Hi-Fi Rush
Hi-Fi Rush combines rhythm-action with 3D hack-and-slash combat and a cel-shaded look. Roberts connects its mix to PS2-era rhythm games and Devil May Cry-style fighting, while noting that it also draws on film influences and is not simply a remake of one older game. PC Gamer listed it at 55% off, £12.14/$13.49, on October 5.
Denshattack!
This stunt-focused speedrunning game sends you boosting and grinding a train through a corporate-owned version of Japan. Roberts points to Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, Crazy Taxi, and Jet Set Radio as reference points, but describes the result as its own take rather than a copy of those games. PC Gamer listed it at 25% off, $15/£12, on October 5.
Sifu
Sifu is a serious-toned martial-arts brawler built around physical hand-to-hand combat and customizable combos. Roberts links that feel to God Hand; PC Gamer reports that developer Sloclap identified the PS2 game as an influence. The October 5 listing was 75% off, $10/£8.

Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess
This action-strategy hybrid has recruited villagers defend a maiden from demons. Roberts sees it as recalling Capcom’s less conventional PS2-era output. PC Gamer reported an 86% score and listed it at 25% off on October 5, with prices shown as £30/£25; the visible article text does not make clear which amount belongs to which market, so those figures should not be treated as a reliable regional price comparison.

Roberts’s strongest comparison to Final Fantasy X is in the world-building and story: a recurring existential threat hangs over people trying to live in a beautiful but doomed world. He considers the combat parallels more complicated, invoking Lost Odyssey and Sekiro as other points of reference. PC Gamer listed it at 20% off, $40/£34, on October 5.
Classic console-era games now on PC
The second group is for readers after games from the generation itself, rather than modern works that borrow its sensibility. Roberts’s selection covers a PS2 stealth-action classic, Japanese role-playing games, a rhythm shooter, and an action game with survival-horror framing.

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
One PC route to the original PS2 game is Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1; Roberts also mentions the Delta remake as an alternative. He prefers the original’s PS2 aesthetic and praises its story and boss battles. PC Gamer listed the Master Collection at 50% off, $30/£25, on October 5. Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster
Roberts singles out Final Fantasy X for its clear combat and progression systems, the distinctive world of Spira, and its soundtrack.
