This guide separates genuine headphone active noise cancellation (ANC) from passive isolation and microphone noise suppression. Dedicated gaming headsets appear first; ordinary ANC headphones are listed separately because they usually lack a low-latency gaming dongle and boom microphone.

What “noise-canceling” means for gaming
Headphone ANC uses microphones and electronic processing to reduce outside sound before it reaches your ears. It is most useful against continuous low-frequency noise such as fans, HVAC systems, traffic and apartment rumble. It is less effective against nearby speech, keyboard clicks and sudden high-frequency sounds.
Passive isolation comes from the ear-pad seal. It often matters more than ANC for voices and sharp noises. Microphone noise suppression only changes what your teammates hear; it does not make your room quieter. Transparency mode deliberately feeds outside sound into the headset and is useful when you need to hear someone nearby.

The 15 best options
1. SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Omni
Best overall for serious multiplatform gamers. The Nova Pro Omni is positioned as a newer premium successor to the Nova Pro Wireless, with multi-source audio mixing, Bluetooth LE, a control hub and enhanced ANC. That combination makes it particularly attractive to people moving between a PC, console, phone and multiple audio sources.
Buy it if: you need simultaneous sources and a premium multiplatform workflow. Skip it if: you want a simple headset or do not need a desk hub. Confirm the exact U.S. model, Xbox or PlayStation bundle, price and battery specifications before buying.

2. SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless
Best established premium gaming ANC headset. SteelSeries officially confirms headphone ANC and transparency mode. The headset combines 2.4-GHz wireless gaming audio, Bluetooth, a base station and a replaceable-battery workflow. PC/PlayStation and Xbox/PC versions are different products, so choose the correct one.
It remains a strong choice for players who want one sophisticated gaming system, although its price, desk hardware and potentially warm ear pads are excessive for casual users. Independent comparison coverage rates it above the original Sony INZONE H9 overall.
See the official product page.
3. SteelSeries Arctis Nova Elite
Best luxury option. SteelSeries identifies the Nova Elite as an ANC headset, and current coverage positions it alongside or above the Nova Pro family for premium audio, simultaneous sources and construction.
Its high price and extensive hardware make sense only if sound quality, ANC and multi-source control matter more than value. Verify current U.S. availability, pricing and platform compatibility.
See SteelSeries’ ANC support information.
4. Sony INZONE H9 II
Best premium PlayStation headset. The H9 II is Sony’s newer premium gaming entry, with ANC, PlayStation-oriented features and strong comfort and audio performance in current review coverage. It is the model to consider before the original H9 if the prices are close.
The reported U.S. price is approximately $349.99 in current coverage. It is less flexible than the SteelSeries flagships for complex multi-device setups, and Xbox compatibility must be checked rather than assumed.
5. Razer BlackShark V3 Pro
Best for competitive FPS. Razer markets the BlackShark V3 Pro as a wireless ANC esports headset with ultra-low-latency wireless, hybrid ANC, Bluetooth, USB connectivity, 50-mm drivers and a full-band microphone.

6. Turtle Beach Stealth Pro
Best candidate for glasses and long console sessions. Turtle Beach lists 2.4-GHz wireless, a claimed 50-foot range, memory-foam ear cushions and a glasses-oriented ProSpecs design. Its wireless gaming format and console variants make it more practical for gaming than ordinary ANC headphones.
The important buying check is the exact current revision and its headphone-level ANC implementation. Comfort is personal: pad geometry, clamp and heat matter more than weight alone. Platform compatibility varies by version.

8. Sony INZONE H9
Best discounted PlayStation ANC headset. The original H9 officially offers noise cancellation and 360 Spatial Sound for Gaming. It remains attractive when substantially cheaper than the H9 II and can suit PS5 owners who want a dedicated wireless headset with ANC.
It is an older design, and independent comparisons place the Nova Pro Wireless ahead overall. Reports of heat, fit and control issues should be treated as user experiences rather than universal defects.

9. Audeze Maxwell 2 ANC
Best potential sound-quality choice. The Maxwell 2 ANC is a high-priority candidate for audiophile-minded gamers, but its final ranking depends on confirming the shipping U.S. model, actual headphone ANC, platform variants, battery figures and support.
Until those details are confirmed on Audeze’s official product page, treat it as a conditional recommendation rather than a fully verified alternative.
Check Audeze’s current product information.
10. Corsair Virtuoso Max
Best potential Corsair ecosystem option. This model belongs on the shortlist only if the current U.S. product page confirms active headphone ANC, current availability, battery behavior and the required platform support.
It may appeal to existing iCUE users, but software dependence and multiplatform limitations could make the SteelSeries or Razer alternatives more practical. Do not confuse microphone noise processing with headphone ANC.
Check Corsair’s current gaming-headset catalog.
11. Bose QuietComfort Ultra Headphones, 2nd Gen
Best pure ANC for gaming-adjacent use. Bose’s newer QuietComfort Ultra generation is a leading conventional ANC option in current headphone coverage and is likely better at travel-style noise reduction than most gaming headsets.

It is not a native gaming headset: there is no conventional boom microphone or dedicated 2.4-GHz gaming receiver. Bluetooth latency, console support and microphone behavior must be accepted or worked around. It is best for PC or mobile users who also prioritize commuting and travel.

12. Sony WH-1000XM6
Best music-and-gaming hybrid. The WH-1000XM6 is a strong one-headphone choice for music, travel, calls and occasional gaming, and current coverage places it among the leading ANC headphones.
It uses a consumer Bluetooth design rather than dedicated gaming wireless and has a built-in microphone instead of a boom. Do not transfer INZONE gaming features to this model, and do not assume it will provide competitive console latency.

