10 WWE 2K22 Glitches That Could Turn a Match Upside Down

WWE 2K22’s Patch 1.16 notes recorded a range of reported gameplay glitches, from reversals that caused warping to cage-match oddities and unusually passive AI. Those notes establish the kinds of problems players reported—not that every one was funny, or what each looked like on screen. The ten examples below are historical glitch candidates, not a verified ranking or a definitive list of the funniest clips.

What the patch notes actually establish

The July 18, 2022 Patch 1.16 notes described these as reported concerns addressed in that update. They provide a useful record of WWE 2K22’s glitches at the time, but they are not footage, do not measure how often issues happened, and do not establish that every issue was fixed on every platform or in every mode. A clip or attributable player account is needed to show whether a particular glitch played out comically.

The update was described as live and included stability and balance improvements. The notes are reproduced in a WWE 2K22 Steam community forum post dated July 18, 2022, which attributes the notes to wwe.2k.com.

10 historical WWE 2K22 glitch candidates

These are ten distinct issue types mentioned in the Patch 1.16 gameplay notes. They are presented as documented candidates, not as confirmed funny moments: the notes do not describe their visual details.

#1 Best Overall
  1. Warping after a reversal

The notes mention reports of warping when a reversal was triggered. A sudden change of position could make a carefully timed counter look less like wrestling and more like a teleport—but the patch record does not describe a specific clip.

  2. Getting stuck on a cage wall

Some reports concerned Superstars getting stuck on a cage wall during reversals. In a cage match, where movement and escape are central to the action, an unintended pause in the climb could be an absurd interruption.

  3. Clipping or floating during gameplay

The update grouped reports of clipping and floating together. These terms describe visual or positional anomalies, but the notes do not say which characters, moves, or match situations produced them.

  4. Animations failing to sync

Patch 1.16 addressed reports of animation-sync problems. The notes establish a mismatch issue, not the exact on-screen result; without a clip, it is not possible to say whether a given instance looked funny or merely broken.

  5. AI stopping its attack on a cage opponent

One reported issue involved the AI stopping its attack on an opponent on the cage. The notes do not specify the match setup or explain why the AI stopped.

  6. AI going idle backstage

The patch notes also describe a reported idle state when the AI went backstage. That points to a backstage behavior problem, but no timing, trigger, or clip is supplied in the record.

  7. Signature meter not being consumed

Some reports said the signature meter was not consumed after a signature move. That is a gameplay-resource anomaly rather than a visual gag, and the notes do not say how often it occurred.

  8. AI remaining idle on the ground

Another report concerned AI staying idle while grounded. The patch notes do not establish whether this happened after a particular move, in a specific mode, or on a particular platform.

  9. Blood appearing on the attacker

Patch 1.16 addressed reports of blood being applied to the attacker during a match. The notes record the unexpected placement of the effect, but do not provide a screenshot or describe the circumstances.

  10. One Superstar climbing on another in a cage match

The notes mention reports that one Superstar could climb on top of another during a cage match. It is an inherently odd-sounding interaction, but the source does not show how it looked or confirm that players found it amusing.

How to read player reports alongside the patch record

A May 16, 2022 r/WWEGames post about bugs after Patch 1.012 collects community reports about issues including custom-content crashes, AI pathfinding around announce tables, tag-team finishers, and Universe Mode behavior. Those are individual reports, not evidence of frequency or platform-wide behavior; experiences can differ by platform, mode, and game version. The thread also asks whether Create-A-Finisher or Create-A-Story is available and what size custom renders or portraits should be, but those questions do not verify any of the ten glitches above.

Why these are candidates, not a definitive “funniest ten”

The available patch record names the issue types but does not identify the exact ten glitches intended by the title, rank them, or show what they looked like. It also mentions other reported problems—damage not being applied to some moves and weapon-using AI failing to attack a grounded opponent—that could be considered only if a clear, relevant example were available.

To call a particular incident hilarious rather than simply a bug, readers need a verified clip or a clearly attributed player account. Without that evidence, the most accurate description is a historical roundup of reported WWE 2K22 glitch types, not a collection of confirmed comedy moments.

Patch 1.16 is a historical milestone, not a current-status guarantee

The July 2022 notes say Patch 1.16 addressed the listed concerns. They do not establish that every issue was eliminated on every platform, that no glitches remained afterward, or what the current state of the game is. Separately, a January 20, 2022 Steam forum post quoting the game manual said online features were scheduled to be available until December 31, 2023, while reserving the right to modify or discontinue them without notice. That historical schedule is not confirmation of present-day online availability.
