15 Best Discord Bots to Improve Your Discord Server

By VGSources Team 17 min read

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The best Discord bot is the one that solves your server’s biggest operational problem. Use Discord AutoMod as the baseline, choose one general-purpose bot for routine administration, and add specialist bots only for needs such as anti-raid security, support tickets, events, analytics, backups, leveling, economy features, Roblox verification, or music.

For most servers, the practical starting combination is AutoMod + Carl-bot or AutoMod + Dyno. This guide compares 15 current options by job rather than pretending that popularity alone determines which bot is best.

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

Short answer: start with Discord’s built-in AutoMod and one general-purpose bot—usually Carl-bot or Dyno. Add a specialist only when your server has a specific need: Wick for anti-raid protection, Ticket Tool for private support tickets, Sesh for events, Statbot for analytics, Xenon for backups, or Bloxlink for Roblox verification.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

There is no universally best Discord bot. The right choice depends on whether your biggest problem is moderation, onboarding, role management, security, support, events, analytics, backups, leveling, economy features, or media playback. The recommendations below are based on the current feature scope described in official Discord app listings and bot documentation—not on an independently measured ranking of uptime, latency, or moderation accuracy.

If you are building a server from scratch, avoid installing all 15. A small, deliberate stack is easier to configure, less likely to duplicate punishments, and easier to troubleshoot.

Music and shared listening FlaviBot Supports listed music and radio workflows, playlists, filters, 24/7 mode, and some additional utility features.

Before installing any bot: use AutoMod and define ownership

Discord’s native AutoMod should be the baseline for most servers. On desktop or in a browser, look under Server Settings > Safety Setup > AutoMod; Discord may adjust labels or availability by account, region, or interface version. AutoMod can handle custom keyword rules, spam, mention spam, and other risky-content filtering without adding a third-party application.

Third-party bots become more valuable when you need a dashboard, richer audit logs, role menus, ticket workflows, leveling, analytics, backups, integrations, or specialized security. Before inviting one, assign ownership:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Choose one system to make moderation decisions.
  • Choose one system to manage reaction roles or role menus.
  • Choose one XP and leveling system.
  • Choose one ticket workflow.
  • Decide where logs should go and how long they should remain available.

Overlapping systems can produce duplicate warnings, double punishments, competing role changes, and confusing audit channels. Installing two general-purpose bots is not automatically wrong, but each should have a clearly separated job.

The 15 best Discord bots for different server needs

1. Carl-bot — best overall utility and role management

Carl-bot is the strongest default for a server that wants one highly configurable utility bot rather than several narrow applications. Its feature set includes welcome messages, reaction roles, suggestions, moderation, automod, logging, and custom commands.

Its reaction-role system is particularly useful for game roles, platform roles, notification opt-ins, region roles, and interest menus. The Discord app listing describes multiple reaction-role modes and support for up to 250 roles. That is enough for most community role menus, although large menus should still be organized so members can understand them.

Choose Carl-bot if: you want broad functionality, embedded setup tools, role menus, and detailed logs in one place. Watch out for: its extensive permission request. Do not grant Administrator automatically, and disable overlapping moderation or role systems in other bots.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

2. Dyno — best dashboard-driven moderation bot

Dyno is a good fit for administrators who prefer configuring a server through a conventional web dashboard. Its documented modules cover moderation, AutoMod, logging, announcements, giveaways, autoresponders, and custom commands.

The dashboard approach makes it easier to review enabled modules and adapt commands to a particular community. Custom commands can be useful for server rules, frequently asked questions, game links, application instructions, or staff procedures without self-hosting a bot.

Choose Dyno if: moderation and administration are your priority and you want a familiar modular control panel. Watch out for: limits on custom commands and premium-only features. Check the current plan details before promising a feature as included or free.

3. MEE6 — best polished all-in-one engagement platform

MEE6 combines moderation and server administration with engagement features such as welcome messages, reaction roles, leveling, giveaways, Twitch and YouTube alerts, and custom commands. Its large installed base and polished presentation make it a familiar choice for gaming, creator, and community servers.

