8. Star Wars Outlaws
Best for: Testing Radeon ray tracing and modern upscaling.
Star Wars Outlaws is a useful stress test because its ray-tracing workload can change the competitive picture. TechSpot found the RX 9070’s lead over the RTX 5070 widened substantially with FSR 4 Quality in its testing, while noting that ray tracing, upscaler behavior, or an architecture-specific interaction may have contributed.
- Recommended hardware: RX 9070 or RX 9070 XT for 1440p; RX 9070 XT for 4K with upscaling.
- Settings: Use FSR Quality at 1440p and test ray tracing independently of the upscaler.
- AMD angle: FSR and a game-specific Radeon result that can be unusually strong.
- Watch out for: This does not prove that AMD universally beats Nvidia in ray tracing. Results are game-specific.
9. STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl
Best for: Learning why frame-time consistency matters.
STALKER 2 is so demanding that TechSpot found neither the RX 9070 nor RTX 5070 reached 60 fps natively at 1440p Epic in its test. Quality upscaling improved the RX 9070’s position, but 1% lows remained important.

14. Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024
Best for: A simulation workload that combines CPU, GPU, streaming, and frame-generation demands.
Recommended Free Tools
Flight Simulator 2024 cannot be summarized by a normal GPU benchmark. Airport density, aircraft, weather, traffic, streaming conditions, and the processor can all change performance dramatically. AMD includes it in its HYPR-RX 4K examples, making it a useful case for testing frame generation after the base simulation is already stable.
- Recommended hardware: RX 9070 or faster for demanding 1440p/4K use; pair it with a capable CPU and sufficient system memory.
- Settings: Test a representative flight rather than relying on a menu or short benchmark. Check base fps and frame pacing before AFMF.
- AMD angle: HYPR-RX, upscaling, and frame generation.
- Watch out for: A reported issue after Sim Update 6 affected AMD Radeon users. Check the live game build and current compatibility reports.
15. Crimson Desert
Best for: AMD’s current FSR and ray-reconstruction technology.
Crimson Desert is one of the most relevant RX 9000 showcases because AMD identifies it as the first game to ship with FSR Upscaling 4.1 and FSR Ray Regeneration 1.1. AMD also presents it in a 4K ray-tracing comparison involving FSR upscaling, frame generation, and ray regeneration.
- Recommended hardware: RX 9070 for 1440p; RX 9070 XT for demanding 1440p or 4K.

Mainstream 1440p
The RX 7800 XT, RX 7900 GRE, and RX 9060 XT 16GB are better suited to modern 1440p games. The 16GB models are especially attractive for large open worlds, high-resolution textures, ray tracing, and future patches. More VRAM does not automatically make a GPU faster, but it can reduce memory-related limitations.
High-end 1440p and 4K
The RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT are the practical choices for high-refresh 1440p and 4K with FSR. The XT model provides more headroom for heavy settings and ray tracing, while the non-XT model can be the better value when its price is substantially lower.
Ray tracing and path tracing
RX 9000 cards improve AMD’s ray-tracing position, but conventional ray tracing and path tracing are not interchangeable. A Radeon GPU can be excellent in rasterization and still require reduced settings, FSR, or frame generation for maximum path tracing.

Integrated Radeon graphics
Integrated Radeon graphics should be treated separately. Performance depends heavily on the CPU model, memory configuration, power limit, cooling, and system memory bandwidth. Use reduced settings and realistic 720p or 1080p targets; do not assume an integrated GPU can use the same presets as a discrete RX card.
How to configure AMD features
- Update AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition from AMD’s official driver support page.
- Open Adrenalin and go to Gaming, then create or edit the individual game profile.
- Prefer the game’s native FSR implementation when it is available and working correctly.
- Use HYPR-RX as a starting point, not an untouchable preset. AMD says HYPR-RX can combine AFMF, Radeon Super Resolution, Anti-Lag, Boost, and other features, while HYPR-Tune may automatically enable in-game FSR or driver-level RSR.
- After enabling HYPR-RX, inspect the game’s resolution. RSR may lower the internal or game resolution when native FSR support is unavailable.
- Enable AFMF only after checking base fps, 1% lows, frame pacing, and responsiveness. RX 7000 and newer cards support borderless full-screen AFMF and HYPR-RX; RX 6000 cards require exclusive full-screen mode for AFMF 2.1.
- Compare motion, foliage, water, particles, transparency, and fine geometry—not just a still screenshot—when choosing FSR Quality, Balanced, or Performance.
AMD documents the current HYPR-RX controls and AFMF 2.1 support and settings.
Common problems and fixes
FSR “Redstone” does not appear
Check the GPU generation, Adrenalin version, DirectX 12 mode, display mode, and the game’s underlying FSR 3.1 or 3.1.4 integration. The title may not be supported, or a preview feature may have changed. Update the driver, inspect the per-game profile, and consult AMD’s supported-games list. If a technical-preview driver creates problems, AMD provides rollback guidance in its release notes.
HYPR-RX unexpectedly changes resolution
HYPR-Tune may enable RSR and lower the game’s resolution when qualifying native FSR support is absent. Reopen the game’s display settings and set the desired resolution manually, or disable the automatic option in the per-game profile.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDisplayed fps rises but the game feels no more responsive
Frame generation adds displayed frames; it does not necessarily lower input latency. Check base fps, 1% lows, GPU and CPU utilization, frame pacing, and subjective responsiveness. It is generally more suitable for slower single-player games than competitive titles.
AMD’s numbers do not match other reviews
That is normal when test systems differ. AMD’s published results use defined CPUs, memory, drivers, presets, resolutions, and benchmark methods. Independent reviews may use another CPU, patch, scene, upscaler, ray-tracing configuration, factory overclock, or power limit. Treat every figure as conditional.
Bottom line
For most Radeon owners, The Last of Us Part II Remastered, Baldur’s Gate 3, and Forza Horizon 5 are the best all-around picks. RX 9060 XT 16GB-class cards make the most sense for mainstream 1440p, while RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT cards are better suited to demanding 1440p and 4K. Choose Crimson Desert or Cyberpunk 2077 to explore AMD’s newest reconstruction and ray-tracing features—but judge base performance, image quality, frame pacing, and latency alongside the headline fps.
