If you want a focused sci-fi campaign, start with Titanfall 2. For ongoing co-op and multiplayer, try Destiny 2; for arena combat with a twist, choose Splitgate. These games share different parts of Halo’s appeal, so the right pick depends on whether you want a campaign, competitive matches, co-op, or large-scale battles.
Closest matches, depending on what you want from Halo
- Campaign: Titanfall 2 is the strongest starting point for a focused military sci-fi FPS story.
- Ongoing activities and co-op: Destiny 2 puts more emphasis on continuing activities and multiplayer than on a single self-contained campaign.
- Arena multiplayer: Splitgate brings arena-style shooting together with a distinctive portal mechanic.
They are not interchangeable substitutes: one is a campaign-first shooter, one is an ongoing shooter, and one is a multiplayer arena game. The remaining picks below are grouped by the specific element they share with Halo.

FPS campaigns with science-fiction action
Titanfall 2
A strong choice for a focused military sci-fi FPS campaign, with multiplayer as an additional draw. Start here if Halo’s campaign missions and futuristic combat matter more than building a long-term character or chasing ongoing activities. GamesRadar’s Halo-like games guide and PC Gamer’s recommendations also discuss it as a relevant alternative.
DOOM (2016)
Choose this for fast, aggressive science-fiction FPS combat. Its pace and tone are a marked departure from Halo’s more measured military sci-fi feel.

DOOM Eternal
This pushes the action further toward movement-driven combat and resource management. It suits players who want a demanding single-player shooter, not a close match for Halo’s pacing.
Crysis Remastered
A sci-fi military setting and flexible combat encounters make this a reasonable campaign pick if you want to approach fights in more than one way.
Wolfenstein: The New Order
A story-led FPS campaign is the point of overlap here. Its alternate-history setting is very different from Halo’s space-opera backdrop.
Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare
Try this for a cinematic space-military campaign and futuristic weapons. It is a campaign-oriented comparison rather than a recommendation for Halo-style arena multiplayer.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsHalf-Life 2
This classic offers a story-forward FPS campaign and science-fiction worldbuilding. It is a natural fit if you want a memorable single-player journey more than contemporary multiplayer.
Metro Exodus
For a more atmospheric story-led FPS, Metro Exodus mixes exploration with resource management. Its mood and survival emphasis make it a less direct match for Halo’s action-forward combat.
Prey (2017)
This is a first-person science-fiction exploration and combat game set in a contained environment. Pick it for its setting and exploration rather than for arena shooting.
Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition
An energetic FPS built around combat and weapon experimentation, this is a good fit if the fun of trying different ways to fight matters more than Halo’s setting or campaign structure.
Multiplayer, co-op, and large battles
Destiny 2
Destiny 2 is a science-fiction shooter centered on continuing activities, co-op, and multiplayer rather than only a self-contained campaign. It is a better match for players who want to keep returning to a shared shooter than for someone seeking a single campaign like Halo’s.
Splitgate
Its arena-shooter foundation makes it the most direct pick here for players focused on competitive-style matches; portals add a distinct layer to movement and combat.
Star Wars Battlefront II
Choose this for large-scale science-fiction battles and a familiar franchise setting. The appeal is the scale of the fights, not a close recreation of Halo’s campaign or arena format.
Rank #2
- Disc only. Original case and manual not included. Will come packaged in a generic case.
- This renewed game has been cleaned, tested, and shows minimal wear.
Apex Legends
This offers team-based competitive science-fiction shooting, but its hero abilities and battle-royale focus substantially change the multiplayer experience. It fits if you want squad play, not if you want a straightforward Halo-style arena match.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Disintegration
An unusual adjacent pick, Disintegration combines FPS shooting with real-time strategy, according to Xbox’s game listing. It was created by a studio founded by Halo co-creator Marcus Lehto, but that connection does not make its hybrid gameplay a direct Halo substitute.

Gears 5
For Xbox science-fiction warfare and cooperative play, Gears 5 is a strong adjacent choice. It is a third-person shooter, so the camera and combat feel differ from Halo’s first-person action.
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2
This third-person action shooter brings alien-like enemies and a science-fiction war setting. Choose it for the battlefield fantasy, not for a first-person Halo feel.
Borderlands 3
Co-op science-fiction shooting and loot progression provide the overlap. Its substantial RPG systems and progression make it a different kind of shooter from Halo.

Pick this for expansive science-fiction storytelling and squad combat. It is an RPG with third-person shooting, so the story and setting are closer points of comparison than the moment-to-moment action.
The Outer Worlds
This is a science-fiction exploration RPG centered on choice-driven play, rather than Halo-style arena combat. It suits readers who want to explore a sci-fi setting more than compete in a shooter.
Want more Halo itself?
Halo: The Master Chief Collection
If your goal is more Halo campaigns and multiplayer, rather than a similar game, Halo: The Master Chief Collection is the most direct option in this list. Check the current store listing for your platform and edition before buying.
Check access and platform details before you choose
Halo can be a useful reference point for access: Halo Support’s free-to-play FAQ says Halo Infinite multiplayer and Academy are free to play, while the campaign must be purchased or accessed through some Game Pass memberships. That distinction does not establish the price or access model for any alternative on this list.