What’s actually slowing this PC down?

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

It works best when you want onboarding, activity rewards, social notifications, and moderation presented through one ecosystem. It can be more than a small friend group needs, especially if Discord’s native tools already cover the server’s moderation requirements.

Choose MEE6 if: the server needs a broad, polished community platform with engagement and social-alert features. Watch out for: plan segmentation. Features and pricing can change, so verify the current plan page instead of describing a particular capability as permanently free.

4. ProBot — best for welcome presentation and broad server management

ProBot is aimed at community owners who care about the first impression a member gets when joining. It supports image-based greetings, embeds, detailed logs, social commands, moderation, self-assignable roles, social-media notifications, protection features, and leveling.

  • What's Included: This server organizer comes with multiple open and zippered pockets to store money, receipts, tips, etc. Clear sleeves are perfect for keeping menus or special lists while serving. Available in a variety of colors, allowing you to express yourself even when in uniform

Image greetings and structured embeds can make a gaming community feel more polished without requiring custom development. Its logs and dashboard also give smaller teams a central place to configure common server functions.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Choose ProBot if: onboarding presentation and general server management matter as much as moderation. Watch out for: redundancy. If Carl-bot, Dyno, MEE6, or Arcane already owns your general-purpose features, adding ProBot may create duplicate role, welcome, leveling, or moderation behavior.

5. Wick — best anti-raid and anti-nuke specialist

Wick is the specialist to consider for a large, public, raid-prone, or high-value server. Rather than trying to be an all-purpose engagement platform, it focuses on protecting the server from destructive activity.

Its documented security functions include anti-nuke monitoring for channel, role, ban, kick, and webhook changes; heat-based automoderation; verification; join-gate filters; join-raid detection; quarantine; and lockdown. These tools are designed for situations where a compromised account, rogue staff member, or coordinated raid could rapidly damage the server.

Choose Wick if: preventing mass damage is more important than having another leveling or social bot. Watch out for: false positives and conflicts with other security tools. Whitelist trusted applications deliberately, then test quarantine and lockdown behavior in a controlled configuration before opening the server publicly.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

6. Ticket Tool — best dedicated support-ticket bot

Ticket Tool creates private support channels through configurable panels. It supports permissions, transcripts, claims, forms, buttons, custom commands, and dashboard controls, making it useful for customer support, creator communities, marketplaces, gaming clans, and help desks.

A typical workflow is to place a ticket panel in a support channel, let a member choose a category, create a private channel visible to the member and support team, allow a staff member to claim it, and generate a transcript when it closes.

Ticket Tool’s documentation states that generated transcripts are sent to Discord and are not retained in Ticket Tool’s own systems after generation. That does not make transcripts universally private: the destination channel and its permissions still determine who can read them.

Choose Ticket Tool if: support requests need structure, staff ownership, and a record of closed conversations. Watch out for: permission mistakes. Test a ticket with an ordinary member account—not just an administrator—and confirm that regular members cannot see other users’ tickets.

7. Sesh — best event and RSVP bot

Sesh is built around scheduling rather than moderation. It supports event creation, reminders, RSVPs, polls, time-zone conversion, Google Calendar synchronization, and natural-language time parsing.

That makes it especially useful for international gaming groups, recurring raids, watch parties, study sessions, tournaments, and community events where “7 p.m.” means different things to different members. Local-time display can remove one of the most common sources of missed events.

Choose Sesh if: your community needs RSVP tracking, polls, time-zone handling, or calendar workflows. Watch out for: over-installing. Discord Scheduled Events may already cover simple event announcements; Sesh earns its place when you need more advanced scheduling behavior.

8. Statbot — best community analytics bot

Statbot tracks message, voice, activity, status, and member-count statistics. Administrators can inspect activity by member and channel, use Statroles, and create customizable channel counters.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

These measurements can answer questions that a member total cannot: Which channels are actually used? Are voice sessions growing? Which time periods are busiest? Are participation rewards encouraging activity? The data is more useful when tied to a decision, such as archiving inactive channels or scheduling events around peak activity.

