Riot announced on January 6, 2026, that its free-to-play 2v2 fighting game 2XKO would arrive on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 on January 20, with Season 1 starting the same day. Riot’s January 19 launch patch notes clarify that Season 1 began on January 20 across PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5, while console availability was January 20–21 depending on region. What time did 2XKO release?
Riot’s cited announcement and patch notes do not give a single worldwide release hour. The January 20 maintenance window was 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Pacific Time, when online modes were scheduled to be unavailable—not a launch slot or countdown target. Riot’s service status page is the relevant place to check for service availability, rather than treating that past maintenance schedule as a release time.
Is there a Season 1 countdown?
No. Season 1 began on January 20, 2026, so a live countdown to its start would be misleading. Riot later announced that patch 1.3.1 would remove seasons, Battle Passes, KO Points, Champion Tokens, and events. The Season 1 launch is historical, not a coming milestone.

Can you still play 2XKO?
In an August 20, 2026 statement, Riot said active development would conclude at the end of 2026, but that servers would remain online beyond 2026 and the game would remain playable on all platforms. That statement described Riot’s plan at the time; future plans can change. Riot said the October 2026 patch 1.3.3 would be the final major content patch, with a December 1.3.5 patch planned as optional and mostly focused on bug fixes. Riot’s development update said the decision followed a review of the game’s trajectory and a conclusion that not enough players were sticking with it to reach a sustainable path; it did not publish a player-count or retention figure.

At launch, 2XKO was available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. Riot confirmed cross-play and shared account progress across those platforms. Its launch notes also said a console subscription was not required to play online. The game is free-to-play and is described by Riot as a 2v2 fighting game.