13. Sennheiser Momentum 4 Wireless
Best battery-and-music alternative. The Momentum 4 belongs in the consumer ANC category, not alongside dedicated 2.4-GHz gaming headsets. It can suit PC or mobile users who value music and battery life and are willing to accept wired gaming or microphone limitations.

14. Bose QuietComfort Headphones
Best comfort-focused consumer ANC option. Bose QuietComfort headphones can be a sensible sale-priced choice for general listening and occasional PC gaming. Consumer Reports’ 2026 buying guide recorded a $360 reference price and an overall score of 76; that is not a guaranteed current retail price.
They lack the dedicated gaming features of the headsets above, including a conventional boom microphone and 2.4-GHz console workflow. Value depends heavily on the actual sale price.
See the cited Consumer Reports buying guide.
15. EPOS H3PRO Hybrid
Best legacy/value pick if legitimate stock remains. The H3PRO Hybrid is worth considering only when U.S. stock, warranty, firmware support and genuine headphone ANC are confirmed. It can make sense as a clearance product, but an old model should not outrank current headsets simply to fill a list.
Check support and return terms carefully before buying.

Choose a gaming headset when latency, party chat, microphone quality and console support matter. Choose Bose, Sony or Sennheiser when travel ANC, music and portability matter more than competitive gaming features.
How to choose by platform and use case
- PC FPS: prioritize 2.4-GHz wireless, positional imaging, microphone quality and reliable software. The BlackShark V3 Pro is the specialist candidate.
- PlayStation: start with the INZONE H9 II, then compare it with the Nova Pro models. PS5 spatial audio support does not mean every feature is configurable directly on the console.
- Xbox: buy the Xbox-specific version where required. A PlayStation/PC transmitter is not proof of Xbox wireless compatibility.
- Switch or Switch 2: verify handheld USB-C, docked USB, Bluetooth and microphone behavior separately. A dongle that works in the dock may be awkward in handheld mode.
- Multiple systems: prioritize a control hub, confirmed multi-source mixing or a clearly documented transmitter-and-cable arrangement.
- Travel plus gaming: Bose and Sony are better ANC-first choices, but plan for Bluetooth latency, wired microphone limitations and console restrictions.
- Glasses: focus on pad shape and clamp, not marketing alone. The Stealth Pro’s ProSpecs design is a useful starting point, not a guarantee.
Connection checklist
Use the included 2.4-GHz USB connection for competitive gaming whenever possible. Bluetooth is convenient for phones and general listening but should not automatically be treated as low-latency gaming audio. Check whether the headset can mix Bluetooth and game audio simultaneously, whether the microphone works in wired mode, and whether ANC, EQ, sidetone and spatial processing survive a cable connection.
Also check whether the product uses USB audio, 3.5-mm analog, or both. Xbox, PlayStation and Switch can expose different microphone and chat behavior even with the same headset.

Battery and comfort: the details that change the decision
Do not compare battery headlines without checking connection mode, ANC state, Bluetooth use, quick charging and simultaneous connections. A replaceable or hot-swappable battery can be more useful than a long single-charge claim for all-day players. Confirm whether a spare battery is included or sold separately and whether the headset works while charging.
For comfort, check clamp force, ear-cup depth, internal opening, headband pressure, heat and glasses compatibility. Leatherette pads may improve isolation while increasing heat. A lightweight headset can still be uncomfortable if the ear opening is narrow or the clamp is strong.
Troubleshooting common problems
Audio sounds delayed
- Switch from Bluetooth to the included 2.4-GHz receiver.
- Disable unnecessary virtual-surround layers and test stereo.
- Update headset and dongle firmware.
- Try a direct USB port instead of an unpowered hub.
The microphone sounds muffled
- Check boom position, mute state and the selected input device.
- Test Windows, Discord or console input settings separately.
- Reduce aggressive AI or noise-suppression processing.
- Compare wireless and wired modes.
ANC causes pressure or hiss
Try a lower ANC level, transparency mode or ANC disabled. If discomfort continues, a well-sealing non-ANC headset may be a better choice.
Teammates hear the room
Headphone ANC does not cancel outgoing microphone noise. Move the boom closer, tune microphone suppression carefully, reduce room noise or use push-to-talk.
Wireless disconnects
Move the receiver away from USB 3.0 interference and Wi-Fi equipment, use a short USB extension to position it closer, update firmware and test Bluetooth separately.
Buying checklist
- Confirm genuine headphone ANC, not only microphone suppression or passive isolation.
- Confirm the exact PC, PlayStation, Xbox or Switch version.
- Test 2.4-GHz and Bluetooth separately.
- Test ANC with HVAC or fan noise, then test speech and keyboard noise.
- Check microphone quality in Discord or party chat.
- Wear the headset with glasses for at least two hours if possible.
- Check the return window before removing packaging or committing to the fit.
- Compare the current price with the previous generation; a discounted Nova Pro Wireless or INZONE H9 may be better value than a newer model at full price.
Prices, bundles, stock and platform variants change. Treat any quoted price as a dated U.S. snapshot rather than a permanent value.
The Bottom Line
Buy the SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Omni if you need the broadest premium multiplatform feature set and its verified U.S. version suits your devices. Choose the Nova Pro Wireless for the safer established premium recommendation, the BlackShark V3 Pro for competitive FPS, or the INZONE H9 II for PlayStation. Choose Bose or Sony consumer ANC headphones only when travel-grade noise reduction and music matter more than low-latency gaming and boom-mic support.