Statbot should not be confused with Discord Server Insights. Discord’s native insights have different eligibility requirements and objectives, while Statbot is designed for configurable activity tracking and more granular member and channel views.

Choose Statbot if: you manage a growing community and need engagement trends rather than a raw member count. Watch out for: collecting numbers without acting on them. Establish what you will measure and how often you will review it before adding counters everywhere.

9. Xenon — best server-backup and template bot

Xenon is useful when a server needs restoration planning, structure migration, cloning, or a safe way to experiment with a redesign. It can back up roles, channels, and settings; load backups; and provide public templates.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Premium tiers can preserve additional information such as messages, bans, members, nicknames, and role assignments. The exact scope depends on the current plan and should be confirmed before treating a backup as a complete historical archive.

Choose Xenon if: the server’s structure is valuable enough to restore, migrate, or clone. Watch out for: access control and assumptions about what a backup contains. Xenon’s documentation notes that backups are tied to the creating account and that only authorized users should load them. A backup bot is not a substitute for documenting permissions, retention, ownership, and recovery procedures.

10. Arcane — best leveling-focused all-in-one bot

Arcane is a strong choice when participation rewards are central to the community. It combines XP leveling and role rewards with moderation, logging, role management, reaction roles, YouTube notifications, welcome messages, counters, and custom commands.

Its leveling workflow lets administrators configure XP behavior and assign roles at particular levels. That can work well for gaming communities that want to recognize helpful regulars, event participation, or sustained conversation.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Choose Arcane if: XP and level-based roles are more important than advanced ticketing or anti-raid controls. Watch out for: premium requirements for voice leveling and advanced features, and never run multiple XP systems at once unless you intentionally want competing progress numbers.

11. YAGPDB — best advanced configurable general-purpose bot

YAGPDB is aimed at technically confident administrators who want granular control. Its modular feature set includes feeds, self-assignable roles, automoderation, moderation, logs, reminders, notifications, server statistics, custom commands, Reddit feeds, YouTube feeds, Twitch feeds, and self-hosting options.

The plugin-like flexibility can support unusual server workflows that a simpler dashboard bot cannot express. It is also useful when administrators want to connect announcements or feeds to the community’s existing routines.

Choose YAGPDB if: you are comfortable designing detailed rules and maintaining configuration. Watch out for: setup complexity. A small server that only needs basic moderation will usually have a simpler experience with AutoMod plus Carl-bot or Dyno.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

12. Apollo — best giveaway and lightweight engagement specialist

Apollo focuses on giveaways rather than trying to replace your main moderation bot. Its documented giveaway tools support account-age requirements, server-tenure requirements, role requirements, message-count requirements, eligibility rules, winner management, rerolls, blacklists, and giveaway history.

Those conditions are useful when a prize should go only to established members, a particular role, or people who have met a participation requirement. They also make it easier to explain and audit why a member was eligible.

Choose Apollo if: your community runs contests, promotions, or reward campaigns and does not need another all-in-one bot. Watch out for: unclear giveaway rules. Publish the prize, sponsor, eligibility requirements, start and end times, selection method, and reroll policy. A bot can automate the process, but the administrator remains responsible for fair and transparent rules.

13. Mimu — best economy and cozy engagement bot

Mimu is designed for social, fandom, and casual communities that want an in-server economy or collectible-style engagement loop. It provides a per-server currency system, shops, autoresponders, custom commands, welcome and boost messages, pet features, seasonal events, and crisis-hotline resources.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

An economy can give members reasons to return between game sessions, especially when rewards are cosmetic, community-oriented, or tied to participation. Keep the rules simple and avoid making the currency a substitute for meaningful moderation or staff support.

Choose Mimu if: your community wants a friendly, aesthetic engagement layer. Watch out for: scope creep. Mimu is not a replacement for a dedicated moderation, security, analytics, or ticketing system.

14. Bloxlink — best Roblox account verification and role binding

Bloxlink is the specialist choice for Roblox-centered servers. Discord’s app directory describes Roblox account verification, role bindings, and Roblox-based moderation commands. It can reduce manual verification and organize Discord roles around Roblox identity or group membership.

