A September 20, 2026 report listed 22 Nintendo Switch games as having reportedly received backward-compatibility fixes for Nintendo Switch 2. The report is about compatibility—not a new update to The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, nor evidence that these games are similar to it.

Does “like Tears of the Kingdom” mean these games are similar?
No gameplay comparison is established by the compatibility report. It does not compare the listed games with Tears of the Kingdom in exploration, combat, puzzles, crafting, building, or world design. Compatibility fixes concern whether a game works properly on Switch 2; they do not establish a game’s genre or similarity to Zelda.

What did the Switch 2 system update add?
Nintendo’s system update history says version 23.0.0 was released on September 9, 2026, and states: “Added support for VRR (Variable refresh rate) in TV mode.” Nintendo notes that VRR requires support from both the software and TV, and a Switch 2 dock update is required. See Nintendo’s Switch 2 system update history.
The timing places the game-fix report after the firmware release, but neither source establishes that version 23.0.0 caused or enabled every listed compatibility fix.

How is Tears of the Kingdom’s Switch 2 update different?
Tears of the Kingdom has its own game-update history, separate from the reported group of 22. Nintendo says version 1.4.0, released June 3, 2025, added support for the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition when playing on Switch 2. Version 1.4.3, released February 17, 2026, fixed an issue in which the Black Hinox in Hyrule Castle could appear undefeated and prevent players from obtaining the Hinox Monster Medal, along with other gameplay issues. Nintendo’s instructions and update history are on its support page for updating the game.
