworld. The source does not identify Smeech as a League champion, so the connection is to the world and species rather than a confirmed champion appearance.

8. The Episode 3 anomaly visualizes unstable arcane power
Netflix’s production feature describes the anomaly in Episode 3 as an unstable expression of the arcane, with visual language resembling the Hexcore. That makes it a clue about Arcane’s magic system and the danger unfolding in the story. The production commentary does not establish it as a reference to another named champion or artifact.
9. Janna’s calm temple contrasts with Jinx’s graffiti
The temple’s fluorescent paintings make the contrast between sacred setting and Jinx’s presence visible. Production designer Arnaud-Loris Baudry said, “The colorful and fluorescent graffiti contrasts with the calm of the environment.” Art director Julien Georgel described the design goal as “a very neutral and peaceful mood in this ancient temple dedicated to Janna.” Read together, the setting and graffiti tell part of the sisters’ story through visual contrast. The graffiti is an interpretation of the scene’s visual storytelling, not a separate canonical relic.

10. Season 2’s game tie-ins are franchise context, not Act I clues
Riot documented Season 2 activations across League of Legends, Teamfight Tactics, Wild Rift, Legends of Runeterra, and VALORANT. These official cross-game promotions show how broadly Riot connected the season to its games, but they are not Easter eggs hidden in Episodes 1–3. Riot’s news hub is the cited home for its Season 2 activation coverage; the tie-ins belong in the wider release context rather than the episode-by-episode clue count.

The most explicit lore or franchise connections are the Janna temple, brambleback phrase, Teemo image, Black Rose moment, Viktor design echo, and “Get Jinxed” return. Together, they reward different kinds of familiarity: recognizing a game term, spotting a visual cameo, knowing a Runeterra faction, or remembering a song. Smeech and the anomaly deepen the setting, while the graffiti and cross-game promotions offer interpretation and release context rather than additional confirmed champion appearances.