This is particularly useful for clans, game communities, Roblox developers, and groups where access depends on a Roblox account or group role. For a general gaming server with no Roblox-specific workflow, its specialized value is limited.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Choose Bloxlink if: Roblox identity or group membership is central to access and organization. Watch out for: current Roblox permissions and privacy behavior. Review those details before deployment and explain to members what account connection or verification information the workflow requires.

15. FlaviBot — best music and media-focused option in this shortlist

FlaviBot is the media-focused option here. Its Discord listing describes support for Spotify, Deezer, Apple Music, Tidal, radio, 24/7 mode, filters, and playlists, along with additional leveling, ticket, and utility commands.

It fits voice-centered communities that want shared listening, radio-style playback, or organized playlists. The extra utility features may be convenient, but they should not be the reason to install it if another bot already owns moderation or tickets.

Choose FlaviBot if: shared music or radio is a core activity in your server. Watch out for: changing platform policies and API behavior. Supported sources and playback behavior can change quickly, so verify the current listing before promising a particular source or uninterrupted playback.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

How to install and configure Discord bots safely

1. Start with the native safety layer

Configure AutoMod before inviting a third-party moderation bot. Create keyword rules for terms your community cannot accept, enable the spam and mention protections appropriate for your server, and choose whether the action should block the message, alert staff, or both. Send alerts to a private moderation channel and test with a non-staff account.

Do not assume every filter should be maximally aggressive. A gaming server may need different rules for game terminology, quoted text, links, and legitimate heated discussion. Review false positives after launch.

2. Invite only the bot you have chosen to own a function

If the App Directory is available for your server, the usual desktop or browser path is Server Settings > App Directory. Search for the bot, review the requested permissions and scopes, select the correct server, and inspect the authorization screen before confirming. The exact labels can change, and you generally need sufficient server-management authority to add an application.

Do not grant Administrator simply because it is convenient or appears in an invite flow. Grant the least privilege that allows the bot to perform its assigned job. A bot that only posts event reminders does not need moderation or role-management access.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

3. Fix role hierarchy before testing roles or moderation

Discord’s role hierarchy matters. A bot generally cannot manage roles above its own highest role, and it cannot moderate members protected by a higher role. Put the bot’s role above the roles it must assign or manage, but keep it below highly trusted staff and ownership roles.

This is a common reason for reaction roles, verification, quarantine, and moderation actions to appear configured but fail in practice. Test with an ordinary member, a target role, and a deliberately harmless test action before relying on the workflow.

4. Create dedicated channels for logs and alerts

Use a private moderation-log channel for warnings, deleted messages, joins, leaves, role changes, and security alerts. Restrict access to the staff who need it. For Ticket Tool, use separate transcript permissions and decide whether closed-ticket records contain personal information that should be retained or deleted.

Logs are only useful if staff can distinguish which bot performed an action. If multiple bots log the same event, keep one authoritative log or label each source clearly.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

5. Test the failure cases, not just the success case

  • Role menus: confirm a normal member can add and remove an allowed role, but cannot obtain a staff or moderation role.
  • Moderation: use harmless test keywords and verify the alert, action, and appeal path.
  • Tickets: open a ticket as an ordinary member and confirm another ordinary member cannot view it.
  • Verification: test an unverified account, an account with the expected Roblox or other identity, and a failed verification.
  • Anti-raid controls: test quarantine or lockdown in a controlled environment and confirm trusted bots and staff are not accidentally blocked.
  • Backups: load a Xenon backup into a test server or controlled copy before treating it as a recovery plan.
  • XP: verify that messages, voice activity, exclusions, cooldowns, and level roles behave as intended.
  • Events: create a short test event and check the displayed local times, RSVP flow, reminders, and calendar behavior.

6. Document ownership and recovery

Record which bot owns moderation, role assignment, XP, tickets, logs, and security response. Keep the server owner account, bot dashboard accounts, backup ownership, and recovery contacts documented. If the person who created a Xenon backup leaves the team, the backup’s account association can become an operational problem.

For complex deployments involving Wick, Ticket Tool, Xenon, or YAGPDB, a Discord server setup service may be reasonable for an organization that lacks the time to design permissions, test migration, and document recovery. It is optional; a service should not replace staff understanding of the configuration.

How many Discord bots should a server have?

Use the fewest bots that cover the server’s real requirements. A small community may need only AutoMod plus Carl-bot or Dyno. A large community may reasonably add Wick, Ticket Tool, Sesh, Statbot, Xenon, or Bloxlink, but each addition increases permission review, maintenance, privacy considerations, and the chance of conflicting automation.

A useful rule is one owner per function: one moderation authority, one role-menu system, one leveling system, one ticket system, and one security escalation path. Specialist bots are valuable when their specialized workflow is genuinely better than the native feature or the generalist bot already installed.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

What to check before choosing a premium bot plan

Many bots in this list divide features between free and paid tiers, and those entitlements can change. A premium Discord bot plan may be useful for advanced moderation, tickets, analytics, backups, or leveling, but basic server operation should not depend on an unverified promise about a paid feature.

  • Check the live provider documentation for the exact feature and plan.
  • Confirm whether limits apply to servers, commands, channels, backups, history, or members.
  • Find out what happens if a subscription ends.
  • Review who controls the account, billing, backups, and dashboard access.
  • Check whether the bot’s requested permissions increase when advanced features are enabled.

Final selection guide

Pick Carl-bot for the broadest utility and role management, or Dyno if a dashboard-first moderation workflow is more important. Choose MEE6, ProBot, or Arcane when polished engagement, onboarding, or leveling is central. Choose Wick for serious anti-raid protection, Ticket Tool for support, Sesh for time-zone-aware events, Statbot for activity data, and Xenon for backup planning. For specialized communities, use Bloxlink for Roblox, Mimu for economy features, Apollo for giveaways, and FlaviBot for music and radio.

Whatever you choose, configure AutoMod first, limit permissions, test with ordinary member accounts, and make one bot—not a pile of overlapping bots—the clear owner of each automated function.

Optional companion for server builders

If you are rebuilding a large server and prefer a printable reference for roles, moderation, bots, and community structure, a Discord server management book can be useful alongside the bot documentation. Treat it as a companion guide rather than a requirement: bot dashboards, Discord labels, permissions, and premium features change faster than most books can be updated.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best Discord bot for a new server?

For most small or general-purpose servers, begin with Discord AutoMod and either Carl-bot or Dyno. Carl-bot is especially strong for reaction roles, logs, suggestions, and broad utility; Dyno is a good choice if you prefer a conventional moderation dashboard. Add a specialist only when the server needs a function the native tools or generalist do not cover.

Do I need a bot if Discord already has AutoMod?

No. Discord’s built-in AutoMod can provide a baseline for custom keywords, spam, mention spam, and other risky-content filtering. A third-party bot is useful when you need richer logs, dashboards, role menus, tickets, leveling, analytics, backups, integrations, or specialized anti-raid controls.

Can I use multiple Discord bots at the same time?

Not necessarily. Use the fewest bots that cover your real requirements, with one bot owning each function. Two bots can coexist, but overlapping moderation, role menus, XP systems, or ticket tools can cause duplicate actions and confusing logs.

Should I give a Discord bot Administrator permission?

No. Grant the least privilege that allows the bot to do its job. Review the invite permissions, avoid Administrator unless there is a documented reason, place the bot’s role above roles it must assign or moderate, and test with an ordinary member account.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Which Discord bots are best as specialists?

Choose Wick for anti-raid and anti-nuke protection, Ticket Tool for private support channels, Sesh for RSVP and time-zone workflows, Statbot for detailed activity data, Xenon for server structure backups, Bloxlink for Roblox verification, and Mimu for an in-server economy.

The Bottom Line

Best starting point: Discord AutoMod plus Carl-bot or Dyno. Add only the specialist that solves a documented problem—Wick for raids, Ticket Tool for support, Sesh for events, Statbot for analytics, Xenon for backups, or Bloxlink for Roblox communities—and test permissions before launch.
